Scummy I thought you might be keeping a low profile today .
Nah, there’s a dimwit from Doncaster making a tit out of himself in the FA Cup thread so thought I’d have a browse for the entertainment. Hope you enjoyed your day out.

Nope the max is about 1300 but if you have been nawty on away trips the met police will limit you and make segregation bigger.
Unlikely to be any issues with Grimsby so you should get your full allocation. We always hold back a bit in case home Fairweather supporters want tickets. I'm hardcore so I'll be behind the home goal.

Over 1000 tickets sold for Vale away at the end of the month. With still 3 weeks to go, should hopefully be over 1500 on the day which ain't too bad for us considering it's a Monday night on sky.

Only 500 sold so far for Walsall this Saturday though which is very poor, should be taking atleast 1000 there aswell but can only see it being 750-800 at this rate.

The last time I went , Saturday will be my first visit to the new place quite excited - take it the pitch has recuperated ok?
DA - after the game “there are lots of positives, we were well on top in the first half and should have been 2 or 3 ahead at HT, we then got cautious and the players were thinking too much about falling into imaginary sink hole while Wimbledon were scoring 4 second half goals. We need to learn from this and get the players to only deal with actual sink holes that appear during the game…”

Nice to see you bring a decent amount to us for a change!

I have to be honest I can't recall a meeting where we have both been challenging the top of end, suppose the closest was 2019/20 all be it we pushed into the top end later on before Covid, usually either one or both of us are doing badly!

He says the BP pitch is the worst in the league or something like that , so Plough Lane will be like a bowling green

Yes unfortunately that season finished early due to covid, just a couple of weeks before we were due to visit Vale Park, bit gutting as I think there was an outside chance we could have got promoted at Vale Park the way things were going.

It would of been yes, the return fixture would of been a real humdinger as we hit form and was powering towards the play offs but Covid curtailed that! Good season that, we only lost 8 games, (you did us 5-2 in one of those), we had that great evening at the Etihad when Pope did what he said he'd do against Stones and we looked the form side heading towards the play off spots when it was curtailed.

Artell has history from when he signed for us in 2012 and then was the only one to jump ship when the take over fell through out of administration despite a speech saying they should all stay and stick together (according to Micky's autobiography).

I never really got it overly in that aspect though as we won automatic promotion without him! If he'd played maybe he wouldn't have been as good who knows?!

Aside from a few outbursts from the games he managed against us I don't imagine he will get too much stick to be honest when we meet.

Upto over 700 for Walsall now, so might yet get 1000 there aswell which is abit more respectable, still not great though.

Think we are at about 900 for Wimbledon. With what the home ST holders have been witnessing recently maybe they are nearly all London and SE Mariners…

Often read about how many London based Mariners there are, but there were plenty of NELincs Town fans at Gillingham on a Tuesday night ( certainly the majority amongst the away fans).
The same at Tranmere, the vast majority being Gy & Clee based

Me and a few mates live down south and always just use the one's anywhere down as an excuse for a bit of a session , a couple i know don't go to any home games but just the more southern one's /away games . We have a hell of a lot of exiled fans both abroad and other places in the uk ; many leave the Town don't they I think . There are always one's I see who go from Grimsby to every away game though - got talking to a lad at Gillingham actually who's doing every game this season home & away in every competition even that trophy thing - dedication that , I couldn't do it lol . Does anyone else on here do every game following their team ?

Never managed it, (i am East Midlands based) with Vale.

In the 2012/13 promotion season I did all but 4 (Exeter A, Southend A, Plymouth A, AFC Wimbledon A) but thats the closest i've got... then I met the wife and had kids and any attempts are gone!

Yeah mine has never got it, took her before we had kids a few times but she doesn't get it, nor the stress of it that I go through  i think she actually resents them! Took my son but he just wants a Messi top!

My daughter has shown the most interest but shes now less into it.

It's a long, arduous task, but kids come round eventually (if they like football). My 18 year old came for a couple of years, but he only liked playing football. He now has no interest. My 14 year old took a decent amount of work though - he started coming at 6 years old as a regular, but he just liked the pub before and after games. It was only when he did his first away game (Crewe in August 2021) that he got the bug, now he wants to go to every game home and away.

As for my wife - she despises football and the hold it has over me and my boy.

I did about 4 years in a row without missing a single game in all competitions. Had a few financial struggles and then my son arrived so had to leave a few. Took him to a pre season friendly just before he turned 2 to test the waters. Then I got him a ST for his 5th birthday and he went most Saturday home games that season which ended up with his first 'away' game being promotion at Wembley. Took him to the odd away game the following season in League One. His first was MK Dons in midweek during half term. Took him to Bolton, Forest Green, Morecambe, Portsmouth, Burton, Shrewsbury, Derby, Oxford, Bristol Rovers, Carlisle, Reading, Fleetwood, Cheltenham, Northampton and Wigan.

Now he goes every ground he's not already done. Plus, we go to non league games or neutral grounds for him to tick more off when we're away somewhere he's already been, or on Tuesday's and Sunday's with decent transport to get there and back in time. He's currently done 123 matches and 60 grounds.

My lad is 13 yo now, has been a season ticket holder for several years. We live about 40 miles away from HQ and don’t go to every game but he is a staunch Spireite now. I consider this one of my greatest achievements in life lol.

My missus is the same as some I guess, can’t stand football but more so the time, effort and expense that goes into supporting our club.

Last season I listened to a podcast by a passionate Newport supporter. I think she ran the team’s forum or something like that. When asked how she became interested in supporting Newport she replied: -

“When a youngster her dad and brother went on Saturday’s to watch the games while she went shopping with her mum. One Saturday her mum said that she had something else to do and that she must go to game with her dad and brother. That game she fell in in love with football and Newport and became their No 1 fan.”

I’m not a Newport supporter and I may have got something slightly wrong. However a Newport supporter on site might correct my version (or even get the female to respond herself.)

Can be down to luck (or unlucky some may say), I was a kid watching Channel 4 when Vale played on TV (used to be a second tier game from the midlands on every week, sure it was hosted with Jimmy Greaves IIRC) and just wanted them to win, don't know what it was, the kit? the name? but wanted them to win... one of the early games I recall on TV was us 4-0 up v QPR only to concede late goals to draw 4-4 and probably should of learnt my lesson then! So didn't take the Forest or Leicester route of most of my friends and family!

Did wonder about life choices when some of them headed to Porto and Atletico Madrid whilst I headed to watch us get battered in L2 when we last came down!

It was ITV that used to have Central Soccer Special on a Sunday.

I remember that game vividly - I watched it at my Nan's house. It's on Youtube I think - in fact, I'm quite sure I've posted it on here or another thread at some point.

EDIT: Here it is -

Thats the one!

We should of been 5-0 if I recall as Tony Naylor had one which looked over the line... wasn't given and the rest is infamy in Vale history!

The season we sat in 5th in the Championship with 3 games to go, set for a shot at trying to make the Premier League and in typical Vale style blew it!

Sold out the roughly 850 Walsall sent us now. Pay on the day available aswell.

Oddly they seemed to have sold us some seats down the side and others behind the goal, I'm sure it's usually one or the other.
