Another underwhelming signing....Average at best. Yes i get that he is only on loan because Johnston is out all season, but i doubt we will see Johnston in a Bolton top again......Will at least give the lad a chance
Looked at Burtons Forum said he is decent seemed chuffed he was returning there early this afternoon

Nothing against the lad but we need to use the loan system for Marquee signings

Ah right, didn’t realise you watched Burton instead of Bolton last season.
Nothing against the lad but we should be using our loan slots for top players only.

Yes that is arrogant but the likes of Klopp and Guardiola trust sending the players to us....we should utilise that.

If he is better than Iredale, John he will play most games next season and West Brom will keep him

If them two keep him on the bench or even out the squad i see him returning to Brom in January and nobody wins

Could Bolton be in for a relegation scrap next season?
No i doubt we will fall that far, i could name a starting 11 that would finish top 6/8
Another 3/4 weeks i think our best signings are to come
We have Everton, West Brom before kicking off against you....Fancy our chances of rocking up against you unbeaten pre-season

It’s a loan with an option to buy… if you read the website announcement, we are taking a look at him before we spend the money. Win win

changes the whole signing steve, as you say win, win
Was announced the same time Trafford signed for Burnley for 19m......Nothing coming our way

The option to buy means we cannot lose

Ashworth showed promise and potential and is one for the future. It’s a good signing in the making. Would have liked to have got him back.

Not league 1 news but we're reportedly getting 5% of James Trafford's transfer fee to Burnley.
You are gonna need it with the multi-ball system coming, and not being able to rely on those ball boys running away with the ball :bg:

Is any young player ever not 'highly rated'? It seems to be a standard term for media for young player coming through Academies or being transferred.

Not a dig at what you've said.

No, you‘re absolutely right. I guess it applies to any player who has shown anything at youth level, but obviously there’s streams of young lads who just don’t develop as expected. The very best players I remember watching at academy level now have all had varying success at senior level - Ibe was right up there, came on loan to Derby and was everything I expected then just completely fell away. Sibley looks to be going down a similar path, was as good as any player when we won the U18 Premier League in 2019. In the first team, he came in and looked special very early on and has since regressed to the point it’s like watching a different player. The things he used to be so good at seem to be his biggest issue now. Shame really.

Random rumour of the day that Joe Pigott is having a medical at Leyton Orient today - Orient fans heard anything?
Twitter so unreliable.

Still salty about something I have no recollection of?
Assuming it’s the home game in 21-22 that we won 1-0.

We were utterly desperate and heading for relegation without wins like that so if we did time waste with ball boys then it’s completely understandable. They went up anyway so all good in the end.

It’s Pete O’rourke reporting it, he’s usually reliable.

Season 21/22 we got promoted you were holding onto a 1 nil lead and your ball boys were literally running away from our players with the ball when it was our corner or throw.
It's funny thinking about it now but my piss was boiling at the time like as it was near the end of the season and we needed the points.

Hope it's true, played well all the times I've seen him at Maidstone and Wimbledon. Hopefully Wellens can get him back to his best.

Would assume this means Bonne won't be coming back then, can't see us signing both.

Piggot will be a good signing. Never fit in at Ipswich but had a decent season on loan with us. Was never going to dislodge Colby Bishop but provided good support and has a great attitude.

No reason why he won't score a few this season, as he did a few years back at Wimbledon.

Hopefully means we've won the battle for Bonne. Desperately need some attackers.

Yeah I agree, unless we somehow move Drinan on - but I can’t see that, he’ll be happy to sit on the bench and someone like Bonne won’t be.

We desperately need a better striker, the amount of chances we miss - especially Drinan could prove costly for us.

Bonne is woeful at finishing. Which sounds odd as he scored a lot for us at one point, but he misses so many sitters and is always offside.

From what I've seen of them both, Pigott seems much more composed and is a better player imo.

I really think we'd be the perfect club for Bonne to revive his career. Mullin, Ironside, Smith....no coincidence all strikers have come to us not really fancied and they've performed much better than anyone had expected.

Drinan is a strange one, can get into great positions, but last season just couldn't seem to score. Started the season before with a few goals and had good confidence scoring 10 and assisting 3 before Christmas, then during our abysmal run of no win in 15, he seemed to lose all belief in his ability. Still think there is a decent player in there and just needs a run of luck to get his goal scoring confidence back.

I remember your ballboys and stewards doing the same to us last season. One steward even threw the ball into your crowd rather than give it to our player.

I have to admit our ballboys usually just sit on their chair if we are protecting a lead. Carlisle's are next level running away with the ball like a rugby player.
Most clubs do this sort of thing nowadays just varying levels of shithouseness

When he scored all those goals he was mainly playing in a two, next to Harry Smith which IMO helped him.

Playing up top on your own he runs all day but hasn’t got the ability to forge chances for himself, then as you say it doesn’t help when your missing chances too. He missed another one on one at Ebbsfleet on Wednesday at 1-0 and the feeling amongst the fans is one of: Same old……!

Joe Piggott now confirmed on a two year deal.

We need one more forward player and a centre back (we currently only have two fit ones) and we will be ready to go.

Corey O’Keeffe on his way to Barnsley from us apparently.

Decent player in a below average team last season but reckon in a better side he could do well at this level.
