First signing over the line. Mannion in from Cambridge. Said I would be underwhelmed earlier due to his lack of experience, but from what Cambridge fans have said, sounds like a good signing. I think we will still bring in another keeper so should be a good battle for that first choice spot

So how much money do you reckon Bale would be on? Seems quite a stupid signing for Wrexham to make as he has been retired and he will demand a much higher wage than the rest of the team which could unsettle the other players.

That would definitely not be the way to go about things chucking loads of money away on one player like that, it'll come back and bite them.

Why not just sign good enough established football league players who are hungry, know the level and will not cost so much?

He’s ok, not really brilliant at anything but not crap at anything either, distribution certainly one of his strong points but he’s not the biggest so commanding his area is a weakness, it’s an ok signing but kinda feel we’re his level at this stage in his career if I’m being totally honest.

That leaves us with the error prone stevens which doesn’t fill me with confidence, very early obviously but I’m certainly not optimistic at present.

KTF.

He’s not called Ashley Maynard-Brewer or Harry Isted so he’s immediately better than what we had.

Deals also agreed with Luke Berry and Josh Edwards.

Luke Berry is a top signing. He’ll be far too good for League 1.

Mannion is a good backup but not a starter in my opinion.

Rob doesn't help himself with shit like this. I mean, really? Bale to come play for us? I guess Rob says it as a joke but this really pisses me and a fair few others off.

Apparently Okonkwo is asking for his wages similar to that of what he was getting at Arsenal. If we manage to secure him permanently, then it is a statement signing and a great deal for all.

Few rumours I’ve been told today:-

Incoming are Jai Rowe from Boston and Harrison Biggins from Doncaster.

PNE and Bolton are interested in Jack Price.

Marko Marosi looks close to signing for Rotherham. Signing for the Millers over Birmingham, Huddersfield and Rectum. Some money Steve Evans is throwing about as he’s our highest earner by some distance and should really be a Championship goalkeeper next season. Really good signing!

Mannion on a 3 year deal with an option of a 4th is a bit of a surprise I must admit.

Dan Kemp has gone to Stevanage. Another we rumoured to maybe interested in, though not an ironclad rumour. Still 6 other teams as well as us who are yet to make a signing.

First credible sounding rumour for us. Apparently we’re set to sign Partick Thistle right back Jack McMillan.

Previously managed by Caldwell and he’s Scottish so nailed on. He seems well liked up there and we need someone in that position, so if it happens then all good.

We've had a real habit last few years of tying down players to long contracts, them being poor and then being unable to shift them. It's easier to get players to sign but comes with that downside. That being said we are crying out for a longer term keeper, seem to change keepers every year.

WTF?

A 31yr old paraplegic?
Don’t know whether it’s 100% true but I got told these rumours this morning. We’ve now announced Biggins despite that rumour not even appearing on our fans forum and apparently Jai Rowe will be announced tomorrow too. So it’s got a fair chance of being true now as Biggins has become reality.

We have form for bizarre, waste of time freebies. Connor Wickham, Izzy Brown, Josh Onomah...

Alan Nixon has reported that we've moved ahead of Stevanage to sign Malachi Boateng from Palace. Maybe as a result of then signing Kemp today, though would be nice to beat them for someone after losing Appere.

Surprised Isted hasn’t worked out. He always got rave reviews in all his loans most notably the Barnsley one.

Weird as Keeper isn’t really one of those positions where you can look good in one system and not another unless it’s some extreme change like being asked to do sweeper keeper stuff.

Love Berry and he should be great at L1 level but as I’ve mentioned before he’s not been a regular starter for a quite a few seasons now and has become very much an impact sub. To be fair he’s fantastic at that role but his game has become hyper specific to quite an extreme degree. I expect NJ will want a lot more than that from him so be interesting to see how he does with that transition back. Can’t be going hell for leather throwing yourself around at 100 miles an hour when you’re wanting to control a game as I expect you will

Why? Pretty easy to tune this stuff out and just focus on the fact we're in league one with one of the largest budgets because of him. Who gives a shit if he says somd goofy shit here and there, he's a comedic writer/actor.

Hurst brought Jai Rowe in here so he would be signing yet another one of his former players. He was solid here, never found his right position though.

He was excellent for Boston last season as a RB but NLN to L1 is a huge step up

To give Isted some credit our defence last season was absolutely pathetic. With the chances and shots they let through it was always going to be difficult for a keeper to look good, he did make a few too many errors though and wasn't great at commanding the area.

Sounds like we are in talks with Kion Etete. Not the best scoring record but sounds very much like a Jones player at 6ft 6, winning flick ons to feed May/Leaburn.

He won't win any flick ons - he's absolutely useless in the air. Only player I recall actually being scared to use his head, and has lead in his boots.

Play to his feet though and he's awesome. Close control like you wouldn't believe, and stronger than an ox. He's a fantastic footballer and will improve any team in League 1. Had a great partnership with Alfie in the second half of the 21/22 season.
