Our centre back Dan Happe has signed a new 2 year deal.

Good news for us as that now means we have 4 centre backs ready for next season, so one area we don't need to sign players in.

Rumours of us looking to bring back Lawrence Vigouroux back on loan from Burnley now Kompany has gone, but I think it will depend on whether James Trafford leaves or not, think its a bit of a long shot myself.

Laurence Maguire has bid farewell to Crawley. Off to MK Dons it seems.

Only here on loan but a decent left sided centre back for us but he couldn't get into Chesterfield's squad in the National league.

Rumour is Will Wright will be joining him. If so that's 3/5 of the craziest defence we've had gone.

Chey Dunkley confirmed to Chesterfield. Happy we’ve got more deadwood and a high earner out.

Not so happy that I’m told this afternoon that Dan Udoh is off to Blackburn. He deserves this move but it’s a big blow for us to lose our best striker. Down to nine players left at the club now and still yet to sign anybody. Need 12 signings minimum.

We’ve won the race to sign George Lloyd off Cheltenham beating off two other League 1 clubs for him. Been told the one club in for him was Northampton but no idea on the other. Should be announced tomorrow.

Not a particularly exciting signing but he apparently did well under Hurst at Grimsby. Hurst rarely has got a signing wrong for us so I’ll trust him and Doig on this one.

Still no sign of any incoming yet. Our head of recruitment seems to be over in the US with our 7 a side team which is abit if a worry.

Interesting that we've not heard a peep about that, but we're normally such a tight ship with rumours under Brady we never really know anything until the day someone signs. Sort of a lose/lose situation here - losing out on yet another player are going to set off the usual people about having the smallest budget in the league, but if we signed him I bet the same people would be moaning at the lack of ambition based on his stats. I can't imagine either us or you have budgeted to make him a top earner at the club based on his record.

I think only 6 League 1 clubs have signed anyone so far? That stat might be be out of date now, but majority of the league in the same boat. That said, the ones who tend to go early tend to be people willing to match the higher wage demands straight away, so maybe a little surprised Wrexham haven't, but that maybe depends on what pond you're fishing in - if you're competing with Championship teams for names, I imagine the players you're looking at have plenty of options and time to play clubs off each other to get the best deal.

Yeah I'm not overly worried yet as I didn't expect anything until at least the window reopens . Although I do have a nagging concern that now we are competing with clubs who have just as much money as we do (and can offer Champions ship football) recruitment may start to become a little harder.

One of our ITKs reckons some players who we've been discussing terms with are waiting to hear from us, so possibly we are waiting on top targets and have plan Bs to move onto if they don't pan out. I think that's how Parkinson tends to operate.

We’ll most likely be one of the clubs not to make a signing for a few more weeks at least. We tend to be slow and things start to kick into action come July. Particularly loans seem to happen later on.

Luckily we have over a dozen players signed on already so there’s no mad panic to fill gaping holes in the squad.

I’d guess we’ve spoken to a number of players and have offered deals, but we’re probably lower down the list of preferred destinations due to geography and the wages we can offer. Players will hold off as long as possible while they seek the best deal.

Yeah but I had hoped we'd learnt from last season when we left it late and ended up with no strikers after Nombe went.
I know geography is an issue, but apparently the training ground is a big pull so that should balance it out..

I'll let you in to a little secret. Forget about training grounds most footballers are only interested in TWO things. The size of their wage packet & the length of their contract.

Hurst really likes re-signing old players, doesn't he!
Graham Turner used to have a terrible habit re-signing his old Hereford players for us back in the day but Hurst goes one better!

As a sidenote, see Lincoln are in for Tom Bayliss. Championship quality player on his day and under Steve Cotterill he was easily in the top 10 midfielders in this league. Unfortunately last season he seemed to decline massively and has an attitude problem. If you can get him interested, be a very good signing!

After hearing nothing in the three weeks since Wembleys shambles, the club this week woke up once more with 3 pre-season games named. And the confirmation Evatt not going anywhere. Friday we learned Charles may now need a operation and may not be fit for the start of the season.
With releasing Bodvarrson and Jerome we will now certainly be in the market for another forward.

Could see Devante Cole rocking up at your place.

That's the sort of signing Vale made in the last couple of seasons and look what happened. I'd be concerned.

2 goals in 27 appearances last season - both in the same game against Shrewsbury.

The guy is a workhorse and fans will love him for it, but he's not a goalscorer and a lot of Cheltenham fans really aren't bothered by him going. I'm on the fence - I think he'd have been decent in League 2. I do think that's probably his level though.

I see Mickey Moore is still coming out with bullshit as well. Apparently he played a major role in Lloyd's development from academy to first team - failing to mention that Lloyd was already an established first team squad member when he first came in to the club.

I'd be wary of this too. Yes, he might have been good for you in the past but he was part of a quite frankly dreadful Burton team. Smacks of relegation signings to me.
Got to agree , He struggled to get a game in our worst team in history 2019 team that had no money and played all the kids

McGowan is what you'd call a leader. Good talker, won't avoid a tackle, will put his body on the line, much better in the air then you'd guess from his size. Only thing keeping him from being a solid league 1 player is his slowness. He is 100% a fullback, and not a wing back.

1st year in League 2 under Brady had a very good season, but after a summer time injury slipped into being 3rd choice after a break out season by Lintott, and was surplus to requirements and was shopped around a bit when we went up. Following a big dip in form to Lintott and long term injury to Odimayo, he found himself 1st choice for a fair bit of the season, but we are a bit overloaded for fullbacks at the moment. So bit surprised we're still trying to ship him, but not astonished.

Read on PNE online that Adam Phillips at Barnsley is a target. Any good?

Quality see my reply above think he is from the Preston Area
Aye. Garstang. Was on Blackburn's books as a kid.

I'd guess he'd be lined up to replace Alan Browne if he doesn't re-sign. If the rumour is true.
