That's even more weird than the Mullarkey signing. Gav was terrific in our NL promotion season and gave us some of the best moments of the last 20 years then and the following season but he looked done at L2 level last season and I thought he was nailed on to turn up at one of York, Halifax or Hartlepool. Fair play to him getting a L1 club but I can't get my head around that at all!
Aye, he’s a cult hero and a true pro but technically he’s woeful. However, we said all this about Crawley’s signings last year and for once, I agree with Stocky - Lindsey surprised everyone last season and if he manages to keep Crawley up this year, he’s got manager of the season sewn up.

Set to sign Jack Baldwin the centre half by the sounds of it.

Mullarkey isn't a low end L2 player if he's played in the correct position. He's more than comfortable as the right sided CB in a three at that level.
National League with Altrincham. Joined Rochale who were relegated from L2. Joined you and faced a relegation battle. He is a low end L2 player, lets hope he can improve.

Yep, he was in poor Rochdale and Grimsby teams you're correct about that. That doesn't mean you're incorrect here though. Not saying he's a world beater or anything but he certainly isn't a bottom end L2 player...I've seen plenty of them in my time too so I should know!

Joe Piggott in advanced talks to sign for AFC Wimbledon again on loan from ourselves.

It hasn't worked for him here, he can't play the lone striker role in a Wellens team as he doesn't have the mobility or speed. He did manage 5 goals though.

Would like to think this will free up space for another attacking player or a decent left back/keeper/2x central midfielders which we need.

Jack Baldwin signed up for an undisclosed fee from Ross County. We have done pretty well picking up signings from Scottish teams in recent years. Good experience and was their captain so hopefully a good addition.

You paid a fee for him? He must have improved as he was useless for us . Mind you I think he scored against your lot once.

Sadly we did, imagine its fairly nominal knowing us but a fee was paid it seems. Why was he so bad for you lot? Reports from up north seem to suggest he is whole hearted but lacks pace to say the least.

I'm starting to feel more confident about actually winning the first game of the season now...at last!

Theo Archibald has signed a new one year deal with us, he won't be able to play until the second half of the season due to the nasty knee injury he picked up in February.

One of our youth keepers Noah Phillips has also signed a one year deal, being promoted from our youth team.

Definitely whole hearted and I think he suited playing in Scotland....slow, poor concentration, dives into tackles giving away stupid fouls and poor passer....he was poor for us and only slightly better for Ross County

But other than pretty good?

Dosnt bode well but then again some players just suit certain systems etc (im clinging to this).

He was signed to play alongside Max Ehmer who came with rave reviews. Ehmer was a waste of space leaving Baldwin paired with an inexperienced Harris. Don't think Baldwin could take the pressure and didn't perform. If he's paired with the right CB you might be OK!

even though our defence has been shit for a while, that CB pairing still makes me shudder

Tom O Connor has signed a new 3 year deal to keep him at the club till the end of June 2027, which is absolutely fantastic news.

Holohan must have an agent equivalent to OJ Simpson’s lawyer to get him a move to League 1 I expected him to end up back in the National League.
Great bloke though and hope he does well.

Millwall being linked with a £500k move for Lukas Jensen. Like Sorenson, it's stick or twist time because he's also only got a year left on his deal. I think we'd be tempted to start negotiating at that sort of money but the flip side is he was statistically the best GK in L1 last season and with 19 clean sheets as well albeit we've had some excellent, now Championship playing, 'keepers since we've been in L1 so that's a position you'd be comfortable with us finding a half decent replacement in.

In other news, Lewis Montsma has signed a six-month deal to prove his fitness. He hasn't played since February 2023 due to an ACL (third in his career, second time with us).

Thought Archibald was one of the best players I saw last season, good signing if he plays like that(the game at abtopia) that is, saying that we couldn’t perform much worse than we did against you last season, we was appalling both games.

Don't know if Magennis will start but definitely gives us options with Cox, Alli and Bird.
Rumours that Cardiff are interested in Alli, which is odd as he's only been with us 5 minutes
Milli Alli looks to be one we let go when we shouldn't as we only released him in 2022 and he signed to Halifax

Yes, went off injured after a few minutes.
To be fair, he wasn't 'injured' he go a cut on his brow which they chose not to risk so brought him off. He was warming up with the 2nd half squad at half time, so not fair to say he was injured

Seems we have switched our attention from Joel Randall to Danny Armstrong at Kilmarnock. Winger + wing back, had a combined 45 goals/assists in the last two seasons.

They want to keep him ahead for the new season + Europa League but he’s also down to the last year of his contract, so we’re hoping to pick him up for around the half-mil mark.

Wagmi say we have funds to spend on players but no clue as to what standard of players we are looking at
Well, it appears we're raiding Grimsby. It worked last season so give it another go..

I know they think Hoolahan is finished which worries me but when the say Mullarkey is best on the right side of a 3 that gives hope as we don't play with full backs or wing backs. Only problem is we now have 4 players who play there but no keeper.

Had a look on his highlights [you tube] All left foot playing on the right. Most of his goals are penalties.
Looks like a poor mans Dapo

Hope he is better at football than a comedian his jokes are from the 70s. Roughly the last time Wrexham graced league1
