I was going to type pretty much exactly this and then thought I can’t be bothered wasting my time responding to a comment like that. He’s a proper championship player and has been most of his career and we are in league 1. If it’s affordable he definitely improves us. Whether we can get a better option who knows but he definitely improves us.
You both need to look at his form and fitness this season, and there is a reason he isn't getting in a Huddersfield side in the bottom 3. As a winger we have better options BUT, Evatt doesn't play with traditional wingers, so where exactly does he play, and who does he replace?

Seeing we have allowed teams to score first in more then half of our league matches, defensive capabilities should be a priority

Think you need to have a closer look and this is exactly why I didn’t respond first time around because I knew it would drag me into this type of back and forth…. We have the 4th best defence in the league (we had the best before Shrewsbury game I believe) but in the bottom half for goals scored. And a good chunk of our goals come after 75th minute. Our box entries, xg and chance creation are very high but we don’t take our chances, especially earlier in the game. This makes us nervous and when we concede that early goal we’ve usually had a few good opportunities ourselves that we have spurned. We need a goal scorer. We need to be switched on earlier in games but that’s a team mentality problem not a defensive issue.

Also ward is a hybrid winger/striker like Dapo, kachunga etc. So he’d play up front. He is an upgrade on kachunga/Baka for sure. He works hard, presses and is a good finisher despite the 1 in 5 record. Plus always played at a higher level and left footed which other than Baka we don’t really have in the forward line. It’s fair enough to say it’s a no from you on an injury front or whatever but you said he wasn’t an upgrade. He’s played at a higher level than virtually any of our squad and scored more goals at that level than anyone in our squad.

Understand, these can go back and forth. My comment is based on me knowing a few Huddersfield lads from the old days, he's been carrying an injury since last season, which flares up after every match he plays, sometimes meaning he can't play the following week, and based on their knowledge, they can't believe we would risk taking him on, funnily enough a similar issue to Jordan Rhodes who plays for them as well

I get that from an injury record he might not be a perfect signing and why you would say no but you didn’t even mention that in your first post. You just said he doesn’t improve us. I’m not saying I want him or that he’s an ideal signing but he’s still better than a lot of what we have. I’m sure Evatt and Markham will do their due diligence anyway so they'll know if there are underlying issues. We will be linked with dozens of players between now and the end of Jan so it’s probably just paper talk anyway.

Early rumour ahead of the window opening is Aden Flint joining us from the lardies.

Would be the type of centre half we could do with as we lack a bit of height in there. Decent pedigree.

Aside from that Brad Walker to Hartlepool seems possible.

If flint is anything like the player he used to be that would be an incredible signing for league 1. Monster in both boxes.

He was an absolute donkey against us in pre season and judging by the Stoke forum he hasnt been much better in the important games. Think Connor Taylor would be a better bet but all us gasheads are hoping we get him back.
Why are Stoke helping you out with players its not something that would really happen here anymore

It never happened until this season when we did the Forrester deal with them. The simple answer is the Shanahan and Coates families get on a lot better than previous owners.

Taylor actually started his career with us but we let him go. Another failure of those in charge of our youth system at that time, it’d be a lot less likely to happen since DC and DF have totally revamped it.

It never has happened before, obviously we took Forrester off them in the summer (his choice) and they even loaned us McCarron (didn’t work out and believe he’s gone back already). Assume Flint would be permanent?

Another one going around this morning is David Worrall to Stockport which id be sad about, he has been a great servant to the club over 6 seasons and has so far this season been decent.

Talk is Kyle Knoyle in to replace him from Doncaster, seem to recall Cambridge fans loving him in their promotion season.

Be a tough one to sell Worrall. I thought L1 would be too much at this point in his career but he has been excellent when he’s played. At Stockport though the chance to get a good wedge you certainly wouldn’t begrudge him that.

Know very little of Knoyle other than he was in the Cambridge squad that went up from L2 as you say. How he’s got on since at Donny I don’t know.

Fucking love knoyle, was really decent in his time here and was gutted to see him leave, he was bang average though the two times I saw him play for Doncaster last season, haven’t a clue what he’s been like this season.

He sounds more the profile of player we’d be interested than say Flint who was mentioned earlier. Suppose his time at Donny it comes down to how you evaluate the environment he’s been in. Doesn’t strike me as the happiest of camps the last few years.

Isn’t he really injury prone?

Good player for definite and fills a need. Only thing that would put me off personally is having to do a deal with MacAnthony and Fry, don’t strike me as the easiest people to deal with.

Two bids for SPFL players accepted, our Scots head of recruitment been at work. The lad from St Mirren is also wanted by Pompey and they've had a bid accepted too, but surely he'd prefer a challenge with us, lol.

Looks like FGR are going to try and spend their way to safety:

Personally, I think they'll remain in trouble until they sack Birchnall.

Before you ask FGR fans, JDH was class for us in League 2 three years ago - I'd have him back tomorrow if he's still the same player.

Tyler Walker linked with us and Charlton on twitter. Seems to be every window since his loan spell with us! Would be chuffed if it came off mind.

Walker will be linked with just about every L1 and top L2 side in January, he's out of contract in the summer. Not quite sure what's happened with him, since Forest recalled him mid-season from us three seasons ago, he's hardly played or scored.

He'd be on an absolute wedge at Cov so even if paying a percentage of the wages that would be a dear do for anyone. Think that was from one of those accounts who pose as an ex-agent etc that pop up each transfer window so wouldn't give it much if any credibility.

The thing is both players are quite similar so I doubt we’ll get both, it’s also odd as central midfield is probably the area where we are best equipped. Would continue the recent trend of us signing Irish ex Cheltenham midfielders I suppose, Winchester, Dawson and now possibly Doyle Hayes.

No, there have been all sorts of rumours on Pasoti, but that one has not reared it’s head. Though some think it logical Jeffers will sign with you in Jan.

one person claims you are in for Charlie Austin.

I just went on to the league two forum, and saw that you posted about Austin. I know nothing about Khan, but be most surprised if Jeffers was a make-weight - proven goal scorers don’t grow on trees.

If Khan does sign where would he fit into the team unless a centre midfielder is leaving.

I can’t really see that happening at all. 19 games in L2 his only football league experience at the age of 27, no disrespect to the lad but we should be aiming a bit higher than that.
