Stockport County.
Lewis Bate signs for us. Another frugal deal by Mr Challinor.
Great signing that. Very classy player.

Free transfer too, only Challinor can make us better and lower the wage bill at the same time. Great recruitment.

Just seen that he cost Leeds £1.5m three years ago. Blimey.

So as rumoured, we have signed Tom Bayliss on a 2 year contract, having recently played for Shrewsbury. So have read mixed reviews form his previous clubs, like all new players, we shall see what he does after a few games in the squad.

Sam Sherring has turned down a contract to join a League 2 team (MK Dons apparently). He was on a few wishlists on here on a free I think as well, no fucking idea why he's gone down a league. Apparently it's not financially but that seems incredible unlikely.

Maybe he just really loves roundabouts and concrete cows

I think he just really loves big piles of cash. Like, I'm just fucking baffled by it. We were resigned for him going as he's on a free and a good age with plenty of experience, but there would definitely be League One clubs who could pay more than us that would have been interested.

A few rumours on players that are on our radar:

Rio Adebisi and Adam Lewis as left back options.

Anthony Scully, George Byers and Gassam Ahadme also apparently on our radar.

Scully I know we looked at signing in January too.

Cheltenham fans - What’s Luke Southwood like?

We’ve signed him as our 2nd choice keeper.

Rumours are picking up that Arthur Okonkwo is close to signing for us permanently.

Fingers crossed this is true. He was a huge part of our success last year.

Strange signing Coleman came in and did ok when Baxter was injured . Evatt plays without a keeper on the bench.
Obviously he thinks Baxter wont play all season.

Nothing against Coleman, seems a nice guy - but I personally think we need better as back up.

Based on the comments I’ve seen this evening from fans at previous clubs etc, seems we’ve got that.

Coleman was single-handedly the worst keeper I've seen at SJP in a long time.. And I watched Gary Woods last season.

Bag of nerves in some games he played but we never missed out on promotion because of him

I'm surprised Southwood has gone as a number 2 given he turned down Championship offers last season to sit on the bench - unless he thinks he can displace Baxter.

He's a solid League 1 keeper is Luke. Good shot-stopper, can be good on crosses but has a tendency to stay on his line and is great with the ball at his feet. His penalty save record is outstanding - I think 4 from 7 last season. His only two issues are his stature - he struggles to command his area and it's mainly because he's a small keeper - and the amount of goals he concedes from 18-25 yards. Shots from this distance always seem to be just out of his reach, it's really a sight to see.

But he's an absolute top drawer bloke though - after the final game of the 22/23 season a lot of fans hung around after and he came out of the player's exit to walk to his car. He stopped for photos and a chat with every single one of them. My son was the last one and I apologised because we must have held him up for about 20 mins, and he said he was delighted to do it. I love the guy and wish him all the best going forward.

Insane signing if true, I thought he'd go to a Championship club and be the number 1 there.

We won't do better than that this summer, possibly the best signing since Mullin (if true).

No signings for us so far but apparently these are rumoured to be gas players soon;

GK - Cameron Dawson (Sheff Wed) free
CB - Taylor Moore (unattached) free
CB - Dan Ellison (Chippenham) Fee
AM - Isaac Hutchinson (Walsall) Fee

ive only heard of one of them, but I guess the ones I have heard of have all signed for Rotherham...

Dawson would be a great signing, top ‘keeper and knows Taylor well of course.

Taylor Moore has good pedigree too, would be a decent signing for sure.

In all honesty I can't see Adebisi going to Orient as you'll have to pay a 6 figure compensation fee for his services and, given he's been with us for years, the compensation fee I reckon we would command would be just in excess of your club record transfer fee paid.

Hutchinson is a tall, languid type attacking midfielder. Good passer, decent set plays and he did really well for Walsall.

There was an invisible glass wall on the goal when he played for Crawley. He wouldn't score for some of the most bizarre reasons.

Decent player.

I've never seen him have a good game for Wrexham or Crewe, obviously picked the wrong games.

I've never seen a goalkeeper as poor as communicating to his defence as when he played at EP for Crewe in 22/23. I suppose that is something he'll learn.

You must have. Both Wrexham and Crewe fans speak highly of him for a reason. He has had patchy games and made mistakes but he's only 22 so that's to be expected.

Never had a good game against us for you or Crewe. Saw him in the cup when you played Blackburn and he was awful. I just never catch him on a good day, evidently. The people who watch him week in week out know best.

He only played against you lot once last season (the 2-1 at the Racecourse) and I can't remember him having a particularly poor game?

He was poor against Blackburn. At the time he was suffering from the effects of fracturing his jaw and had a couple of poor games when he was wearing a mask. Seemed to lose his confidence a bit - In hindsight he'd probably come back too soon.

You don't have to rate him though, it's fine.

That’s a great signing for Wrexham, we’d have won the game by half time at Field Mill if it wasn’t for him.

Bet they had to offer a massive contract to get him to sign.

Apparently he's the biggest earner at the club now.

Makes Mullins 25k a week look paltry.

Stop coming out with shite about money................Some teams here have more loose change than your owners
What you pay Mullins is up to your owners and Mullins agent...............Your team up until today wont finish top half.................you need major improvements

They'll bring quality players in, Wrexham could go toe to toe with every team in this league bar Birmingham and perhaps Huddersfield (in re: to spending)

Top half call is a wide shout considering Stevenage and Leyton Orient did last season after L2 promotions the seasons before. Northampton weren't far away either. And none of those three will have been as aggressive in the transfer market as Wrexham will be.
