Unsure why you're limiting the within budget sides to four? As far as I know Rovers will have a budget around £2 million, we were reported to be on course to break even and it's not much of an increase on our L2 one.

Jay Harris, Adam Buxton and Zoum Bakayogo have all left the club. Think the first two were offered some sort of deal, but not up to their expectations. Certainly could do a job at L2 level.

Linked with Steffan Payne, pretty underwhelming really. Miller signs up for another 6 months, still seriously short in the striking department. Now Harris has gone, must be in the market for another defensive midfielder. Some decent recruiting in other areas, but more additions required.
Well Payne's just had his contract terminated with us. Best news for all concerned. One big very bad apple.

Yep, Payne signs on two year deal. Mellon certainly wont stand for a bad attitude, so we'll see how it goes. Still need another striker though. Hopefully one of Lang, Rose or Evans.

Goes AWOL on and off the pitch, doesn't jump, argues with fans. Surprised he didn't end up in L2 tbh. Thank god he has gone.

Any redeeming features? Surprised with this as Micky doesn’t suffer fools, also concerned if this is the pinnacle of our striker recruitment.

Payne has one good game, his debut. Other than that he was absolutely shocking.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a lazier striker with a worse attitude.

Never mind the fact he went to our fans at Barnsley away, stuck his fingers up and told them to piss off.

Good luck Tranmere

I thought Potter was a class act when he played against us for MK Dons, although that was a few years ago now. His injury record is not great, so hopefully we can keep him fit.

Darren Potter was injured pretty much all of his time at Rotherham.
He started really well 1st season but that was pretty much it until the last home game of last season.

He looked class when he came on and I thought we would give him another year, given we were relegated.

Unfortunately we decided to let him go, I know Warney was a big fan so I can only assume he was listening to the advice of the medical department.

If he plays he will be very good for Tranmere.

Don't know much about Tranmere - if they're sensibly and competently run then good luck to them.

Jamie Allen was a very useful player for us. Kept things ticking over in midfield and got his share of goals. Seems to have been a regular for a decent Burton team, so should be an asset for Coventry.

Aaron Wilbraham has signed on for another year with us. Hope he can replicate his end of season form for 9 months. And young midfielder Aaron Morley has signed a three year deal. Hopefully will be pushing for a regular place next season.

Up to now I think Tranmere’s signings (Sid Nelson apart)have been brave and risky, but most of all quite bizarre. Given that Darren Potter, Callum Woods and Ishmael Miller have hardly featured in recent seasons and are all prone to injury.
Either we’re broke or Micky Mellon is a bigger genius than I first thought!

An out, we've lost Chuks Aneke to Charlton. I was hoping we would keep both Chucks and Kieran Agard but it was obviously on the cards we would lose at least one when Tisdale signed 2 new strikers.

Good luck in the Championship.

I’d add Kieron Morris to Nelson, a grafter who fitted in quite well last season and whose recruitment was expected. Otherwise I share your uncertainty about the recruiting programme and the injury record of the trio you highlighted. There’s been more change than usual over the summer and feeling apprehensive about whether it will all pan out. However, some Rochdale fans felt David Perkins was a waste of a wage, yet despite his age, he turned out to be just what was needed for us in the second part of last season, have to hope that Micky’s worked similar magic for those coming through the door now.

I actually think they’re quite good additions just to bolster the squad. We’ve got a solid defence with more than enough cover at centre back now.

In midfield you’re still expecting Banks and Perkins to be the main men. You’d also think we’ll sign Luke on a permanent which would be ideal. Then we’ve got a fair amount of cover to still have a competitive side.

Up top we have Jennings, Miller, Payne and Mullin as options so you’d think we’ll still strengthen that area before the season starts. Get one more good striker and those 5 are a decent 5 to choose from.

The wing is where we might need another one or two. We only have the new lad from Villa and Kieran Morris so another two wouldn’t go a miss.

A new striker and a couple of wingers and I think we’ll have a good squad for next season.

We have Ryan Taffazoli training with us and playing for us in ireland this weekend.

I fully expected him to make a step up to the championship, still annoyed he left Mansfield out of contract - developed him and got nowt in return.

Im sorry but Payne is a waste of space.

Wouldn't underestimate Potter at all. As Dippy said, he was key in Dele Alli progressing the way he did, and was a vital player in our 2014/15 promotion to the Championship. Very intelligent player.

Looks like he's had fitness issues lately, but if he can stay fit, he'll be a real find for you and the type of player that a club like Tranmere need to maintain their stay in L1.

Luca Connell has gone to Celtic.

Means our current first XI squad consists of:

GK: Remi Matthews
GK: Ben Alnwick

MID: Jason Lowe
MID: Luke Murphy
MID: Erhun Oztumer

FW: Josh Magennis
FW: Connor Hall

We only need 5 outfielders to walk this league. Roll on August.

What’s going on with Oztumer?

Everyone down here thought it was nailed on that he would be signing for us but it never materialised. Is he staying?

Our recruitment has been a lot better than I expected given our limited budget. We have certainly managed to get bodies in the door relatively easily, and most of the new players have a decent background. Plus, there has not been that much upheaval, as nine of the side that finished last season are likely to start this one.

I think the only position where we need more quality is centre froward, which was to be expected after losing Norwood. However, even up front we have more options now, and different styles of player.

CB James Wilson has left us by mutual consent. Bostwick and Shackell are better, then we signed Bolger in January so the writing was on the wall with that one.

Probably end up at a L2 Club I imagine.

Sounds exactly like Chris Maguire at Bury, behaved like an absolute twat and was eventually sold to Sunderland. Some players just have a bad attitude when things arent working out for them at a club.

Allegedly after Jack Payne (the ex-Southend/Huddersfield one rather than our own one). In a tussle with Salford over him apparently. Fucks sake.

Its a funny one with payne judging by what pirates say we shouldnt touch him with a bargepole however after seeing what mellon has done with cook, norwood, monthe, harris, jennings and mcculloch i say bring it on.

They have all developed so much under him nors even going out of his way to say that mellon sees and improves stuff nors even saying that mellon worked on stuff other managers ignored or did not see .

He was class at dover but that was two levels below but cookie made the jump last season so why shouldnt paine. I think hes worth the gamble
