Yeah, hopefully we've pretty much got the keeper sorted since Langley has been with us since the start of preseason. After that, striker as you say, someone with pace I'd hope and then look and see what we can get on loan, the better players won't be available till relatively late in the window. Would be happy to get Gordon back from Palace, especially if he can bring Scotty Banks with him.
Having said that. Langley isn't in today's squad

464ch4 can fill the role Dennis had of the poacher role which may reduce the injury risk.

If I remember Michael bridges was an injury crock before he came to Carlisle the ended up one of simpsons best ever signings, he can manage players quite wel Simpson, find his weakness is more tactically but he always seemed to manage his players well.
He's done as a striker, needs to play as a 10, with balls played into feet. Hope he gets his career back on track. He was different class before his injuries, massive shame.

First opportunity to see most of our new signings today vs Coventry and so far, pleasantly surprised. Tom Carroll and Ryan Trevitt look really good on the ball and always on the move. Also, Jack Aitchison is busy and links the play nicely. Obviously it’s only a friendly but I’m edging back towards being optimistic we’ll be fine.

With Leonard signing, every player who made more than 8 starts for the team last year including loanees is back with us. Very consistent. Very different approach to the way stevenage have gone about, be interested to see which the best option is.

we've also got Curtis Thompson on trial as well.

To repeat from earlier in the thread when he was on trial at Stevenage - very good at this level if you can keep him fit, but that could be a challenge.

Sounds like we're hoping to get one done before next weekend, and aiming for the next two signings to be permanents before we start considering loans towards the end of the transfer window.

Wellens has said we will sign Ed Turns again on loan from Brighton this week when they get back from their US tour, much needed centre half cover for ourselves.

Also said we offered a deal to trialist Josh Martin, but then withdrew it.

Injuries picked up today might speed up our pursuit of another attacking player.

Langley has been sent packing, so back to square 1, unless one of the loans we’re signing on Monday is a keeper.

Not sure who, but sounds like we were close to signing a player and he failed to turn up for a medical. Jordan Rhodes’ name has been mentioned again as the player. Warne clearly not happy - turns out we want 3-4 players now. Not sure if we’ve allowed more budget to the playing staff or not but sounds like it could be a busy week.

An Accrington fan site has linked us with Ethan Hamilton.

He’s done you a favour if it is Rhodes

Kyle Hudlin looks set to come on loan. 6ft 9 but did little on loan at AFCW.

Guess if he’s a young loan as a fourth choice it’s ok assuming Wilson and an experienced third choice come in. Apparently he’s crap in the air but has decent feet!

Just seen that, he's always stood out for them against us. Maybe the press got the wrong Accy player we made a bid for!

Was he the massive striker from Solihull? Very underwhelming!

Would not be a surprise to see him at our place next week......The type of player Evatt has signed all pre -season under 25 with plenty games under him and room to improve.

One is a keeper, the other a striker - can't remember which interview but Simpson all but confirmed this.

Rhodes would do well for us at this level - he's a luxury player in that you aren't going to get much else from him but teams at this level give you chances and his finishing is still of a good enough to be a problem. It's just Huddersfield aren't in a position to essentially play with 10 men in the hope Rhodes pops up with a goal.

In each of the last three seasons, he's still had Huddersfield's best goals per minute ratio (all at a decent rate too). He's just not afforded the minutes due to the above. I think considering we categorically aren't spending any fees - he's probably our best option. Unless we can convince Assombalonga to drop into League One.

The other options: Chris Martin, Billy Sharp, Lyle Taylor, Connor Wickham, Troy Deeney and Martyn Waghorn (who looks like he may have done enough to get a deal on trial). I'm sure all could be useful at this level but feel like Rhodes is probably the best of the bunch.

We’re signing Luke Plange on loan from Palace.

I know Lincoln fans have nothing good to say about him, but we can only hope there’s something there that clicks this season.

He was decent for our academy, was thrown into the deep end due to necessity and actually was alright for the first month. We then managed to get £1.5m for him and he’s been shite ever since, at times towards the back end of the season he was so comically out his depth that he may as well been a fan who won a competition.

I was surprised how badly he did for Lincoln though.

Apparently on the verge of signing Paris Maghoma from Brentford.

Looks the of player we need and can definitely bring something to the side.

Seems to be highly rated by both AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons fans too, who were expecting him to go to the Championship.

Better or worse than Jack Stretton?

Signed.....Could do with another who can put the ball in the net but squad that is certainly good enough for promotion
