It sounds like all the players Crawley have sold were complete shite 6-12 months ago. Maybe they know what they're doing...
Doubt they were complete shite. Raw and not at there full potential certainly. Got a good feeling on lolos that he can now push on and get fitter, faster and improve his technique. When we nearly went out of business in 2019/20 and Evatt came in he signed some utter dross from the non leagues, reserve football but among them two stood out even from the first few weeks....Santos and Dapo Afalayon. Peterborough seem to do well on these kind of signings.
Some work out some dont

Casey CTFC - Devils Surely you guys now have some money you can now go and spend too? Granted you'll have to split it more towards wages, with L1 players wanting more money, but I'm sure you'll all be fine.

FWIW, I think you'll stay up.
Owners are trying to buy the freehold of the ground. We currently pay a peppercorn rent to our local council and the fact it wasn't ours saved us a few years ago, so I'm not 100% behind it.

They did splash the cash on the team the first season they were here but last season was all pick ups from National north and south.

I'm old. Started supporting years ago in the southern leagues. I'll keep turning up but what's happening now is worrying.

In other news Crawley have signed Rushian Hepburn Murphy after his release by Swindon.

Swindon fan on league 2 forum called him a speedboat without a driver.

The LEP have confirmed we've enquired about Adam Phillips at Barnsley.

Guess that confirms Alan Browne is leaving, bit of a disappointing replacement on the face of it. 26 and never played above L1 level.

I think Crawleys best asset is Scott Lindsay, he really seemed to get the best out of some fairly ordinary players (or possibly saw their untapped. potential) either way he's seemingly come from
nowhere and did an unbelievable job last season.

I think Lolos is an interesting signing for a club like Bolton. Definitely worth a punt and could be a really shrewd signing.

We are funded through advertising revenue deriving from media and social media exposure, with a particular emphasis on the American market. Two season ago our merchandising revenue from the US alone was 3.5m (and that has increased by all accounts) . There were suggestions that the level of revenue we were bringing in last season as a L2 side was around 20mil- mostly through sponsorship and foreign market merchandise, That seems quite unique to other lower league clubs to me? we can only do that because of having celebrity owners. Again, quite unique. There is a lot about the club that isn't unique - our owners have loaned the club money, and we do still need external money for big infrastructure projects like the new Kop, but that doesn't take away the fact we are the only lower league club in Britain driving revenue in the way we are doing it.

The owners did put in a lot of money initially, but that's because we were a club who had been badly underfunded for 15 years, didn't own a ground or training ground and needed a lot of initial investment in all aspects of the club. With the press release for the 22/23 accounts they said that revenue had now reached a point that the club is self sustaining.

Obviously this could be a flash in the pan, and I get how annoying the blanket media coverage of Wrexham for the past few years has been to everyone else but there is a lot of nonsense spoken about how we are financed.

TLDR : I disagree with you.
Your company accounts tell a different tale, but I'll just leave it there....

£750k bid agreed for Alfie May with Huddersfield. Sounds like we're planning to use it to bring in Ahadme. Still think it's bonkers to let him go given he is guaranteed to score goals. Would expect us to try and bring in Ahadme and another but seems like a huge gamble.

Just checked and we are now at 13 signings so far for the season.
Let’s go on the law of averages that a quarter are decent. So that’s 3 good ones.
We have a fan forum next Tuesday with the new owners and manager- we usually have about 50 turn up for these events, but this one seems to have got some interest and we have shifted nearly 700 tickets.
See what their plans for us are and their planned changes for the stadium.
A pitch you can play football on instead of beach volley ball?

You can leave it there.

Our company accounts are only until 2022/23. Last year's accounts will tell a different story (Sponsorship deals off the back of the proven success of the documentary rather than the two year speculative Tik Tok deal, Higher average attendance, US Tour revenue, Increased international attention, EFL solidarity money) . This seasons accounts will as well.

If I'm wrong you can point it out this time next year.

Lorent Tolaj has signed for Port Vale. All a bit here say or rumours, but I think that's maybe the 3rd or 4th signing that has turned us down for League 2 so far. Feeling a bit like Crawley.

Tolaj looked like he’d won a competition when we had him on loan. Northampton look like they’re miles short of where they were last season as things stand.

It's hard to compare because we literally haven't done any business. From the 11 players that made the most minutes last year we've lost Leonard, Sherring, Bowie, McWilliams, Simpson, so just under half (as well as Appere who was just outside the top 11 for minutes and 4 others who made less of a contribution) and we've signed no-one to replace any of them yet, though mutiple names that have been put out there as people we have been interested in seem to have signed in League 2 instead so far.

Hylton was by far our biggest earner on our books and after making an impressive 0 goals in two seasons we've finally got shot of him, and in response seem to just be sitting on the money like a dragon guarding it's hoard doing nothing with it.

We had Keith Hill for a season after we just avoided liquidation, easy to forget though. Also Afalayan signed 6 months after Evatt took over, right at the end of the transfer window. Santos looked hopeless for his first few games, he was awful, remember when we lost to Newport at home, I thought he was absolute garbage and only stood out for looking shit. Still think he is crap now, has a brilliant game once a month , a nightmare game every month and is average the rest of the time. We really need better than him and if we do ever go up to the Championship he should be fucked off, not good enough

Well here is the thing. We laid a new one. Dug all the channels out for drainage and when it rained hard a few weeks ago the fucker flooded again.
So god knows what’s happening now.
Needs sorting though for us to play lovely silky ticky tak football with all these wonderful players we have signed.

Santos looked shite first two games that season and Port Vale when they mullered us 6-3
Afalayan came to us because he was a million miles from West Hams team and he had loan spells at Oldham and Mansfield and never ripped any trees up.
Santos is exceptional as a centre half, but he is no Maldini. Evatt needs to tell him win the headers in the box and get rid of the ball to players more gifted than him.
Quite simply nobody better than him playing in that position in this league
Quite simply the 3/5/2 system does Santos no favours

To be fair Carol is splashing the cash this summer to right the wrongs of last season.

Lesson from us though is second season is the real killer test.

See below, looks like he was carrying an injury which may explain to some degree his awful performances last season, I will have to give him the benefit of the doubt as Evatt appears to be doing and hope he does improve. His contract finishes at the end of this season anyway.

IAN Evatt is backing Ricardo Santos to come back stronger at Wanderers after admitting his captain failed to hit his own high standards in the second half of last season.

Speaking to The Bolton News, Evatt threw cold water on speculation that the club was looking to move on the 29-year-old centre-back this summer.

Santos struggled to overcome a tear in his calf muscle in the second half of last season and played with painkilling injections for several weeks before the play-off final defeat against Oxford United.

But Evatt believes the defensive talisman will be one of several players looking for redemption this season after the disappointment suffered last month.

“Rico has been a massive part of our journey as a football club and I think he deserves respect,” he told us. “Players have off-days, off-days, and in a private conversation Rico would admit in the second half of the season he did not hit the heights that he did previously. He is honest enough to know that and I am honest enough to have that conversation with him.

“But there is some context, and sometimes the fans and the wider public don’t get to hear that. He has been carrying issues and injuries and when that happens you sometimes can’t achieve your highest level.

Apparently one of our signings is Charlie Kelman who we had on loan two seasons back.

Now confirmed on another season long loan.

He fits Wellens style of play, but needs to be more clinical with his chances, spent second half of last season on loan wt Wigan scoring twice.

Also accepted a bid from Birmingham for Alfie May. Hopefully can drive his price up a bit. Was under the impression he favoured Huddersfield because his wife had moved back to Doncaster to be near family but guess we will see

Mumurs that we're signing a couple early part of next week (pre-season starts on Monday with the players in yesterday for testing), one of which is Danish.

Cheltenham media has strongly linked us to their striker Rob Street today. Looks like he's a work rate kinda striker rather than a goal scorer, which suggests to me he'll probably be understudy to Ben House but play along side him when Walker isn't available (House can actually score goals but didn't play as a main striker last season).

EDIT - House and Street up front would be full of puns. Back in the day we had Kevin Sandwith, Paul Mayo and Danny Bacon.

Yes I saw that about Rob Street, poor scoring ratio but looks like he is a ‘project’ kind of potential signing should the significant fee tempt the Robins to sell.

We would win on location but if it comes down to wages as it normally does then doubt we can compete with Birmingham.
