Anyone recognise this chap? Was at our game tonight and assume he’s a probable new signing/ trialist.

Looks like Marko Marosi is going to be next to leave. Apparently we’ve been offered 275k plus add ons from an unamed club. Most likely be one of the big League 1 clubs or a Championship club. Any of your clubs needing a keeper and have £££ to spend? Could be you. Apparently clubs sniffing around Bayliss too. That’ll certainly be Championship clubs no doubt about that. We’re getting ripped apart it’s so depressing.

Brighter news for us we’re interested in Sam Smith along with Blackpool and Port Vale so I hear. We can now offer him more money now that we’ve got these transfer fees coming in for our players so we ‘should’ be able to get him on board I hope.

Dion Rankine from Chelsea apparently
Yeah just seen that. Looks very pacy and direct. Plus can play a couple of positions which I know GC is keen on. Must be a done deal if he’s made his way to meet the squad in the arse end of Cornwall!

Imagine he would end up at Blackpool if that’s the case. Like you we’ve made good money (300-400k) the last couple of weeks so should be competitive but imagine they’d offer the bigger pull than either of us.

Micky's big book of contacts again. Has he brought in anyone he hasn't worked with before yet?

Christian Norton scored a hat-trick on trial at Accrington last night - make sure Micky doesn't see that or you may well be signing the worst forward I have ever seen in a Cheltenham shirt

We're still working towards signing Macauley Bonne who appears to be taking his time on what to do next. Chesterfield rumoured to have offered him a large sack of money to drop back down to the National League.

You’re most probably right. Be a good signing for anybody who can get him in this division. An ‘ITK’ who’s called everything correctly so far this summer with regards to us has said us, yourselves and Blackpool so I’d imagine it isn’t wrong tbf.

We’ve signed Morgan Feeney from Carlisle who I don’t think MM has worked under. Also Winchester on a permanent deal but apparently that was more Matty Taylor’s request. I’m happy with what I’ve heard about Tom Ware joining our recruitment team. I’d also be very happy with Sam Smith joining after he’s recent couple of seasons at this level but it will be hard to beat off competition for him.

MM has got some rebuild to do with us looking to lose a few players. I hope Roland invests some of the money back in but I’m not sure if he will after reading and hearing some of the reasons as to why Cotterill and Caldwell left our club which I don’t think I’d be allowed to post online the reasons.

From the outside, it does sound like he's getting all his mates together.

As I posted before - if you suddenly hear about Andy Wilcox being in the director's box, then that would be the time to panic.

Jason Knight joined Bristol City yesterday for £2m. It's a good move for all parties. He's a scrappy midfielder who can run all day, keep the ball ticking over, but really looked no more impactful in League One than he did in the Championship. We needed a genuine difference maker, Knight is more suited to a team that is punching up - when we were struggling with our band of rejects in the Championship, largely playing without the ball, his energy was invaluable. I'm sure it will be for Bristol this season as they look to avoid the drop.

When we were dominating possession and needed him to provide some creativity and goals - he just didn't have it in him. Luke Leahy is a good example, ok he's an older player but Wycombe have just signed him - a similar player to Knight - who had a much better season than Knight, for a 10th of the fee.

The sales of Knight and Bielik have given us roughly £2.5m (ish) in transfer fees, but importantly freed up roughly £2m off our wage bill. We desperately need to add a goalscorer or two with that money and we should be in a much better position.

Had you even paid arsenal what you owed for bielik?

It was confirmed after the sale that the original payment plan to Arsenal was continued after administration. Bielik's wages and ongoing costs to Arsenal were factored within this year's business plan. It was £4.5m (roughly half of what we paid in 2021. I'd guess it was a little over £2m per year - inline with his contract.

Been announced on Finnish media (where else) that Viljami Sinisalo will be joining us on Monday on loan from Villa.

Not clear to me whether he will be our first choice goalie or back up to Woods. Cue Burton fans saying he's rubbish.

Tyler Walker back at SB on a 2 year contract. I know he didn’t cut it at Pompey and had limited starts at Coventry but at least we know exactly what he is capable for us being virtually a one in two scorer. Should give us another decent option up top alongside Ben House for competition.

Decent enough but I always think he's quite lightweight, is often injured and doesn't strike me as the type who will battle when the chips are down. We had him on loan when he was younger and he's clearly improved a bit but I imagine he'll be on a few quid, so too much of a gamble for us. Could go well though if he starts well.

Not broken our wage structure to bring him in so I imagine he has taken quite a drop to sign here.

I'd imagine it will still be 3-4k a week, which would put him as our highest earner. I believe Lincoln have a fair bit of money behind them, so can probably afford to take that gamble. We'd need somebody to be ready and available from the off and to play regularly if we paid that sort of money. We've just offloaded James Wilson, who I imagine was our top earner. Insanely gifted footballer but made of glass...we can't afford another like him.

Pretty sure our CEO said we had a budget that was in the bottom 10 last season. No idea how that compares to Vale and I don’t imagine we will be spending anywhere near a lot of the sides in Lge One.

Our manager claimed that our budget will be competitive this season, but that might just mean competitive enough to avoid relegation. Ripley and Grant will be on a few quid but I don't think the other signings will be on that much....one has come from Accrington, another from Cardiff reserves and one from a smallish team in Scotland. Our owners are wealthy and the business that they own employs a lot of people, but they're not mega wealthy and their business doesn't have a huge turnover. We'd need serious investment if we got to the level above, just to tread water.

Ours was 14th I believe, decent signing that for Lincoln as long as he stays fit. Would have stayed up in 2016 had he not got crocked a couple of weeks after signing

Pleased to have Tyler Walker back at SB. We know him and he knows us. He was great for us when on loan. Since he left us, he hasn't really settled anywhere so returning to a familiar place will do him wonders.

Very pleased to have Walker back, it's an important signing. He had the best spell of his career has been with us and whether that was because of, or a combination of, Appleton's style, being closer to home or just one of those player and club relationships that work, it's a good option to have at the very least. It's been something that has cropped up time and time again and we've apparently tried for in just about every transfer window in the last two seasons.

This is our 5th season in L1 and the first time we'll have a squad with two decent senior strikers in it, we've generally been an experienced striker and a young, inexperienced loan as our options (last season it was House stepping up from the National League and did a solid job for us given the circumstances).

He's also our 5th signing of the summer and, again, no-one had a sniff of it until it was announced. We've been annoyingly good at keeping things under wraps in the last two transfer windows, absolutely nothing is leaking out of the Club.

Also all signed and our own players, not a loan in sight yet so wont be losing out to a recall back to Forest like what happened with Walker the first time around.

Elliot Thorpe joins on a season long loan from Luton. Played 5 games for Burton last season.

We sort of messed up his development last year with the Burton loan. Loaned to them just before they sacked Hasselbaink, new manager didn’t fancy him and because he made a sub app in our first game of the season before the Burton loan he couldn’t go out again to another club. Frustrating season for him after what looked quite a promising pre season period.

He’s not really played for us but when he has it’s actually been as a RWB, and not in central midfield which is what he was billed as. He looks tidy enough and at right wing back demonstrated he’s got a decent delivery on him. Can’t tell you too much more though as he’s rarely played.

Dion Rankine confirmed on a season long loan from Chelsea
Looks a good pick up. Very quick and direct and seen a few comments saying they were expecting him to get a Championship loan. Hopefully he will settle in well and I’m pleased we have genuine pace on both flanks now.

Sang was getting some game time at Cardiff and we know we’ve fended off competition for Ripley, we won’t be paying peanuts and has somewhat justified the savings we made in January.

Equally Tyler Walker probably won’t be on massive money, he’s struggled with injury and form in the Championship and has had to drop down similar to say Wilson with us.

Can’t imagine Willo was on peanuts leaving Salford after playing Prem/Champ football.

A guy who is bonafide ITK mentioned Sam Smith is in talks and trying to firm up an offer from a Championship club, but we've also had meetings with him. I would assume the Championship club is likely to be a Plymouth, Rotherham, etc.

I guess we will see.
