According to Alan Nixon we’ve joined the race for Cole Stockton. Apparently we are willing to go higher than Fleetwood with a bid but Morecambe are asking for £600k (we certainly won’t be paying that).
Explains why he didn’t complete his Fleetwood deal. Have to see but won’t be paying that much I doubt, nor would I want us too after one decent season.

No, I would have a hard time imagining us breaking our record transfer fee for him. I think more than anything it’ll be Morecambe trying to create a bidding war as I think I’d read Stockton had handed in a transfer request.

The only thing with Stockton that makes me pause is the difference in his record at Morecambe and other clubs is huge. We still need someone with pace though.

Wouldn’t say no to a strike force set of Proctor, Wilson, Harrison and Stockton mind! Especially when the former two do struggle with injuries, Fleetwood must be annoyed though as I’m pretty sure they only sold Harrison to us with the view of getting Stockton!

There's no way anyone is paying £600k for a striker who's 29(?) and has had only two good seasons in his career.

Chansiri’s son is now following Malik Wilks on Instagram. Thats a done deal then.

Not sure how Gregory, Windass, Wilks and Smith will fit into the same team. Over to you Mr Moore…

It's about options and strength in depth, Wilks will offer something different with his directness and pace.

I imagine its just a ploy to see if we offer a bit more or start a bidding war, I am sure we could pay it but wouldn't be the kind of investment we are looking to do as our model is based on value for money and re-sale value hence buying Forrester from Stoke.

For £600k I would rather be looking at someone like Tyreese Simpson or someone who we could potentially develop further and make money on, for £600k we could probably get him and still have enough to get Politic back from his failed spell in Cremona and have plenty of re-sale value!

£250k would be a realistic price, he is 29, had 2 decent seasons and if no one comes in he is pretty much walking out the door for nothing in May (or virtually nothing in January)... not to mention he has handed in a transfer request so debatable how settled he will be now.

We've paid around half the fee wanted for Stockton on 23 year old Mallik Wilks.

We’ve signed Myles Peart-Harris on loan from Brentford until January. 19 year old attacking mid.

I doubt even a Stockport or Wrexham would cough up that money for him. This all seems a very thinly disguised attempt to start a bidding war. One thing that may potentially force their hand closer to the deadline is Morecambes owners are also involved with Worcester Warriors Rugby who are facing a winding up order and potential administration. That might influence Stocktons price being dropped to something more realistic such as £250k plus add-ons.

Politic would be a good one however this is a lad that’s played about 17 minutes of football since he left for Italy. Doesn’t seem to have been the best move in terms of his career even if Cremona itself is a very nice part of the world to live.

Complete waste, should of signed for us and built himself up, and a real waste. Not sure if a loan is possible from Italy but would love us to bring him back, he was a real game changer and the type I’ve not seen us have before. He was usually meh if he started but as a super sub he was lethal. Orient, Burton, Brentford, Barrow spring to mind.

As for Stockton we will see, I trust DC and Flickers to get it right, we had to wait for Harrison and he’s looked a very promising acquisition based on the games he has played (can’t wait to see him with Wilson) if we can add in another good league one striker and maybe a young loanee then we should be well set. Allow us to use Proctor much less as he seems to be struggling physically with injuries.

Well Ash Hunter has now been ruled out for 12 weeks so I can't see us shifting our asking price now.

I can't see anyone paying it as it's such a huge gamble based on his record, unless someone who is desperate for a striker puts in a silly bid at the 11th hour.

He would have gone by now if the whole Fleetwood thing was legit. This one will go right down to the wire I think.

The board have distanced themselves from the crisis at Worcester Rugby Club but i'm far from convinced, it's doesn't sound too good for them, they are potentially going into administration today.

Aye, if anything happens it will be right up to the last minute of deadline day. My guess if I was laying money is he will still be a Morecambe player and then once January comes around things may get revisited as the league will have taken shape then and maybe it makes sense to get a bit of cash.

From clips have seen of him he does look like a similar type of player to James Wilson which is no bad thing but he will be back from injury for us before long himself.

Rakeem Harper from Ipswich being mentioned on Exeweb.

Seems to have been poor at Ipswich and also Crewe, but must have some ability to have played a number of Championship games for WBA and Birmingham. Probably one of those players who thinks they’ve made it and can then just piss it away.

If we sign him, hopefully he can show some form and prove any doubters wrong.

Us and MK being linked with Diallang Jaiyesmi of Charlton.

Alex Gilbey apparently moved to Burton Waters (houses where we put loan/short term stays) on Monday, but Charlton are waiting for a player to come in before it's completed. Should be done in time for Saturday.

Rekeem Harper confirmed as a season long loan. Says he's a midfielder- is that right? It's a striker we need

Yes he’s a midfielder. Think Matt wanted one more in that position. 2 strikers needed now.

Hopefully Harper shows his ability and we can get the best out of him as we’ve done with other recent signings who have had poor spells elsewhere.

Good move for both parties. Physically a good player for his age. Need to find a consistency and what his natural position is. Hope it works out well

Depends. He was either decent or crap for us. 2 relegation on cv so not that great. I didn't mind him but not that upset he is gone.
Well apart from a silly sending off he was great for us and got better and better as the season progressed. Hopefully he will kick on with better players around him as the side he played in here was piss poor to say the least.

Have to say the relegations is probably my main worry tbh. Whilst he was great with us, it can’t be ignored he was relegated again with Wimbledon.

Time will tell, but overall I trust Barton.

Any ideas on fee?

Ive heard that from a few other fans. I always believe quality shines through and he did when we went down and although we did go down, it was in spite of him rather than because of him.
Luke Leahy is still doing well in L1 after relegations with us and Walsall.
Wimbledon was always a strange choice to sign a 3 year deal if you have no intention of playing in L2, I thought someone like Charlton would have been a better fit.
Not heard anything of the fee, although I trust the CEO, Wael and Joey to have got a good deal.

I beleive it was £175 up front and leading up to 300K with add ons.

Sounds like he has some pace at least. Gives us something we lacked before so hopefully we can make use of it.
