Stockport County.
It wont take long, the guy is a complete liability
Don't see us signing him tbh. Don't think we need another midfielder. Think he knows our assistant from his days at Fleetwood so imagine he's training with us and extensions to that are playing in the early friendlies.

Can't remember the last time we signed a trialist tbh.

2004-5 actually. You know, back when Bolton were good and not a lower league basket case.
Yep spending money we never had.....We was a basket case for two seasons 5/6 years back
Laurel and Hardie can never buy our History

Why do you feel the need to put down other clubs? Bolton are a relatively big club at this level, you don't need to slag off everyone else. it's just weird.

There are rumours on our forum we are signing GK Josh Griffiths on loan from WBA. He has been on loan at Cheltenham, Lincoln and Portsmouth previously..and views lads?
Been three years since he was here now but he started quite nervously and ended up as a decent loan GK. Nowhere near as dominant as he should be for someone his size (he's 6'5"ish), so you'll need fairly dominant CB's to cover that. Decent shot stopper, average distribution.

Probably the weakest GK we've had in L1 but the standard is pretty high tbf.

Not slagging Wrexham in any way.........This started as a off the cuff remark about Tom O conner
You replied by calling Bolton a basket case
Lighten up I am sure you will get a lot worse here in the coming season

Well you said we haven't been at this level since the 70s.

It's just non stop punching down from you as far as I can tell. It's a bit sad.

if you see my prediction for the coming season i have you down to get into the play-offs
Denzil jumped on the bandwagon because i had them to be relegated last season, but i had the grace to hold my hands up

Enjoy the banter as long as it does not get personal, life is too short

RB? Is he comfortable at centre back too?
Right back yes. Not comfortable at centre back. Had a bad injury and that knocked him back. Can be exposed for pace but he is solid, dependable and assured. Overall a good player in a bad team.

We had Keenon Forson on trial tonight. A midfielder released by West Ham.

Looked solid enough, but nothing more than that. Maybe worth another look.

Well, it appears we're raiding Grimsby. It worked last season so give it another go..

I know they think Hoolahan is finished which worries me but when the say Mullarkey is best on the right side of a 3 that gives hope as we don't play with full backs or wing backs. Only problem is we now have 4 players who play there but no keeper.

Casey
ITK on the Fishy also reckons you are about to sign Donovan Wilson from us who you tried to get in jan.

Decent finisher but isn’t in the game that much.

Signing 3 players from the team that finished 4th bottom of the league below you really isn’t a good look

We had 3 trialists tonight, one was left back Matt Penney who hasn't had a club for a year since he was on loan at Charlton and one was Louie Watson who was on loan at Charlton from Luton last season. No idea on our third one who was a right back.

Joe Piggott in advanced talks to sign for AFC Wimbledon again on loan from ourselves.

It hasn't worked for him here, he can't play the lone striker role in a Wellens team as he doesn't have the mobility or speed. He did manage 5 goals though.

Would like to think this will free up space for another attacking player or a decent left back/keeper/2x central midfielders which we need.

No sign of Piggott at tonights friendly and Wellens didn't say he was injured.

Wellens said we're looking to sign a GK, RB, LB and 2x CMs.

Watson had a couple of decent outings for us in the championship. Neat and tidy sort of midfield player, not flash but decent technically, kept things ticking as a kind deep playmaker. Very lightweight though and didn’t seem to kick on at Charlton last year at all

Donovan Wilson to Crawley rumours have resurfaced and the flames have been fanned due to him not being involved last night on our friendly against Grimsby Borough. Was very close to happening last January, but I think we missed out on a target late preventing it from going forward. Would be disappointed to see him go as I think there's a good player in there and with better service he could bang a fair few in in L2.

I’m sure Wilson has potential to score a few in L2 (he looked ok ish when we had him on loan a while back) but if he’s the sort of forward Crawley are going for, they’ll be down by February.

His last stats are no better (well they are actually worse) than our current no1 Jed Ward so seems a strange signing. WBA seem to rate him highly though so we will see.

Joseph Hungbo arrives on loan from FC Nurnberg as the 11th signing of the season and joins up with the squad in Scotland.

Former Palace, Watford but failed to progress before having a good spell on loan at Ross County.

Scored 3 times in 14 appearances on loan at Huddersfield in 22-23 helping them stay up that year.

Apparently a very quick winger or wing back we finally have a replacement for Cheo Ogbene, if he is half as good and he'll be useful.

Millwall being linked with a £500k move for Lukas Jensen. Like Sorenson, it's stick or twist time because he's also only got a year left on his deal. I think we'd be tempted to start negotiating at that sort of money but the flip side is he was statistically the best GK in L1 last season and with 19 clean sheets as well albeit we've had some excellent, now Championship playing, 'keepers since we've been in L1 so that's a position you'd be comfortable with us finding a half decent replacement in.

In other news, Lewis Montsma has signed a six-month deal to prove his fitness. He hasn't played since February 2023 due to an ACL (third in his career, second time with us).
Jensen has flown back from our training camp in Spain to discuss personal terms so this one looks like it's moving closer.

Matt Penney is the worst player I’ve ever seen and there’s no close second. He must have taken a massive confidence hit from his injury before joining us but he looked like he could barely kick a ball and he didn’t last long in the team despite us having no LB replacement. Unless he’s worked on himself a lot over the last year he’s very far off being a League One player.

Louie Watson is a bit more promising, I always thought he played well for us but ended up getting dropped from the team as neither Appleton or Jones really liked him.

When you’ve been in this board a while you’ll understand why ! Friendly running banter. when Bolton win a couple they turn into the worlds best club side.
