Rotherham have panic bought their entire squad already and we're not even in June.

Not according to Steve Evans, the seven players brought in so far were all on his wish list from last season, players whose careers he has followed for a long time.

Whether they will blend into a team capable of achieving promotion is another matter of course but all 7 have been big part of promotion winning teams.

Also 16 players left the club and 2 more are available for transfer and Tiehi is likely to leave for a fee, so it's necessary to get on with recruitment early.

Plus remember the fans had lost connection with the club.
Matt Taylor and Liam Richardson produced dire football.
Losing is bad enough but the manner of some of the defeats were shocking.

Now in a matter of 5 or 6 weeks the fans are mainly back on side, not everybody here likes SE but nobody can say it's boring.

Liam Kelly signed from Coventry.
I'm worried about his age (34) and his chances of picking up injuries.

Coventry fans though seem to love him and think he will be brilliant for us!

Sometimes you just have to trust the gaffer's judgement and hope it works out.
They said the same to us about Zain Westbrooke

Bringing in a solid core of players who all know and have a history of performing in league one seem a decent enough strategy. A couple of your signings I thought we may be in for.

Normally it would be a worry building a squad with so many changes in such a short space of time but if there is one manager capable of handling player churn it's Evans- it's what he does!

Yeah Rotherham know this level like the back of their hand and Evans is no mug. They know what they're bringing in. Personally I feel a bit blind to this level after so long away and I'm not sure there's an awful lot of experience of this level in our coaching and football management ranks. Don't know which of our players will step up, whether the signings will know the level etc.

Chey Dunkley rumoured to be close to signing for us (Paul Cook connection from his Wigan days).

Heard anything at your end Shrews fans? Know you offered him a new deal initially

I've heard a similar rumour this end. We offered him another deal, but given the alleged overspend in the Cotterill days it's likely the deal would have been on less favourable terms. His form fell away at the back end of the season when we switched from a back 5 to a back 4 which exposed his lack of pace. Solid defender for league 2

Sold Ollie Clarke to Swindon the other day, great servant but he wanted to go back down south and we got money for a 31 year old.

And we’ve signed Frazer Blake-Tracy previously at Swindon, left back, we do need improving down our left so makes sense.

Thoughts on Fevrier?

I said this a few pages ago:

Bags and bags of potential, but is certainly culpable of trying to beat his man more times than need be. He started last season brilliantly, but quietened down a bit for a few months mid-season - I guess that is to be expected in a youngster's first full season, particularly as teams started to work him out.

Think he may have played more minutes for us than anybody else last season too so a bit of fatigue may have set in, but he looked like he was starting to deliver more of an end product in the last few weeks of the season too.

It seems there was a fair bit of interest in him. I think we're definitley looking to bring in young players who we we can develop and hope their best days are ahead of them leading to potential sales getting more back than we paid. I think both Fevrier and Mingi fit that notion. Some won't work out I'm sure. I think we definitley admire Peterborough's model.

It seems from the press release we’ve signed him primarily as a winger despite us favouring wing backs and Fevrier mainly playing as one last season.

Similarly we’ve signed Mingi to play on the right of a back three so it’s looking like 343 might be our chosen formation next season.

Agree with this.

Expect to see 3-4-3.

Would be ace to see a front 3 of Fevrier, Barry ( ) and Oloafe. The pace would be frightening!

You’ll be dipping extensively in to non-league if you wanna follow Peterborough.

Another day, linked with another ex Wigan player. Tom Pearce this time. We could do with a left back so would make sense

And still lose big money every season as well. In isolation they have some big sales but as an overall model, it's not as good as it's made out to be IMO unless I'm missing something and there are figures to suggest otherwise.

All quiet at LN5, not really any proper rumours either.

Not necessarily unusual for us, very little gets out the Club nowadays anyway and we don't tend to start moving in the transfer market until the second half of June. No news on those who were offered new deals either. Feels as though this could be one of our lowest squad turnovers in L1 as it stands but that will be driven by whether we decide to cash in on Roughan, Erhahon, Jensen and Sorenson.

They always seem to be up near the top of this division, they seem to play entertaining football when I've watched them down the years and seem to make good money on sales and drive a big price.

All fair remarks, and so are Lukes.

Personally think they done a pretty good job in recent years, those losses will probably be wiped out and more if Toney gets sold this summer, plus they have plenty of very valuable assets to overturn them.

Quite a delay in announcing a lot of players signing new contracts, not be shocked if we end up doing more business than the 5/6 expected initially.

Sorry, yeah, I was thinking from a financial point of view rather than a footballing one, I'm not sure if their big sales balance everything out. You'd expect them to be up there every season because they're one of the best payers outside of your Ipswich, Wednesday, Derby types.

Although they do pay well at L1 level, I do think it’s overstated by some. They definitely have major pull being a proper stepping stone for players. They prefer to go bigger on transfer fees than wages.

Absolutely, especially in the final third. Defensively they generally have a mid-table record but that's just how they want to play - they'd rather win 5-3 than 2-0.
