Pleased with the Virtue signing, feedback is that he's a comfortably good enough for L1 but not quite Championship level, although I'm not sure whether I'm pleased because it's him or that it's a body in an area we desperately needed.

Maguire leaving isn't a surprise and that had to be the shortest statement we've ever done on a departing player - "Lincoln City FC can confirm that midfielder Chris Maguire has left the club by mutual consent."

codaplenty Any thoughts on Dan Butterworth at all as see he was on loan at Fleetwood last season?

Got to think that is probably it for us now this evening. At least I can be confident with the current setup we won't go and do a 23:00 announcement of signing Danny Pugh or someone like that as happened last time we were in this league.
Rumour Chesterfield are after Procs on loan so may leave space for one more?

Camara didn’t want to sign a new deal so the club transfer listed him. He hasn’t played at all this season, supposedly injured but I think we has frozen out considering he’s miraculously fit now.

Jephcott is a poacher, fox in the box type. Doesn’t suit our new system at all, tried playing as a 10 but didn’t work out. He’ll score goals in the right system. I guess Schumacher would rather have a target man and let Jephcott go.

Still out with a groin injury, apparently.

Unusual to see a loan player move up a division. I have no idea if he’s any good though, guessing he’s more of a target man type at that height so obviously pure scoring is not the only thing that you judge a player like that on.
I can only assume he isn't fitting in with Wellens tactics at Orient, he hasn't been playing regularly.
We aren't a hoof it up team but maybe he's there as an impact sub or cover for Nombe.
Will be interesting to see how we line up on Saturday.
Still think we are two players short

Nah I think that's bollocks to be honest. The guy is out at the moment with a dodgy hip and the club said they had no indication of when he'd return. Suppose with Chezzy with them being in the conference they wouldn't have to do any deal today as the window doesn't apply to that league though I can't imagine him being too keen to drop to there.

Loaned Elliott Thorpe and Admiral Muskwe to Burton and Fleetwood respectively.

Thorpe a midfield player we signed on a free from Spurs. What you’d expect from a Premier League academy prospect, technically looks really good and assured got a good delivery on him and does set pieces well. Not played much but has played more as a RWB for us through necessity at times where he’s shown he’s got a wicked cross in his locker.

Muskwe is a striker and had plenty of opportunities off the bench and a few starts, even one this season but has failed to make any impression really and hasn’t looked like scoring. Often looks quite lost out there as if he doesn’t know where to be. Is an athlete though so he’s got his uses. He’ll be linking up with Mendes Gomes there so interesting to see if they can form some sort of partnership

To be honest I’d have liked to see us sign a target man impact sub - we lost Akinfenwa to retirement but he was superb to bring on for a bit of late harassment of opposition defenders, he couldn’t handle 90 mins in his final season but was awesome for a late cameo. I don’t care who you are but Akinfenwa (and decent target men in general) have got to be an absolute bitch to mark from set pieces etc.

Muskwe was decent on loan for us, I’d have had him back. Maybe the championship is a stretch too far but I’d say he’s a decent signing at this level.

We’ve signed Carl Winchester on loan from Sunderland.

Sunderland fans seem to rate him which is always a good sign. What’s he like FGR fans? Looks like he’ll be playing his debut against his former club this weekend.

Liam McCarron signs on loan from Stoke (rarity!).

Yeah had the odd flash but not much more than that, technically i dont think hes great but like i say hes an athlete which means he is useful for certain games, personally thought we would keep him around for the bench and the odd start here and there for that reason. Hes not tactically that smart and often doesnt know when to press and when to not at times i find. Im sounding quite negative about him here but with a run of games i could see him coming good, hes on the fringes here so a bit in and out so cant get any rhythm.

Yeah, he’s at an age (24) where I think he really needs to establish himself as a regular starting choice, otherwise he may end up dropping down another level.

He looked good in flashes for us too, there is talent there but any player needs to produce the quality consistently to get guaranteed starts. Anyway, like I say he could come good for Fleetwood if handled right.

We’ve just announced Bryan Fiabema, 19 year old Norwegian striker on a season loan from Chelsea. Got 2 goals and 2 assists on loan at Rosenborg last season, which isn’t great but he is pretty highly rated apparently. We could certainly do with more of a goal threat.

Signing this Stoke lad on loan could be a little more polarising than it was with Forrester. At least in his case it was a permanent deal, in this instance we are helping develop one of their players.

More importantly I’m struggling to piece it together. We already have a shitload of LWB’s and unless we are transitioning to a 3-4-3 and playing with wingers it seems a bit surplus to requirements. Not to mention we have a lot of loanees now, not all of them can make a matchday squad. Know absolutely nothing about him as a player so guess we’ll see what DC has in mind.

Teams at this level have to take a punt on that kind of signing.

I’ve only watched one game in the Norwegian top tier (it actually was Rosenborg, though several seasons back) but I’d say it was slightly better than L1 level, plus you’d think he can’t be that bad to even get in the door at Chelsea, though I know they have the philosophy of signing tons of players and loaning out tons on spec.

Anyway, hopefully a young guy keen to prove himself.

He was the central midfield fulcrum for us in L2, one of the first on the teamsheet and we were sorry to see him go. I remember him as very comfortable on the ball, a good passer but not quick or a ball winner. I think Sunderland played him elsewhere though, as did Cheltenham before us.

Right, that’s the window shut. If we’ve got through the summer without losing Smith, Ironside, Mitov or any of the other fine gentlemen in our squad then I think we can only judge that to be a successful window.

So we’ve just loaned Josh Coley to Harrogate, after giving him a new deal. Odd.

And now we’ve sold young CB Alfie Pond to Wolves for £500k plus add ons. Not bad for a player who’s yet to play in the league.

Surely we’ll see another signing

As well as landing Koroma on loan we've loaned out CB Haji Mnoga to the Gills.

And that's a wrap on an excellent transfer window.

He seems decent but as said it’s not really our system, unless he comes in as LWB and Small is injured?

Have to see, as it stands we have Willo back so then two with two back up strikers who are young loans (plus potentially Proctor) and attacking option in Politic as well so we look far more stocked up front for the first time this season and have options.

We know what we are getting with Dennis at least.

Ended the window by signing William Osula from Sheff Utd. A bit of a wild card signing, unproven striker with a good record at academy level but could really go either way. A couple others on loan for our U21s too as they look to patch themselves up.

I'm happy with what we've managed to do under strict restrictions, i.e. no transfer fees, loan fees or agent fees. We've kept the best of our academy in Sibley, Bird, Knight & Cashin. We've added players who have started contributing immediately in Hourihane, Wildsmith, Mendez-Laing, Barkhuizen, Dobbin and others.

All things considered, we've had a good start to the season and all credit to the people in charge who have orchestrated it. The last few weeks of the window haven't been kind and it looks like we've missed out on plenty of players, you could still argue that our squad is still lacking depth. We've already seen a number of injuries and I don't think it will get any easier as it gets colder so we may come up short in the end anyway. Nevertheless, it's a great effort to even get ourselves in this position from where we were 2 months ago.

I think it’s going to be a while before we see how good or otherwise our window has been. There’s things I like but also with some caveats.

At keeper we’ve brought in Jack Stevens on loan from Oxford and packed off Lucas Covolan elsewhere. Stevens has looked decent so far and certainly better than what we had though with him being a loanee there’s the risk of a recall in January depending how Oxford are doing.

Defensively I think we’ve done alright getting in Forrester and Cass. Wingbacks the ones we’ve brought in have ability/potential but you can only play one on each side and it feels we’re too top heavy on this especially on the left.

In midfield Ojo has been hard working. Holden you’d say is N/A at the moment as he’s still working his way back from being out injured for the best part of two years.

Up front Harrison has done well so far. As VF16 mentions above Politic to us is a known commodity, though he will take a while to build up match fitness having played very sparingly since going to Italy. The Blackburn lad we’ll see. Wikipedia scouts may not look too kindly on him in terms of him only scoring the once but he’s a young lad and it may be the case the team he was in didn’t play to his strengths.

A really really painful window for us. Any more than 2-3 injuries and we’re struggling to fill the bench. On the plus side, we have a very good first XI and a handful of others who are more than capable of the bench so should be fine but, as I say, once players get tired and injuries occur we’ll be up against it.

Taylor has also been quoted in the press at midnight saying he’s really frustrated and his words smacked of someone who won’t hang around if we’re not able to be more active in a L1 market.

Aye, a real eye opener as to where we stand in the pecking order. Clearly losing out not just to League One sides, but many in League Two and even some in the National League. I wonder if we had sold Pond earlier we may have been able to use that money to attract players.
Its clear that to get quality players, you need to pay for it, and we aren't able to do that.
