Looks like a strong chance Jack Stevens will be recalled to Oxford in January from what Karl Robinson has said. Think this was always a possibility and the risk you take going the loan route for a keeper. At least we have about 6 weeks or so to properly look at a permanent solution as Aiden Stone is definitely not the answer for me.
Ridiculous move in the first place, we need a permanent keeper ideally and its been a bit of a mess for 18 months now. Its not like there has been a huge gulf between him and Stone either.

Now we have a love in with Ipswich maybe go after Hladky, would love him as number 1.

It’s been the one big mark against our recruitment going back to when Scott Brown left (he was probably done at that point as his move to coaching shows). Just haven’t got it right and it’s probably the most important position on the pitch. Disagree that Stone isn’t much behind. He’s just far too flaky and error prone to ever be a proper number one.

Talking of which, Scott Brown is leaving this weekend (presumably to join Taylor at Rotherham) so we are down to one main goalkeeper and a couple of kids.

Thought that was done already? Suppose might have been a few logistics to sort moving so far up north for his family. Incidentally it was us you beat out to get the signature of your main keeper right now.

Not saying Stone is ideal as number 1 but Stevens hasnt set the world alight, a bit like Holy in that he hasnt done much wrong as such (bar his kicking) but aside from a couple of games (Barnsley away) he hasnt been stand out... and like Stone doesnt seem capable of saving long range shots.

We need to get a number 1 in permanent and get that continuity, I wonder if Oxford will call Jack back because we are close in the table whereas they probably expected to be not in competition with us in the table with them being top end and us at the bottom. It seemed a strange move at the time.

We have invested money in other area's of the team so if it costs a £100k or something to get it right then it would be worth it.

I always find it strange when clubs loan to other clubs in the same division.
Some say "well they take points off their parent clubs rivals" but if they were good enough for that then why arent they good enough to play for their parent club?
Thats aside, id quite happily let anyone in any league take on Zain Westbrooke and contribute to whats left of his contract...atrocious signing for us.

It was a strange signing and we really struggled for whatever reason in the summer to sort the goal keeper situation out. Obviously our best keeper is at Chesterfield on loan because he couldn't stop getting sent off! (and has been again at Chesterfield) in Lucas.

Its something we really need to resolve as even last season we couldnt settle on it once Lucas had his second red, then Holy came in and wasn't good enough etc.

We have had a few decent goalies on loan such as Lumley, Bonham and Etheridge. Plenty of duffers too mind (Kelle Roos and Fraser Forster amongst them surprisingly!).
Currently we have a goalie who cant get a game that went to the last Euros, and a 3rd keeper who had been part of the England U19 squad.
Definitely an important area of the team as Belshaw has helped to win so many points for us since he has been here, despite being on the shorter side for a goalie.

We've had a loan first choice 'keeper for the last three seasons - Alex Palmer (now WBA's number one), Josh Griffiths (England U21) and now Carl Rushworth (England U21) and all be pretty solid for us.

We also had Josef Bursik (England U21) on an emergency loan for a game (two?) in the PO's, so we're clearly on good terms with someone around the England set-up and/or the PL reserve league with Brighton noting how well we've developed GK's recently.

Morgan Whittaker from Swansea, currently on loan at Plymouth is somebody we're looking at in the January window. We're also keeping an eye on Brightons Evan Ferguson.

Ashton has confirmed we'll be looking at multiple additions in the window. Another CM is likely on the list.

We’ve signed experienced midfielder Dylan McGeouch, free agent, previously played for the likes of Celtic, Hibs and Aberdeen up in Scotland as well as Coventry & Sunderland. 2 caps for Scotland.

Goes straight into the squad tonight so I assume he’s match fit. We needed some more experience in that area with David Davis & Reece Brown missing a lot of games so far.

Sounds like we are going to be very active in the January window. At least 3 signings it seems as the CEO spoke about removing one of our registered players (probably Ball - long term injury). Currently on 20/22.

Morgan Whittaker is apparently a target, but not sure how easy it would be to get him. Never say never with our owners now though. Usually the names mentioned in local media never turn out to be actual targets.

Expecting a striker for definite and a number 10 I guess. We create a ridiculous amount of chances but don't put the ball in the net.

So many injuries now, bit concerned about the next month or so. Harness hobbled off last night and looked long term.

Regan Poole being linked with a host of Championship sides. Out of contract in the summer as far as we're aware and is going to be one we chose to sell in January rather than lose on a free in the summer providing the fee is right.

We're due Montsma back from his ACL in the next month or so and he's hardly a bad CB so it won't impact us as much as losing someone in another position, albeit you'd rather keep him until the end of season if you could.

I did like Regan Poole when he was with us.

He's done well for us. Spent the first half of his time here at RB but moved to CB due to injury problems and stayed there since bar the last three or four games.

The only slight criticism of him at CB is that he's a little too all action for me at times compared to the calmness of Jackson and Walsh.

Looks like Danny Ward is coming back to Bolton where he started his career.

Always been a good player at Championship level, unfortunately wasn’t able to take it up to notch at the time when we were still in the Premier League.

Top scorer at Huddersfield last season when they made the championship playoffs. Can play up top or out wide.

Be a solid signing to start the window off.

We're being linked to Sam Bell on loan from Bristol City. Rumours that Wade Elliott was watching their u21 fixture the other day to have a look at him, and talk about Bell has been increasing in recent weeks.

Will be the first time the son of an ex-Cheltenham player (Mickey Bell) has played in the Football League for Cheltenham if he does sign. Zac Guinan (Steve Guinan's son) has made a number of first team appearances but not in the Football League.

Luongo is training with us with a view to a permanent switch. Would be class signing and low risk as he's a free agent. Expecting us to strengthen significantly this window.

Looks like we have now made an enquiry for Jack Taylor of Peterborough. Certainly fits the bill but the price tag will likely be a stumbling block.

He's 32, and 1 goal in 5 appearances goal scorer and he won't improve us, so a no from me

So what if he’s 32, nothing wrong with getting 18 months out of him.

1 in 5 goalscorer for a bloke whose spent most of his career on the wing, and at championship level - not sure what the issue is there.

Won’t improve us? He absolutely would improve us at this level, apart from Sadlier and Dapo - Who else do we have who can play out wide in an attacking position?
Kachunga certainly isn’t the answer.
He’s also spent the last 13 seasons out of 14 at Championship level.

To snub a player who got 14 goals last season at championship level is daft. Who are you expecting instead?

I was going to type pretty much exactly this and then thought I can’t be bothered wasting my time responding to a comment like that. He’s a proper championship player and has been most of his career and we are in league 1. If it’s affordable he definitely improves us. Whether we can get a better option who knows but he definitely improves us.

We've made an enquiry to Peterborough about Jack Talyor. We also have Massimo Luongo training with us.

McKenna wants to get business out the way ASAP. Expect a striker and a CM.

Don't think we've been linked with anyone. That's not unusual as the majority of the players we ended up signing in the summer almost none of them had been mentioned before. Key one is nailing down the keeper spot, if Stevens is staying until the end of the season great but if not we need to move on that quickly as Stone is simply not the answer.

Suspect we might see a few outgoings before anything else to trim the squad now we've got an idea who can hack it in L1 and those where it might be a step too high for them.

Considering we were going to throw 200k at Stockton in the summer I would rather we spend a fee on trying to get a permanent decent keeper in as we need to sort that area out, Hladky would be the one I would be looking at if we maybe offer Ipswich a decent fee as he isn't their number 1 and would be a perfect fit.

Need a left back/wing back with Small and McCarron gone back to their clubs as Mal needs some competition.

Would like another striker as well as we only have three out and out (Willo, Ellis and Mipo) rather than risk injuries and shoe horning Politic or Butterworth up top. Wouldn't shock me if we went after Harratt on a permanent all be it think he would be one for the future as not sure he is L1 ready, fans will no doubt want him due to his place in Vale folklore from the final.

Outgoings will be interesting, Charsley needs to leave and its an odd one, he looked decent early season but has disappeared and he never let us down so hope he goes for his own sake rather than not rating him, he would walk into most L2 clubs.

Walker may go, not sure whats gone on there but he has been decent for us but since Derby he had concussion and hasn't been seen since!

I would look to loan Cass out and get another centre half in to help him develop and loan McDermott out if we can get him at a decent level (rumours its a done deal to Oldham or Yeovil).

Then there is Lucas... assuming he returns from loan I would be tempted to keep him on as number 2 and loan Stone to get more game time and develop.

Hopefully this means you won’t recall El-Mizouni from us, he’s having a very, very good season for us. I think it would be best for him to stay here, he’s a nailed on starter every game.
