Good player and great leader. Centre of a back 3 is perfect for him now as he was never the most athletic but he has lost some of what he had with some recent injuries, he’s good with the ball at his feet though so don’t get any misconceptions that he’s just a head it/kick it type got a good pass between the lines on him.

His lack of athleticism was very clear in his appearances toward the end of last season and why I think it was announced before the playoffs he would be leaving. As long as you’re not playing a high line and asking him to be isolated he’ll fit in nicely

In fairness the strikers at this level with pace, don’t utilise it correctly anyway. If they do, typically they finish like pissed up toddlers.

I’m already sure that his athleticism isn’t going to impact us in the slightest.

Stop winding up PV. If youre all so much into PV how come your gates are so shite?
Clearly not aimed at your club. We do have pretty poor atrendances....there are a number of reasons for that. Not least, we have had another team in our small city do well for the last 10 seasons.

I Genuinely feel that we could average 10k if we harnessed our potential support. I speak to people daily who are Vale fans who don't go that much. We'd almost certainly be better than Bournemouth or Brentford.

There's so much commitment to our club that I don't see with many other clubs.

So tonight we have 'on trial' Reece Cole and Julien Dacosta.
The latter fills me with more hope than the former
Dacosta is good going forwards but terrible defensively. Would be better as a winger than a right back. Coventry fans warned us that he’s made of glass when we signed him last summer and alas he was injured pretty much straight away and we never saw him again.

We had Josef Varney (Centre back from Oldham), Bobby Duncan and Richie Wellens son Charlie play for us as trialists last night.

Couple of decent signings for Carlisle that.

Hahaha we weren't really ever going to sign Lowe who is just an average L2 midfielder. We only used him to lure sneaky fuckers like you off our proper target and that was McGeouch who is a far better midfielder than Lowe. :P1:

You lot fell for it.

I don’t believe it was Lowe we were in for. People putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.

I suppose you're right, what would we want with a former Salford player who's nowt special?

Only a poor L1 club would be pleased at signing a Salford reject..

I know you’re trying to trigger Vale fans, hopefully they don’t bite.

But Lowe is a decent player, I just don’t think he’s the profile of player we need and would have gone for

Some of our fans seem convinced we are after Troy Deeney… surely not though!

It’s nuts / laughable that some actually seem to genuinely believe that same for Billy Sharp just because he’d have been coached by Croz at some point. The blokes been earning big money his whole career somehow I doubt he will come to Vale for a couple of grand a week just because he buys into “the project” or something.

Because we are thinking about promotion to the second tier this season.

It sounds like we’re still in the market for 6 more players, presuming this is under the assumption Knight leaves and it’s looking ever more likely. CB, WB, CM and then 3 attackers. I think three are likely to be permanent and the rest through loans.

One of the young lads we brought in, 18 year old from Burton, really stood out today in our first friendly - so it’s not completely out the question that some of the young lads we bring in to initially play for our u21 side get opportunities from the bench this season.

Knight is off to Bristol City for £2m plus Kane Wilson, by the sounds of it. I know a lot of people on here rated Kane Wilson. I’ve never seen him play.

Any idea why the move to Bolton fell through?

I wonder if it was something to do with Bristol wanting to use him as a pawn in the Knight deal. He has already spoken to Warne and was shown around about a month ago so looks to have been ongoing.

It looks like it’s close to a done deal anyway, obviously a player with good pedigree - now we’ve signed Joe Ward he comes in as competition at RWB. Two exceptional options to have at this level it would seem. It will be interesting to see who wins out.

I dont think Kane is proven in L1. L2 he looked decent though

Luke Leahy hands in a transfer request. Huge blow that one. Apparently he’s not happy with the way Cotterill was forced out. One of our best players and personally I think he’s a bottom end Championship player. Hopefully we get a decent enough fee for him but that one hurts.

Or maybe Wrexham have been in his ear and this was a convenient excuse. I know Barton would want him back but got a feeling he will end up at Disney FC

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Sol Brynn confirmed on a season long loan for ourselves.

Seems a solid signing on paper, did well for Swindon last season.

Consensus 3rd best keeper in the division after Vigs and Harry Lewis last season. Happy with that.

Unfortunately it does look like he’s going to Tourist FC. Shame as he’s been one of my favourite ever players to play for us but if he joins them lot he can get fucked. Hope he’s a huge disaster for them!

Reece Cole. Midfielder signed from Hayes and Yeading on one year deal.
Not setting anything alight in the transfer market so far!

Join Club Asbestos. We’ve signed one 36-year old CB.

A couple more signings apparently “very close”, but then they would say that, wouldn’t they?

My initial reaction was one of meh, but he could end up being a decent squad option. Seems like he lost his way since leaving Brentford and a one year deal is low risk.

Doesn’t change the fact we really need experienced bodies in soon and now the squad is on a mini tour of Cornwall, we probably won’t see anything till next week.

He was League Two POTY wasn’t he, sure I read that?

It’s just been announced. Happy with that - I hadn’t realised he was so highly rated at WBA and within the England set up at once upon of time. He seems like an ideal signing for us given the system.

I believe this is actually the first player we’ve spent a fee on in four years too - although Rotherham will receive a fee for Washington if we win promotion.

Actually, another announcement - free transfer with a sell on clause so we’re still yet to sign anyone for a fee since Bielik in 2019.
