Bit random but can any Mansfield fans recommend anywhere my wife and Daughter (10 year old) can go when we play at Mansfield on 13th October?
My lads Birthday is the day before so I’m taking him and they want to come with us but don’t want to go to the game.
All I can find for them so far is an Odeon cinema half a mile away but that all depends on if there’s anything on for them at the right sort of time.
Any ideas I’d be grateful for cheers.

It depends on what type of thing they want to do. As other have said, Water Meadows water park is decent and near Field Mill. Maybe East Midlands Designer Outlet just off junction 28 if they fancy some shopping. Wheelgate Park is a younger kids theme park at Farnsfield. Alternatively, there are shit loads of country parks dotted around.

I think Mansfield are building a new entertainment complex near the stadium. It’s going to feature a few modern things like Wimpy and Blockbusters.
Dont you knock Wimpys! I remember attending a few parties there as a kid.

I’ve only really followed the Flitcroft saga since stalking/joining 1FF. I see that some Mansfield fans are starting to turn on him after probably underperforming. Added to that, it seems most Swindon fans weren’t too sad to see him leave. Which leaves me to ask, what has he actually achieved in his managerial career and how does he keep getting jobs?

Probably because he talks a good job.

Whatever floats your boat, I suppose!

I thought these went bust years ago, just seen they are still on the go.

Yeah. There’s one in Nottingham, walked Past it today ironically - used to be one in Mansfield up whatever street it is that goes up from McDonald’s on the right.

He achieved pro motion with bury with a massive budget, but other than that nothing.

As I said on Stagsnet, if a rival club comes in for your manager normally you tell them to F off, especially given Swindon are bigger than Mansfield, that they seemingly tripped over themselves in a rush to drive him up here isn’t exactly glowing.

To be fair Mansfield is a good job, you don’t have to be very good to get it but you'll get a good wage, good budget/squad and have a generally forgiving chairman.

Bury vs Mansfield in a fortnight is going to be very fun if Flitcroft is still in charge. I hope we put the final nail in his coffin. The massive twat.

We’ve got him at the CG end of October. Don’t you go getting him sacked before then!

Wait, so even though Flitcroft got you promoted you still dislike him?

I can see us beating Bury and Swindon, and he’s going to run around the pitch windmilling afterwards shouting ‘galazanise’

Those who dislike him are almost universally those fans of clubs he has managed. He sounds plausible when he takes over, says things that fans want to hear but is unable to deliver.

The things Bury fans were telling us are the exact same things we were telling a Stags fans and, now, they have had time to see he is just the same with them.

The bloke has such an ego he won’t admit to himself that his methods don’t work so keeps on doing the same old things and getting similar results.

He is a fraud.

Even though he got us promoted with a massive budget, scraped through on the last day against already relegated Tranmere, he failed miserably in L1 with a good squad as he had an addiction for changing his team, playing players in the wrong positions and falling out with star players. Chris Eagles publicly critisised his training methods calling them crazy, bearing in mind Eagles had trained under the likes of Ferguson.

We’d have absolutely lost in the play-offs had we not beaten Tranmere, the teams he assembled were great when things were going well but one loss and it would take him months to stop the rot, this happened in 3 consecutive seasons.

Then off the field he called Bury fans ‘deserters’ and ‘disgusting’. He’s genuinely thick. You know when Rochdale fans are chanting ‘David Flitcroft, he’s one of our own’ that things are getting bad.

We burgled a point from MK tonight but who cares.

Normally I would say a result was fair, but we genuinely should have won that. Our fault for not being clinical enough, but Yeovil capitalised on the rare occasion they threatened and made them most of their chance.

On that performance though, I'm confident we won't lose many games this season.

He is a fraud he's already statistically our worst manager ever, keeps making the same mistakes again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again. He keeps playing players out of position, his subs are often questionable.

The good thing for you, is that he's our fraud :bang::sad: and we're stuck with him

It is quite impressive how he keeps churning out the same old shite at different clubs yet still gets a job.

If - when - it goes tits up with you and the budget you’ve given him it might well be end for him. He’s got both Bury and us in the space of a couple of weeks next month.

Don’t think he is that thick skinned. He bleated about not being appreciated when he left us. It’s about the only game I’m looking forward to this season for non footballing reasons.

He’s been given good funds to get six players but that’s it.

He did not have total freedom that our budget can give due to many players being under contract, that being said any decent manager should at the bare minimum have this side comfortably in the top 7 IMO.

It can still go either way, not confident mind.

We're at little 'ol Newport today, so I fully expect us to smash 'em. Anything less than a 4-0 hammering and I'll be disappointed.

Joe Dunne's probably thinking the same as he's playing 3 CB in a 5-3-2 formation. Good man.

After not winning on the road for almost a year, we’ve gone and won two away games on the bounce!

Funny old game.
