So tranmere sold tickets for seats that did not exist? Or maybe people decided to stand up in the aisles instead?

More than likely the 2nd one. Quite a few empty seats on the left hand side as you might be able to just make out on that picture.

Whatever happened it was a good following - I'm not knocking, just stating that I would not expect tranmere to let more people in than can be accommodated.
Certainly celebrated the goal !

I'll leave the experienced to deliver the league stats. Didn't think it warranted a new thread so, courtesy of our resident spreadsheet man, Nick Pomery, our season's figures (which look a lot better than the on field stats) Cambridge United attendance stats for 2014/15:

Home League average 5,108
Total home League attendance 117,474
Highest home League attendance 7,109 v Burton Albion, May 2nd
Lowest home League attendance 3,152 v Morecambe, August 23rd
Average number of visitors 623
Highest number of visitors 2,003 v Luton Tn, September 20th
Lowest number of visitors 59 v Accrington Stanley, April 11th

Cambridge ranked 8th in terms of home attendances, just behind Tranmere R - 5,140 - and well in front of ninth ranked Northampton Tn - 4,599.
Top ranked were Portsmouth - 17,558, and bottom were Accrington - 1,478. The average attendance in the division was 4,677 and total attendance 2,581,521, up 343 and 189,312 respectively on League 2 2013/14.

This was Cambridge United's highest ever average attendance in the bottom division, beating the 5,045 recorded in 1970/71.

Our average travelling following for League games was 504, with the largest following being the 1,624 at Stevenage on December 28th and the smallest being the 105 at Exeter City on Tuesday 10th February.

Our largest home attendance of the season in any competition was the 7,987 v Manchester United for the FA Cup 4th Round on January 23rd, and our lowest home attendance in any competition the 2,870 v Fleetwood in the First Round.

Fantastic numbers all round for us, obviously the Man Utd game helped our home average but from what I recall reading it wasn't actually all that much, last couple of months of 2014 our home gates shot up for no apparent reason and then stayed at that level for the rest of the season. Good away followings as well, a lot of local games undoubtedly helps though, same as next season.

Be interesting to see how the home crowds hold up, you'd expect a bit of a dip in the second season I'd have thought but maybe the Man Utd game has got a few more people back in the habit. Equally, I don't think the pricing, performances, and general treatment of the fans will have done anything to help, so I think in the end it will fall off a bit (assuming we meddle around in mid-table and don't end up pissing this tinpot league). Anything over 4.5k is still pretty good for us though.

Can you do net home fans and % of home to away.

Or have you not got the data for it?

Percentage thing is all well and good, but our support (as well as couple others) has been restricted due to sell outs this season. Our trips to Stevenage, Burton, Wycombe, Northampton and Wimbledon were sold out way in advance. Would have had 3,5 at Wycombe and Stevenage and up by 2,000 at Northampton/Wombles. Could have shifted few hundred more for Burton too.

Not that I really care, I'm just at work and bored. Sigh. Good league for us next year, lots of local games.

That's a decent effort from York, but then again we've been shite at home all season so perhaps it makes sense.

Thanks northstandexile.

I pretty much agree with most of these. Totally agree with 14, disagree with 6 others by no more than 1/2 so not worth worrying about. Southend I have as 689, and Carlisle as 489. The other two are down to my still missing Accrington v Newport, and only having an estimate for Burton v Morecambe. What have you got for these two?

Thanks northstandexile.
I've sorted my Carlisle differences.

D&R v Southend - the D&R official site match report states 1455 away fans - you have 1145.

Were the other two you posted official or estimates? (ie Newport at Accrington and Morecambe at Burton)

1607 Southend at Stevenage tonight, great effort.
5183 overall, so just over 3500 home fans.

I was disappointed with the Stevenage attendance, would of thought they would be able to get much more than just over 3500

Play-Off Semi Finals are small fry to us now, having made Wembley our second home in recent years, whilst regularly thrashing the likes of Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, not to mention entertaining Galacticos such as Gareth Bale, watching Southend with the likes Ben Coker, and his pouncy hair, is barely worth getting up for.

We allocated 900 to Stevenage with the option of more if they sold out I believe they've sold just under 600 with just over 2 days to go, disappointing. The club thinking about letting home fans go in the north stand depending on how sales go today I guess.

What you mean by that is, you're a pathetic non league entity and a hindrance on the football league. Cool.
