I'd take that to be fair, I've always liked the look of Jephcott. I can't see us budging on our asking price whatever it is though.
Surely Morecambe are in a bad position here because of the length left on his contract and his desire to leave? If Morecambe don't sell now they risk losing him for nothing in a few months and having an unsettled player in the ranks.

You're right, stupidly i assumed the August transfer window would end at the end of August!
Think they changed it after the stupidity last season where it closed on a midweek round of fixtures, which prompted complaints from Clubs.

I'm told that we're still in for Adam Phillips and Cole Stockton. Stockton wants to join but Morecambe are wanting more money and I think we're trying to call their bluff.

Other rumours are us and Lincoln are after Matty Virtue on loan from Blackpool and Ipswich have pulled out of signing Macauley Bonne and it's between us and Bolton.

Hoping for atleast two of these as we're so short on numbers it's laughable.
Not 100% sure what type of CM he is, but it's an area we need something in. Our assistant was Blackpool's assistant under Critchley, so presumably knows him.

Leicester are playing Man United tomorrow night, I'm surprised they allowed that...

David Stockdale - 8/10 - Proven operator at this level and above, is there much between him and Cameron Dawson? I don't think so and some may have preferred us to go with our home grown option but in Stockdale we've got the proven experience to hand. On a free from a direct promotion rival it was a no brainer and good business.

Akin Famewo - 6/10 - Hard to judge as he only played a couple of times before sustaining a long term injury, on paper it looks solid enough and he's looked fine when he's played.

Will Vaulks - 6/10 - On paper its an excellent signing for the level, not really go going as of yet though and in reality finds himself well down the pecking order in terms of the central midfielders we have available to us. With the form of Dele-Bashiru and Adenrian when they've played he could be as low as 6th choice in that position but that says more about the strength of our midfield than anything else. He will certainly be required throughout the season.

Michael Smith - 7/10 - Again a perfect signing on paper, one of the leagues top scorers last time out on a free and a near perfect injury record until he walked through the door at Hillsborough. Has been largely injured whilst he's been here but made his first start last night and looks a huge upgrade on Paterson (not hard) although I don't see him been a starter week in week out.

Michael Ihiekwe - 9/10 - Been there and done it at this level a few times, another one on a free and has not put a foot wrong so far, looks like everything we needed in the middle of the back 3.

Ben Heneghan - 6/10 - Jury is still out for me. Fans took to him straight away but I'm not convinced. Ok with anything directly on his head but looks shaky on the floor and positionally poor. Found himself on the bench of late.

Tyreeq Bakinson - 8/10 - Really starting to come into his own in that midfielder 3, strong, athletic and a good foil for Bannan/Byers. Think he'll be an important player this season.

Malik Wilks - 7/10 - Only just through the door so hard to judge, on paper he gives us some pace and has scored goals at this level before.

Mark McGuiness - 9/10 - Signed on the back of Famewo's injury and looks like this seasons Jordan Storey, calm and composed and having a left footer on the left of the back three helps us move the ball much quicker

Reece James - 5/10 - Only played a small amount of football for us so far but I think he's generally looked poor, got sent off on debut aswell which ultimately turned the game in our only defeat so far this season.

Alex Mighten - Can't give him a rating yet as he's only just through the door. On paper looks exactly what we need but time will tell.

In terms of the outgoings I wasn't overly bothered about many. Luongo was the only one I'd have really liked to have kept but in Bakinson we seem to have replaced well and also have Vaulks to fall back on.

Overall it's been a very good window for us, the squad looks as strong as anyone's in the division and the pressure is on Darren Moore to deliver.

Stockdale was rubbish against us, hardly touched the ball all game.

Well tomorrow has the potential to be really exciting for us, or it could end up being a complete anticlimax.

Hoping for 2 strikers and 1 LWB but would take just the two strikers.

I’m disappointed in that, though that said - his off-the-ball skills were a vital part of his overall game for us, whether it was the art that he put into crafting his shoelace knots when they mysteriously came undone all the time when we were winning, or the sudden attacks of cramp that kept coming up when the opposition were in the ascendant.

Not sure what his training regime is like at SWFC but maybe something to bear in mind.

We’re in for Burton striker Gassan Ahadwe. Would be happy with that as he looked excellent against us a fortnight ago. Caused our defenders problems more than any other player this season so far. And 5 goals and 2 assists in 6 games is good going as well.

8 goals in 16 games last season for Burton when he joined in janaury isn’t bad either. Would be pleased with that if we get it done.

Reminds me of Farman at Lincoln a few years back.

Sam Cosgrove signed on a season long loan, gives us a different dimension in attack, hopefully we can get a tune out of him

We look to be signing James Olayinka on a permanent deal from Arsenal. Previously on loan at Southend and Northampton.

Sounds promising, but not sure he’s what we need

A former Canary?!?!

We had him on loan first half of last season after scoring goals for fun in pre-season. He seemed to visibly wilt under the weight of the fans expectation and quickly lost his place in the team when the real football began. We sent him packing in Jan after zero impact.

Looks like he may have gotten over that now with his good start at Burton, but I'd definitely make sure his temperament is up to it playing for a large, expectant crowd. Hopefully he's over it.

I remember him being pretty decent at Northampton. Seemed quite a tricky player. Obviously not quite kicked on but could be a decent signing that.

If we are going to do anything today I get the feeling we are going to leave it right up to 23:00…

Jephcott hasn't gone out on loan yet but some Exeter City fans think he'll end up there.

Yeah looks like Stockton wont happen as Morecambe wont budge so he will be a freebie for someone next season unless a club goes silly money at it.

I wouldn't have minded Jephcott here to be honest, got a feeling we will end up with Gordon from Barrow though!

This. Ainsworth has said we have irons in the fire but he won’t pay over the odds and we won’t do bidding wars - of course we may have no irons in the fire, and he’s just saying this to placate the fans who think we haven’t strengthened enough, but time will tell.

Schumacher has said Luke Jephcott is going. Has plenty of options apparently.

Our director of football has said we are trying to get a couple of deals done today, which we really need to do imo, so quite possible we’re in for Jephcott.

Our deadline day as of lunch time today:

Chris Maguire close to having his contract terminated by mutual consent. We wanted to get rid anyway and I suspect the FA charge has put us in a stronger position to be able to do that rather him to be too demanding.

A Championship midfielder close to joining on loan (probably Matty Virtue from Blackpool).

Potentially someone from the first team squad out on loan, which I'm a little surprised about because we can't really afford anyone to leave and need bodies.

No permanent bids for any player as of yet.

Gordon would be very underwhelming. I get Morecambes line on Stockton. They’ll be hoping he knuckles down and scores the goals to keep them up but it just depends on whether he is going to sulk now. Suppose if they look nailed on relegation come January they might look to sell on for whatever they can get then albeit will be a lot lower than the offers now.

The players we’ve brought in so far by and large look like they can contribute in some form or other but if we don’t add another one up top it’s not really been as good as we’d have liked.

Not sure if we’ll see any outgoings. Only one I’d think about is if Sammy Robinson is third in the pecking order at RWB maybe send him out on loan to L2 or conference. Think it’s too early with Tommy McDermott to do the same.

We've turned down a loan from a League 2 club for Ellis Chapman - no idea who, but time out on loan would be good for him because he's becoming a scapegoat at the moment.
