We now have 2 fit CBs and 3 forwards who have scored 1 goal between them so far. Gonna be a very long few months up to January.

Our captain Lavelle signs for Charlton right at the end, after being linked with a move away all Summer. Gutted it's finally happened but he's deserved a move to a bigger club for a while.

My concern now is that we don't really have any ball playing centre back's similar to Sam. That could cause a problem in the future.

It would had been a loan deal for Ellis Harrison but he wanted to stay at Portsmouth.

Our move for Morgan Whittaker from Swansea fell through because they needed Grimes out and Fosu in for it to work.

Whittaker was at our training ground all night waiting to sign the papers. Leaves us very short in wide areas unfortunately so it's gonna be a tough four months to January unless we can make a move or two in the free agent market. We desperately needed at least one who could run with the ball and move us up the pitch.

A mixed transfer window for us. Made money but probably a weaker squad, albeit those two aren't linked. We were spoilt with Johnson, Rogers and Palmer loan moves last season so they were always going to be nigh on impossible to replace for us. Managed to shed a couple of players who were that far down the pecking order they perhaps wouldn't even be classed as fringe players. Decent fee for Edun, replaced him for far less money and Eyoma back on a permanent is excellent business.

A little surprised we didn't sign any back up players at center half or up front but we have to trust Bonner and hope we don't get any significant injuries between now and January. It seems a lot of clubs are light in many areas compared to seasons gone by.

Same for us tbh, Appleton has spoken to the press about how many League One clubs are paying “shocking” amounts of money out this season. He thinks around half of the league are gambling on getting promoted by paying well over the odds and risking huge financial pressure.

I think because of the money involved at our level, a lot of the remaining clubs are now running with a leaner squad and hoping they can get by until January to reassess the situation again.

To be fair to Bonner he did the same last season which would have been down to money but he also likes to keep a tight knit squad to ensure everyone feels a part of it and the morale good for those not always involved.

The worry is any injuries or covid outbreaks and it could be disastrous. Throwing money about is no given for success. Salford have been trying for a couple of seasons and it hasn't happened for them. I think Ipswich could have the same issue this season but only time will tell.

Hello Masi, did you enjoy the game Saturday? I seemed to have missed your take on the game over the weekend.

Leko and Lavelle in at the death.

Happy with both.

We sent Curtis Tilt back out to Wigan on loan, why we didn't just sell him I've no idea as he clearly doesn't get on with Warne
Unless it's a cunning plan to dent Wigan's promotion prospects it makes no sense, particularly with MacDonalds continuing abscence.

We brought in Will Grigg on loan, hopefully we get the MK Dons/Wigan version rather than the Sunderland one.
We now have 4 forwards capable of playing in league 1, Smith, Ladapo, Grigg and a youthful back up in Kayode.

Main thing was we hung on to Michael Smith, Wes Harding and Dan Barlaser.
Although Dan hasn't played too much so far, he will be crucial for us as the season progresses.

We've had a good window, all the players that have come in look decent, Fergusson, Odoffin, Edmunds Green and Grigg.
Bola we've not seen yet but maybe we will at the Keepmoat next week in the Papa Johns trophy.

Pick of the lot though is Ollie Rathbone, he will move on to higher things and earn us (and Rochdale) big money sometime in the future.

Happy with our transfer window. One big sale (Rob Atkinson) but strengthened the squad and kept the other players. We lack cover at left back so the young players will have to step up if necessary.

4 signings for us, which looks on paper strong. With strikers returning, and jebberson hopefully firing, it should cure our finishing problem.

Genuinely think a tighter version of the current salary cap is coming in soon and the clubs know it. Not as draconian as last seasons which got scrapped, but there's only one explanation for daft spending coming out of a pandemic and it's more than likely it's that.

It's also why there's currently a massive arms race in the National League as well.

Squeaky bum time for Owen Dale. Seems all indications are that his move to Blackpool has gone through but just waiting for the FL to confirm. If we get £500k for him we are absolutely laughing. Honestly don’t think he’s kicked on like he could have done. Good L1 player, doesn’t strike me as someone who would stand out in the Champ. I prefer an in form Ainley (he’s anything but in form at the moment tho).

If the deal doesn’t go through… lonely few months for Dale.

Looks like Blackpool are waiting on EFL confirmation that they've signed Owen Dale.
Edit - beaten to it. Can't work out how to delete my post on mobile...

I do think Dale is a player of enormous potential but that's what they're buying him on - 6 decent months in League One and his potential. I'm not convinced he's good enough for the Championship at this stage and do think his development would be better served with another year at this level. He might prove me wrong but I think he might find the Championship a bit difficult.

Think the player we're hoping to sign at the end of the week might be Madger Gomes - formerly of Doncaster. Don't know much about him.

I hope for our sake he goes and rips it up and we get a fee in January (unless that aspect is actually agreed/assured already?).

Just need some sort of official news on Lowery, Macdonald and (?) Long. Then we can all get on with life.

Dale to Blackpool confirmed - loan until January with a view to a permanent move.

Missed a trick not forcing them to buy him. If he's disappointing it's going to be interesting considering he can only play for 2 clubs this season as per FIFA rules. Which means if he's dreadful there and he clearly doesn't want to play for us again, everyone loses. None more so than Owen Dale himself.

I’m hoping the loan is due to time running out last night and the deal is Blackpool pay up in January with no back tracking allowed.

We were signing Grigg but chuffed about for weeks so lost out to Rotherham then left it too late to sign anyone else absolute shambles of a window leaving us without a striker

Not sure what the rules are.

Middlesbrough paid a £1m up front to loan Sean St Ledger ages ago with a view to a permanent, he didn't want to sign there so he came back, so technically they paid £1m to loan a guy for 6 months.

I think it's all a gentleman's agreement sort of thing and you're dealing with Blackpool so that means nothing.

Definitely said option to buy in January on our clubs website, not an obligation to buy. It'll be very awkward should it go tits up for the player.

We have had 10 in and 11 out. That's a big turnover considering 8 of those leaving were 1st team or fringe 1st team. I don't think we are really worse or better off than last season, just different players. Our attack is better, midfield probably worse and defence OK.

The big difference will be how the coach plays us. Martin had his way and it was inviolate. No change despite who we played. I hope Manning will be more pragmatic without losing the free flowing football we can play.

Playoffs for us hopefully but there are a lot of clubs who will feel the same considering the number of clubs going to be fighting it out for the autos.

An article on Owen Dale that I think is excellent. Must say, I'm surprised about the chance creation stat, as it's not something that stood out for me watching him. However, a stat is a stat and you can't argue with that.

Pretty short-sighted of Harrison as he's well down the pecking order here. The knock-on effect is that we couldn't bring in another striker and Argyle are a striker short.

There's no doubt that the Cowleys wanted to sell Curtis, Jacobs and Harrison this window and reinvest the money, but were ultimately unsuccessful. They now only really have half the team they wanted so I'm expecting results to be up and down until the January window.
