Any good?
For me, and I think it was a generally accepted view amongst the majority of Lincoln fans, he isn't quite a L1 defender. He'll not be really out of his depth or anything, will never let anyone down, great attitude, good height and physique, will want to defend but he got bullied at times here and his positional sense isn't perfect.

He came here as a LB but wanted to play CB so it'll be interesting to see where he ends up. Only 23 as well so plenty of time to improve. Hope he does well, as will everyone else I think.

Players report back for training on Monday. No welcome packs required as we have no new faces.

Expect low-scoring five-a-side games as we currently have no strikers. Although we do only have one keeper so that may affect things a bit.

We knew from way back what division we'd be playing in next season, being firmly ensconced in mid-table. Surely that would mean that we'd start planning signings earlier than a lot of clubs? Seemingly not. Here's hoping for a sudden influx of quality players.

Davis is ok but nothing special. Will get stuck in (hence why he’s always injured) but you’ll see mostly sideways and backwards passes from the lad, seems too scared to attack or play a direct ball into an attacking area the majority of times. Thought he’d end up in League 2 so I’m surprised you boys have signed him after promotion. He’s not shit but don’t expect much is what I’m saying.

Cheers for the info. We’ve got a few more creative players so someone who breaks things up and keeps it simple should work I reckon.

Always injured is what some St Mirren fans are saying about our other signing McAllister too, so seems we’ve decided to take a risk in the hope we can keep these lads fit and get a decent amount of games out of them.

Been very slow in term of news or rumours for us. Vale have become very good at keeping things in house nowadays which is a good thing but it can be frustrating waiting.

Only things and these are pinch of salt type things is one of those rumours pages on Twitter saying it is us or Mansfield for Dom Telford. Hopefully if there is anything in that it doesn't end up like the Nicky Maynard saga a couple of years ago that dragged on for ages and ultimately both clubs lost out in different ways. Other one there's a couple of posts on Twitter indicating James Gibbons might have rejected a contract with us and Stoke mentioned as an option. Would be some very mixed feelings on that if it were to happen. Obviously couldn't begrudge a move higher up to a bigger club but when it comes to THEM it would make it a lot more difficult.

Sjoke are after a lad from Hibs in his position aren’t they? Have to see, can’t begrudge him his move and would probably play comfortably at that level, it’s just his injuries which is why I wouldn’t want us to be silly wage wise as he has spent the best part of two seasons injured.

He was outstanding in the play offs but have to see, I’d be sad to lose him but no hard feelings if up the ladder.

Telford I’m unsure on, he’s had a good 6 months, then scored 1 in the latter months I think so again was it good form rather than guaranteed goals you’d get?

That said a fox in the box type striker is something we need as Wilson isn’t out and out striker wise and Proctor if he stays is more target man.

Benning is the other one we’ve yet to hear on, oddly apparently the club tweeted about a new deal before deleting it just after the final so maybe we are not announcing things for some reason (maybe holding off ahead of the season ticket early bird deadline).

Sounds like Darling is off to Swansea. A shame it’s them but us selling players is the whole point of the business model. To get over a million when he’s probably got a year left on his contract is good business and his replacement is already in the door.

Any idea on the fee? I believe we’ve got 20% sell on for Darling.

I was told weeks ago the deal was done for £1m+ but was hoping it would be more.

Edit - someone on our message board seems to think we have a 30% sell on.

Not a clue, but £1.5m is the suggestion from their side.

Nice bit of extra funds for us then which will hopefully be put into the playing budget.

Someone’s said that we’re only getting £400k to start with and the rest in a payment plan, though I don’t know how true it is.

It’s confirmed now anyway. I’m disappointed he’s gone obviously but I’m not going to wet the bed like some fans. Ever since we lost Andy Cullen to Portsmouth we’ve shifted to a Brentford style system of developing and selling on players when we can. We’ve already replaced him in a player Championship clubs wanted and now we have the leeway to improve the squad further.

I definitely want to use the Swansea money to get Watters from Cardiff though, that will make me laugh.

You'll be used to that with Cowley now! Not really one for early transfer moves, I can only think of 5 early moves here.

We're continuing to get rid of and sign more backroom staff than players.

Brought in guy from Forest for the medical side, we're having a complete rebuild amongst our coaching and medical departments, the Board obviously not happy with them after last season.

That’s nearly always the case. No club (aside from the Prem and those with Parachute Payments) has those sort of readies kicking about For even that size of deal.

I’ve heard it’s definitely 20% sell on to Cambridge, and that’s also based on the profit on the deal, not the whole deal. Obviously not too much difference in this case as I think we didn’t pay much more than £100K, but it’s a point worth noting.

Yeah I know that’s normally the case, but thought it worth mentioning so the Cambridge fans know not to expect a massive pay out this window.

We got a 1.8 million sell on for Jordan Hugill and that was in 3 instalments every January for instance. Signed a new Tesla for the chairman at the time mind.

I’ve been told by a reliable source this morning it’s definitely 30% sell on.

Also we sold him for much more than 100k.

Possibility that our first signing of the season could be Ben Purrington.

Barkhuizen to Bolton back on apparently. Hoping to be done alongside Connor Bradley early this week before the side head out to Portugal.

We'll probably never know the full details unless your club spill the beans. Our lot are notoriously tight lipped about actual money facts to do with players.

From our official release - MK Dons can confirm the departure of Harry Darling to Swansea City for an undisclosed fee.

Highlited bit a very common denominator in our player deal news releases. It's quite frustrating at times because 1.5m isn't a lot for how good he is but speculation about release clauses, having our pants pulled down by Swansea etc. etc. It's all guesswork.

The original fee was around £300k. Another £240k-£450k in estimated/reported sell on bonuses and it makes it a very very good bit of business for us considering he only had six months on his contract when he left

We are set to sign Matt Butcher from Accrington Stanley.
We've been linked with him for quite a while, but probably only because he's a local lad who Cowley once said was a good player. Solid performer at this level.

I called Barky joining you when we released him.

Interested to see what his fitness is like. He has really bad asthma and never really seemed to recover from Covid. It all seemed very hush hush when he was missing this season.

He's crap at wing back so unless you plan to use him up front, he probably won't be a good addition. He's an out & out winger but I know you guys play a strict 3-5-2.

If he wasn't rapid then I doubt he'd have had a professional career to be honest. Was a good, steady player for us but no place for him in our current system.

Dont think Evatt was after him as a wing back.....Way too many wingers in our squad as it is
Hopefully Derby get something sorted out this week and he fucks off there
