GG is the match reporter for Blackpool in their local rag and before that on the GET, so was an imp behind enemy lines then.

Statement from the club:

"Yeovil Town Football Club wishes to issue an update on the status of a proposed takeover, which was reported last month.

An agreement has been reached between the club’s current ownership and Feliciana EFL Limited, headed by Rob Couhig, subject to EFL approval.

The YTFC Board is pleased to be advancing and both parties anticipate completion within the next month. "

Fantastic news however I fear it's all too late to rescue this season.

Rob Couhig will be Chairman and Mark Palmer CEO. They have big plans for the club on and off the pitch (music to my ears), HOWEVER...they have both publically backed Darren Way and believe he is the person to turn the team's fortunes around (a sort of screeching noise like fingernails on a blackboard)

It is somewhat reassuring for it to go public and to put a name and face to the investor. He's got some history in sport ownership with minor league baseball and football in New Orleans, although the football team was ultimately unsuccessful. Also ran for public office a few times twice for mayor of New Orleans and twice for congress. So he seems to have the money to make a difference, but still can't understand why he wants to invest in Yeovil.

He has stated that he wants to bring in another person to help run the club, which sounds like he wants to bring in a DoF. And that he will continue to invest even if we get relegated, which is nice but ultimately its all talk at the moment. Its certainly going to be an interesting few months.

He says he's going to make it the most exciting experience in English football. Does this spell the end for the temporary beer tent?

I'm envisioning fireworks, marching bands and cheerleaders, possibly even the return of Viva Pitch?

I really hope i'm wrong but i'm starting to get a bad feeling about this. 5 years down the line we might be regretting it.

I would be quivering with fear if yanks were involved with Swindon. Their sporting 'experience' is completely different to ours and a lot of them just do not get it.

Kick razzmatazz out of football!

I expect cheerleaders, a marching band before the match and Beyonce at half time.

Does he have any links to Yeovil or the people already involved with the club?

No offence, but why else would you want to invest? It's very random.

That's a question we've all been asking ourselves as he has no connection to the town.

The link is a guy called Mark Palmer. He was originally brought in by the current board a year or so back as a 'consultant' to look at ways to move the club forward. It's become evident that way is to sell it to someone else. He found Rob Couhig whilst looking for potential investors/new owners. Couhig looked at other English clubs (he hasn't said which) a few years ago but says none of them felt right. He feels Yeovil is the right fit and at the right time.

Couhig will be the new Chairman and owner and Palmer the new CEO.

This is certainly encouraging if he means it:

What Are His Views On Matchday Experience?

"The place will be friendly; it will be clean. The food will be spectacular. The beer will be cold. The cider will be flowing. The sponsors will be thanked. The kids will get something when they walk in. Your wife will be delighted that you're going to the game, because you're going to go with her. It's going to be a bright friendly place, and there's going to be a lot of entertainment and everyone is going to have a good time at the game, regardless of the result."

..and a 5-7 year plan:

What Are His Ambitions For The Club?

"That's a reasonable question. I think that in the next five to seven years, there's certainly no reason why we shouldn't be be a high League One side in the table, knocking on the door for the Championship."

I really hope it works out for Yeovil as you’ve suffered a hell of a lot yourselves the last few years. I’m always wary though when I hear about these 5 year plans. Smurthwaite had one once to get us into the Championship, somewhat behind schedule it’s safe to say.

At least it's a realistic 5 year plan, every club in lge 2 should have the goal of reaching top half lge 1 in 5-7 years!

Yeah we've had an endless trawl through 5 year plans over the years. They're just a stalling tactic to try to buy more time. Hopefully this one is realistic.

Crawley away for us tomorrow. Could really do with a win to set us up for the next set of difficult games we've got coming up.

I don’t even know why that line is funny. I think it’s pulled from a 1950s public information film.

We were in L1 then too... he said he had enough to get us out of that league and he certainly managed that!

That statement worries me a little and I'm not even a Yeovil fan. If I were a Yeovil fan, or anyone even vaguely involved in the club, I would be more worried about keeping them in the Football League. Leave all the nice stuff for later, even if this paragraph sounds a little on the creepy side...although making the place clean and friendly is a pretty decent ambition for any football club, many are anything but.

Originally the takeover was dependent on us not getting relegated, however he's now said that's been changed. To me that says he's being realistic and knows it'll probably happen.

That is of course a good thing, assuming that it goes ahead. Take-overs are odd things, my first question is always what is the motive of the person/people putting the money in. We have of course been subject to a take-over in recent years, which is well documented, and I would definitely count myself in the worried camp when it happened as I wasn't sure what Dale Vince's motive really was. Several years down the road and he is still here, his involvement probably saved the club, it is fairly obvious what he is trying to do. I hope the same thing applies for Yeovil.

Play the hopeless crap and lack of effort we’ve put in the last 2 games and FG will win by 2 or 3.

Time to stand up and be counted

I believe in the adage that there is a good and bad time to play a side. On that basis we play you at good point perhaps. Understandable you feel that way. Although we came back from two defeats last Saturday and the world looks a brighter place. We found a way to turn possession into goals against Yeovil! but would be surprised to see us repeat that formation away from home. I think the pressure is off a little bit so another reason to be optimistic. I think your guys will have had a bit of a rocket this week so interesting to see which side turns-up for both of us.

Which in itself is nuts.

'Hmm, we're in deep shit here. We've just taken over and can't sign any players. What single change can we make that might just give us that small boost needed to avoid relegation?'

Feels like the answer is right there in front of them.

The new owner bankrolled some of the January transfers but can't make any direct personnel changes until the takeover is complete, which could take another 3 weeks.

If I was Cambridge i'd be attacking down the wings at every opportunity today. We've got a winger at right back and at left back an 18 yo who has played a total of one Checkatrade game in his senior career.

We've got 7 injured and 1 suspended but (on paper) it looks like the kind of 11 (only 6 on a very thin bench) that could have you on toast at the Abbey. Unfortunately we're playing in deepest South Somerset.

We're giving it a go up front, with Amoo and Lambe providing ammunition for Jabo and poacher Jones. Just hoping for not too many bloopers at the back.

2-3 or 0-0, who knows?
