You're not wrong, not seen another fanbase react as badly to anything as ours do on Twitter!

Still two more signings due in and hopefully a few moving on. Seems to be quantity over quality at the moment so an important few weeks to get the squad finalised.
To be honest, up front wasn't all that desperate, it's defence that needs strengthening. Another back up forward means we can move one of the other back ups out on loan or, with a bit of luck, away permanently.

Just look at the transfer thread on our forum and it started before the window officially opened!

Alfie Pond has gone on loan until January to Yeovil.
Good move for him, rumours a few others will be loaned out but I suspect that will be contingent on a few more coming in.
Apparently we missed out on another target this week, they probably think they wouldn't get in the side...

Thanks, can't see him playing wing back we've seen nothing to suggest we'll go three at the back for any length of time (final 10 minutes of the Portsmouth game).

Obviously not seen Garrick yet but from the description of him, Whittaker's less physical and doesn't work as hard (something aimed at him in his early days here), but I'd imagine Whittaker is probably a little more cute in and around the area (not that we saw much of that tbh but he plays like that kind of player).
I’ll be keeping an eye on both of them to see how they do, but from what I’ve seen, Whittaker is probably more technical but I’d rather take Garrick at the moment. ( it’s only been 3 games)

Rumour of Cole Stockton leaving Morecambe for either us or Fleetwood. Wasn’t included in Morecambe’s match day squad today so will most likely find out where he’s off to come Monday. Rumour is 400k.

Few rumours about Carlos Mendes Gomes going out loan to a league 1 side. Rumours ive seen are mainly linking him to Fleetwood. Certainly needs to get out and play some games.

He’d be perfect for us to be honest.

Anang has been confirmed. He’s had a weird career to date: very highly rated as a young keeper at West Ham, played for England’s youth teams, went out on loan to Stevenage where he struggled but seemed to have somewhat of a bounce back in Ireland.

Wildsmith has seemed to solidify his role as the number one anyway, with some very good performances. I assume he comes in as backup, with the opportunity to play if Wildsmith starts to struggle.

Didn’t take long for Wildsmith to win you over then?

When we signed him, I wasn’t convinced of him being our first choice but he’s been great so far. Surprised with how good of a footballer he is, huge benefit especially given the way we play.

The meltdown on Twitter is truly glorious though.

No-one does a meltdown like Cheltenham Town Twitter. It's a shame we don't have a bigger following, because it would be a sight to see.

I love a good fan tantrum, if only because it reminds me that it’s not only our fans that overreact horrendously to either the “wrong” signings, or not enough signings.

I read the thread on the Robin’s Nest - not too bad, although as with our fanbase it sounds like the true hardcore bedwetting is to be found on Twitter or Facebook.

I can’t pretend that our forum (as opposed to Twitter/FB) is a bastion of rationality, but I think there’s something about using a medium where you actually need the attention span to be able to write full sentences which weeds out the worst of the whining.

Sounds like this is going to be a pretty crappy week for us. Cole was "ill" on Saturday which is pretty convenient. Fleetwood had put in a "low 6 figure" bid in the other day which I hope to God we rejected and they've come in with a better offer. I'd pretty annoyed if we're selling him for 100k-ish but it sounds like he's spat his dummy out.

We'll only have 1 striker now if he does go, in Jon Obika. I wouldn't even want him in League 2 based on what I've seen of him. We need to get active for a striker or 2 pretty sharpish.

Never expected that Carlos would come back here, but it's sad that it's Fleetwood. Money talks I guess.....kinda

Be a strange one if he went to Fleetwood (no disrespect meant to them) as I could swear there were Championship clubs being linked with him. Seems like it would be rather a sideways sort of move from a distance.

If Stockton is going Fleetwood for a low six figure sum I would like to see us throw our hat in the ring, that said we've obviously signed Harrison from Fleetwood for a fee so assume they are using that towards Stockton.

There's no way Stockton is going for £400k surely, at 29(?) and only having two good seasons in his career?!

Hakeeb Adelakun has gone to Gillingham on loan for the season.

Good move for all parties, he's been a dud of a signing for us. Not really a glimmer of hope really, so a season down in L2 might spark the form that saw him sign for Bristol City and be one we're able to sell on next summer.

Jordan Garrick already looks an upgrade on him, even after only 70 minutes of viewing.

I liked Garrick. He has pace to burn (but frustrates in that he won’t always use it), has a very powerful shot on him. However, he needs to work on his decision making which sometimes could kindly be referred to as ‘naive’. He also could sometimes run into cul-de-sacs (often by the corner) because he did not look up. That said I liked him and wanted him to sign permanently. Be interesting to see if Whittaker is an upgrade or not?

Agreed. Never got going and not consistant enough when given the chance. Clearly players back in contention such as Vernam etc, so right time to move him on.

I said this before the weekend games on Whittaker in response to a couple of Argyle fans:

Have Fleetwood got 400k?
In January they sold defender James Hill to Bournemouth for a reported £1m and midfielder Jay Matete to Sunderland for around £750k. No idea how much of that they got up front but they’ll have some of that money to spend.

They also been pretty well financed by their owner Andy Pilley in recent years.

That's some nice business for Fleetwood. He was really good when he was at Morecambe.

Apparently we are "monitoring" Cambridge's attackers Shilow Tracey and Harvey Knibbs to potentially sign one of them. Both had good games yesterday

If both continue the way they're going they'll have bright futures.

MK Dons have just had a bid rejected for Knibbs apparently. Bonner said the other week that no one would be joining or leaving for the rest of the window and he's reiterated today that he doesn't expect anyone to leave.

Knibbs, Tracey, as well as Smith, Ironside, Mitov, and I think Lankester's contracts are all out in the summer anyway, so if there is real interest in any of them you'll have an opportunity to sign them for free then though I expect there's gonna be a fair amount of clubs looking at them.
