Works well in the Bundesliga (or did when i went a decade ago) but the mentality is a bit different here. The Bundesliga is cheap so is more family orientated whereas here a you get more of a chav culture in grounds.

I would say though if in plastic bottles or cups does it make it any different to drinking a plastic bottle of coke? guess safety wise its safer than a piping hot Bovril!
Should be compulsory at the CG - along with weed and any other mind numbing drugs.

blindfolds would be handy as well.

How funny that we changed our goal music recently and haven't scored a bloody goal since!

Clown like behaviour.

Terrible idea imo. Far too many football fans are knobs and a soon as they score they will use it as an excuse to throw their beer all over the place cos they are ‘a lad’ and think of themselves hilarious

I very much want to disagree but I can't. The older I get, the more football fans like this hack me off. I want to endure my football sitting in stoney silence thank you very much!

Haha yep, the whole throwing the beer in the air that was popular in the WC was fucking stupid. That dance that lads do on the concourse as well with their arms going up and down in front of themselves as they wobble around. Twats.

However, having lived overseas and gone to football where you can have a drink in the stand during a game I can honestly say there are few things finer. In addition, I hate having a few and then having to stop for 2 hours (if not braving the half time bar) and then coming out of a game groggy having watched a shite 1-0 defeat. I completely agree though, it can't work in this country. Our drinking culture is shamefully problematic.

Agreed SOC. Footy fans in other countries have got the right idea - why buy an overpriced beer and not drink it?

I would get it was some absolutely vital match. Like when the side you support has to got to get a goal from somewhere in order to retain their FL place, and then that 4 foot useless RB that plays for your lot somehow comes up with a bullet header deep in stoppage time. But throwing beer in the air just cos you've just taken a 1-0 lead at home to Witton Albion is pathetic.

I went to a jungle night at the one they were cutting to in Croydon on the BBC coverage. It's called Boxpark and has loads of hipstery overpriced independent lookalike but actually chain intenational food outlets selling booze. Average price of a beer is probably about £7 I reckon. Don't even think they were full pints either.

I watch a fair bit of sport in Sydney currently. Beer in hand is great. The culture in the ground is a million miles away from an English football match though. I would still not have a problem per se in seated areas in England though. The big practical thing is in Oz you can get out of your seat and walk along the aisle to the steps relatively easily, so you don't upset the whole row with constant backward and forward movement for drinks. At pretty much all the English grounds I have been to there is no way you could do this, everybody would have to get up to get out of your way whilst you precariously balance your beer whilst edging along, and probably pouring a fair bit of it on the person in the row in front ! Also having a slightly wider aisle makes it easy to put it on the floor in front of you whilst you watch the match. I do think it should be allowed in principle though, even if impractical. I started watching Exeter in the late 70's and in my view the behaviour patterns have improved 10 fold, and fans really ought to be trusted to be able to behave themselves and have a beer at the same time

As a matter of interest how do you know they have changed the music then ?

The club ran a poll to let fans choose. We had ‘glad all over’ which is clearly a Palace song and fans had been moaning - personally I think goal music should be banned but hey ho. The choice was an XTC song, an Oasis song or a Kasabian song. Clearly as XTC are from Swindon it was a no-brainer

I hope that doesn't catch on, we would probably end up with Coldplay and celebrating to 'Yellow' would be terrible

Just seen Football Focus with an interview with Alan Hardy. How on earth can Notts County be losing 2.5mn a year?

Goal music is pretty embarrassing. My wife is a Norwich fan and they’ve had it there for years - she thinks it’s awful.

Macclesfield at home for us today. Unfortunately I’m on an austerity drive at home so having to pick my games this season and this one has fallen victim. A win here would keep the momentum going nicely.

Looks from the team selection like we're ditching the pretty passing in favour of a more direct style. Hopefully it will bring a more favourable result than on Tuesday but I'm glad I'm not there to see it.

Rovers 2-0 up playing an interesting formation with Larnell Cole behind a front pair. Fairly even game in the early stages and if Crawley get an early goal back could be tricky.

We've gone back to the good old days where we were shit. Cannot see us creating any chances let alone scoring any today based on that first half.

5-1.

Should have been 10 but we were wasteful in front of goal, switched off for 5 mins after our 5th which was the only time Crawley got a kick.

Worst team we’ve played all season.

We probably deserved a draw, but for what looked like a goalkeeping error gave. Unfortunately it was another game where we've underperformed. Team looks very disjointed and for the most part we created very little (same for Colchester). Unbelievably despite our recent form we're still top, everyone seems to be trying their hardest to not get promoted (apart from Tranmere). Hoping this is a blip rather than we've been overperfoming up until a couple of weeks ago. We seem to struggle when we don't get a full weeks rest in between games.
