Who own's Bradford's ground and training ground?

This is seen as a bit of sticking point for investment at Cheltenham. Our ground is owned by the council, but we pay them a peppercorn rent and have a lease of nigh on 100 years, so are not at any risk of losing it. If not owning the ground is an issue, that tells me you're looking for the wrong investors (surely they only want to own the ground for potential development?). Of course, if the rent is to a schyster then I'd get it (like Oxford and Kassam for example).

We do own our training ground though, having purchased it last year.

Ground is owned by our ex-chairmen, Gordon Gibbs - he owns Flamingo Land. We were circa £36m in debt in 2004, so we needed a cash injection. We sold the ground and Club superstore (which was the largest club superstore in Europe at the time) to Gibbs Pension Fund. We signed a 25-year lease to continue playing there, which costs us around £500k per season.

Training ground is owned by Woodhouse Grove School (Private School). Some of our fans just can’t get past the fact we train here, but the facilities are very good. I have a relative who attends school here, so I’d like to think I know a-bit more than the average fan.

We’re in the process of buying our ground back, which will come at a cost of circa £5m. When Rupp is able to do this, he won’t receive and credit for it from some fans and they’ll still maintain he isn’t interested in football and hates owning Bradford City AFC.

We was given about 1150/1200 originally for the side stand, this sold out. Then a block of 250 for the Dallas stand which sold last week followed by a further 250 in the Dallas, I think when I last checked there was a few left about 115, so about 400 in the Dallas. Do these numbers add up?.

He wants a silly price for it supposedly.

He bought us for approx £6m in 2016 when we were a top end L1 club - back to back play offs, L1 play off final, cup runs of note (though not forgetting we owned nothing other than our FL place and squad).

We've since regressed, been relegated and spent now 6 years in L2 and allegedly wants north of/close to £10m for us - despite being much lower than when he arrived and still owning nothing. Though he did cover a large chunk of Covid costs and saw us through that - kudos to him for that. Again, the club recouped a lot of that from the sell on fee when McBurnie moved from Swansea to Sheff Utd.

He's not a football man so while he isn't a malicious owner, I think if he got an appropriate offer he'd be out of here. Note he also turned down Wagmi before they bought Crawley.

Having said all that, if Tranmere are being part sold for £15m to this US musician, then perhaps his valuation of our club isn't so outlandish.
Why did he buy the club then is he a fan or an outsider so to speak ?

Just more interested as to what his strategy was do well and make a decent profit or something maybe ?

It actually is a decent operation barring owning the assets isn't it ? Debt free running at a small loss year on year in any other business you would say he was doing a good job really it just shows you how different football is compared to anything else - a mad game now

You need to point me in the right direction of a decent kebab shop , because i couldn't find one last time in the gridded system and the kebab van was closed - it was a Tuesday night though maybe Saturdays there are a few more bits ?
Yeah unfortunately where the stadium is located (in Bletchley) isn't a hotspot of independent food joints and pubs. It's better on Saturday's, but still not great.

He was supposed to be the silent money man.

He shared a mutual bank manager with another individual - Edin Rahic - and they were introduced. Rahic was the "football man" having been a semi pro back in Yugoslavia and Germany. Rahic sold Rupp the dream of Premier League football using youth/castoffs from the big teams in close proximity to Bradford.

Rahic proceeded to spunk our biggest budget since the Championship years and 4th biggest at the time in L1 on a squad which did ultimately get us out of L1. In the wrong direction. Rahic was fired by Rupp who remains to this day.

I still maintain, that squad was far too good to go down. However by that point, there was far too many off-field distractions.

Just? How many were you expecting? From my experience on Tuesday, the terrace and seating section is around that capacity and it's around 20% of their overall space. What's the fume?

303 away fans at Blundell Park…a 50% more than I expected
Tbf our away support has improved a fair bit in the last few years, while our home support has got worse during the same time period.

I think all the kids who used to go to home games with their parents have grown up and are now full blooded young adults / yoofs causing mayhem on the streets of a town near you instead (don’t blame them, the experience at away games is infinitely better than our home games even with our previously shite away record before Lindsey joined). It has also coincided with more and more crowd trouble at our away games so would align.

I think we now actually take more / at least the same away on average in a fairly northern L2 while doing meh than we did when we were in L1 for many years competing at the top end.

Less than half of what we took there last season on a Tuesday from the biggest club in L1 and L2.

If only Scott knew how much he’s pissed off the online fan forums around the country with that one comment. Rather amusing actually :shifty:
