We've apparently offered Curtis Davies a deal and are expecting a response this week.

Not sure about this - his experience could be invaluable, but is he still up for the rigours of League 1?
Davies was outstanding in the Championship in 21/22 but for whatever reason, presumably injuries compounded with age, he was just missing a step this season. He probably needed a run of games to keep himself at optimum condition but wasn't afforded the opportunity.

The impact off the field will be significant. He can still play at this level, dominating in the air and can still hold his own against the strikers of this league comfortably. The problem is stopping him getting turned too quickly and not asking him to play complicated football.

You'd like to think with playing 3 at the back we have the players to cover for if he gets turned. I suspect his job will be to win the aerial battles and keep it calm at the back - especially if we bring in a loanee goalkeeper.

As you say though, I suspect the main purpose for him coming in will be for his off the field attributes.

We've signed Danny Andrew from Fleetwood. Happy with that, very experienced, great delivery and get's goals and assist's from left back.

Would your response have been the same if you had signed him when Portsmouth wanted him in the summer ?
He was due to sign on deadline day in January but, it fell through then he went out and beat some women up that night. If he had signed he may have been down in Pompey and might not have been in that situation. Normally you find out it isn't the first time so I think we did dodged a bullet.

Brown always scores against us so this must be Barton's way of stopping the goals :bg:

3 decent signings. More defenders who can defend though please

He has a court date on 7th July, so could go down for assault

Surprised anyone moved for Brown before his court case, even if it's unlikely he'd go to prison but if you were to have a guess at what manager would, it'd be Barton wouldn't it.

That's the thing with Barton, it's not like he can morally say "no we shouldn't sign him because..."

We can't all have a nice guy like Jon Brady :bg:

Think Rovers might be a dark horse for promotion. Getting some decent players in. As you say though, defensively need to improve.

Jevani Brown is a funny one, he had a great few months last season but before that he seemed fairly average so be interesting to see if a one season wonder or not.

Nah I would never go that far, but optimistic we can hit the safety points quicker than last season.
Its 4 decent signings really with Grant Ward coming back... he was our best player at the end of last season when we were generally shit (especially at your place!)

Marko Marosi is being linked with a move away with numerous football league clubs interested.

Not the news I wanted to see at all. One of if not the best keeper in this division and I would hate to lose him but I reckon he’s gone. Whether it’s a top end League 1 club or bottom end Championship club they will have to pay us a good fee as he’s got another year left on his contract plus the club have the option of extending that to another year so theoretically two years left. We always have been blessed with having good keepers but I feel this time we won’t replace this one with better.

Wasn't it Bristol Rovers where the Her Game Too thing really took off?
Yeah the founders are gasheads. They have put out a statement but cant comment on any details as its an ongoing legal issue

I guess we will know after the outcome of the case whether this has been good business or not!

Gutted.

Purely from a footballing perspective he’s a class act. Easily my favourite player in the past 10 years.
Really surprised you rate him that highly. Was a real enigma whilst at Cambridge, brilliant one minute, utterly ineffective and greedy the next. Not a team player at all, with rumours he was a bad egg in the camp to boot. If he had progressed that far, then his off field antics are even more stupid and reprehensible. Will be amazed if he avoids at least a short custodial sentence, but we will have to see what the court decides. Better for your club in the long term to take the moral high ground and get rid?

HOW THE FUCK have Fleetwood town managed to sign Danny Mayor?? Is this some sort of fucking piss take?

A little jumped up proper non league bus stop club outside Blackpool with dodgy money sign a class midfielder why does he only ever play for tinpot clubs like Bury and now Fleetwood??

What a wasted career and no doubt he'll have a blinder against us like he always does ffs.

FLEETWOOD??

I was excited when the Brown transfer rumours first materialised on deadline day in January, and disappointed when we couldn't get it over the line.

Perhaps if he'd signed that event would never have happened, but in hindsight i'm glad we missed out. From a purely footballing perspective, Rovers have got themselves a good player at this level.

Exeter the big losers in all this. Not a good look at trying to retain him, and instead having to let him go without a whimper.
