£750k bid agreed for Alfie May with Huddersfield. Sounds like we're planning to use it to bring in Ahadme. Still think it's bonkers to let him go given he is guaranteed to score goals. Would expect us to try and bring in Ahadme and another but seems like a huge gamble.
Ahadme did well with us last season, a side which struggled to create anything for many games and he was out for a fair chunk of it too. He did well to score as many as he did.
Good luck with him was awful when with us.
We had Hepburn-Murphy pre covid, he’s likely a completely different player now and may have improved a lot since he was with us.

Lorent Tolaj has signed for Port Vale. All a bit here say or rumours, but I think that's maybe the 3rd or 4th signing that has turned us down for League 2 so far. Feeling a bit like Crawley.
I think it’s a good thing you’ve missed out on him. He looked way out of his depth with us.

Anyone else signing our ex players? Seems to be loads of them littered through leagues 1 and 2 at the moment.

Heard that we're finally set to sign Fiorini tomorrow (that was a long medical). Also Sam Hughes from Burton.

Mumurs that we're signing a couple early part of next week (pre-season starts on Monday with the players in yesterday for testing), one of which is Danish.

Cheltenham media has strongly linked us to their striker Rob Street today. Looks like he's a work rate kinda striker rather than a goal scorer, which suggests to me he'll probably be understudy to Ben House but play along side him when Walker isn't available (House can actually score goals but didn't play as a main striker last season).

EDIT - House and Street up front would be full of puns. Back in the day we had Kevin Sandwith, Paul Mayo and Danny Bacon.
Bid accepted for Street.

Is that a signing every day for seven days!? Seems like some good business completed.
Yes I believe so, drip feeding the signings to us. We lost a lot of players so were expecting a lot of business. They seem pretty decent but will judge when I see them play.

Had a 6 figure bid for Joel Randall rejected from P’boro.

We’re going in with an improved bid so we must fancy our chances of getting it over the line.

I was concerned we were being handicapped by our deadwood for another season but fair play to Garry Monk by sticking them all on the transfer list.

Lankester has gone to Crewe, Adam May is off to Forest Green who sadly isn’t the same player since he done his ACL and Lewis Simper has joined Sutton United.

That will have certainly helped clear the way for some new and improved players to come in.

We would win on location but if it comes down to wages as it normally does then doubt we can compete with Birmingham.
Similar story for us really. I would obviously like to keep May but if he wanted to move for family reasons, I'd understand it. Birmingham isn't that so it's a bit frustrating as our owners keep barking on about ambition but we have no chance of matching their wages.

We've signed young midfielder JJ McKiernan from Morecambe on a four-year deal. Out of contract there and we can't agree a compensation fee so it's going to tribunal as it stands, which seems bizarre given that he's only been at Morecambe for one season having been at Watford prior to that.

Football Insider has linked us to Omari Patrick, a winger who was recently at relegated Sutton. Seems to have a decent-ish record from his time at Carlisle but hope this is a squad depth signing if it happens.

He's a good player. We had him in non-league for a spell before covid and had something about him. We nicked him from Bradford where he felt he fell out of love of football. We brought it back then played for Carlisle and Burton, before moving to Sutton.

So what you are saying is that he only moves to glamorous places.

We’ve signed Shayne Lavery following his release from Blackpool.

Looks a good signing on paper. Not prolific for a striker but we are the perfect club for players who need to come in with something to prove to kick on and get a move.

We've done it for Mullin, Smith, Ahadme and Ironside (although dropped down a league but Macclesfield told us he was dog shit) but earned himself a 3 year deal at Donny.

Domonic Ball rumoured to be having a medical. I would be happy with this one.

Clearing out the deadwood and bringing much better calibres of players in to replace them. Solid start to our business so far.

Jordan Rossiter leaving the Gas after refusing the contract offered. Be a good pick up for someone. Scouser so probably end up at Tranmere!

Exactly the type of player we need in our midfield to do the dirty work. You're making some decent signings especially Lavery if you can get him going.

Ryan Woods has had his contract at Hull mutually terminated, so expect him to rock up at a L1 club soon.

I know he didn’t set the world alight at Rovers, but he was class for us, so keeping everything crossed he comes back here. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up at a Burton or somewhere instead.

As long as he don't rock up back here.

Alfie May to Birmingham on a 3 year deal sounds like it is done. Thought he was a better fit at Huddersfield but sure he will still get goals at Brum. Bonkers wages by the sounds of it for a player unproven above league one but guess this will be the Birmingham way

Also hearing we're trying to get Gassan Ahadme back on a permanent.
We were getting quoted £1m for him apparently - without trying to be disrespectful (as we also can't afford it without selling our best player) but can you afford it?

I am very much expecting that May has only gone because we have another striker guaranteed to come in. Most were expecting that to be Ahadme so this throws a spanner in the works as you sniffing around would definitely mean that's not tied up. We've also been linked less loosely to Godden and Etete

Think it’s best to leave them to it, a few reliable itk posters for us are saying Birmingham blew us out the water in terms of wages offered , as they will do everyone in league one. Do need a striker but midfield still a bigger priority right now

This Brum move will probably make Alfie May a millionaire, guy was kicking about at a team called Hythe 6-7 years ago.

Yeah can't begrudge it, will probably be double what we were paying plus factor in how expensive it is to live in/near London. Just a shame we've gift wrapped the league's top scorer to another team in the league

He probably knew it was last chance saloon with you guys. Was great for us in his first couple of games and then from there he turned into what looked like a competition winner
