Totally over the top on this ban though, a bloke threatened to break his legs on twitter and was being mouthy and he just said he looked like Sloth... hardly worth a ban and four figure fine that!

In itself sure it’s not the worst thing but why respond at all. He seems not to care about the image of the club which like it or not he’s a representative of. The club have worked extremely hard to improve a very damaged reputation and Pope with his “I’ll tweet what I like” attitude is not helping.

At the point now if he gets done again I’d seriously look at parting ways with him.

Seems he has stayed off it since the Man City game so hopefully that's puts that to bed but if it keeps on happening we will have to look at it because we can't afford a highly paid striker to be banned possibly for 7 or more games season even if he is past his peak.

No idea why he feels the need, I know he said he likes the engagement and banter with fans and thinks it is part and parcel but the FA are clearly hammering down on it all now. Assume this will all be a prelude to give the FA the excuse to throw the book at him for the Rothchilds one.

Tbf, I’d probably be sacked if I started abusing anyone on Twitter whilst who my employer is was in the public domain. I think footballers get let off lightly when it comes to unprofessionalism. It’s a laugh how we as fans can say what we want but when players react they’re the scum of the earth but every footballer including Pope knows the deal.

I think he's been a victim of his own publicity with the Stones tweet months ago and he and his twitter has been massively in the spotlight which hasn't helped and he probably has got carried away with his "Fame".

He needs to stick off it now, its a shame really because we should be lauding his entry into Vale folklore, one of our own fans breaking the legendary Martin Foyle's post war goal scoring record at the Etihad and hes let himself down.

Whilst I don't think hes anti-Semitic nor meant it to be that, and I do think he has been very harshly treated on this one, his two previous incidents were out of order... things maybe fans say but certainly not players!

Pretty dull game, but at least we won. The balance did not feel right, and while a few players played okay in parts, not one really played well consistently.

First time in the new Grandstand which was interesting. Sat next to Luggy at lunch which was even more interesting.

Felt the red should have been a yellow, but we’ll never overturn it.

Thought the away support were fairly good, with some witty banter/chants.

Can anyone else at Home Park explain why the sniper only seemed to be hitting Newport players? First time I have ever seen a football team who obviously have drama classes.

A very convincing win for us in the end, not walked out of a game and felt that comfortable for a while.

Took our chances and defended well in very windy conditions, having said that Stevenage have very, very little cutting edge up front - Couldn't believe that team stuck 4 past Cambridge only a few weeks ago.

Unless Westley can mold a team out of the 5 players he brought in on deadline day then Stevenage will almost certainly go because I saw very little to convince me otherwise on Saturday that they can turn this around. Typical Westley side as well, long balls and gamesmenship at every chance.

Great to see Young Ruel Soitirou taking his chance in the team, I personally didn't think he'd make the grade so to see him netting 5 goals in 4 weeks is superb to see.

First one of our new investors as part of our long awaited £1.75 million takeover was announced today. Former Nantwich Town chairman Tony Davison (a former manager of an international company) was revealed as one of our four new mystery investors who has pledged £250,000 to the club to facilitate the removal of Norman Hassall, who has been ruining our potential for years and caused us to regress as a football club from mid-table in the Championship to bottom half of League Two in a decade and a half.

My guesses are two of the other three investors will be Mark Price (sponsored a stand years ago and is James Jones very rich Uncle) and Stewart Whitby (Who owns Whitby Morrison Ice Cream Van Manufacturers). I'm unsure who the third will be but all will be revealed by the end of the working week. I also expect John Bowler to step down as well in the coming days and allow Charles Grant to become our new Chairman.

Very exciting to see where we go from here in the future. I'm not expecting us to throw daft fees all over the shop. But I think a solid year of player sales this Summer could see more funds reinvested into the first team as opposed to past years where we've scraped the barrel for signings. All whilst maintaining the philosophy and ethos of the club that's serving us well again since its re-implementation under Dave Artell.

In side news next season after 23 years you will finally see the ground looking complete... in saying that essentially the Robbie Williams concert requires seating in the empty half of the Lorne Street stand for H&S... as it’s a concert it just needs a tunnel to exit so the concourse will be the only bit left to do which will cost £100k so the seats won’t be occupied for football.

However fans have lobbied to try and raise the 100 grand to finally get the thing done and eradicate the monument to the past 20 years of failed regimes in charge of the club and decline from our glorious 1990s.

Can’t be many building projects that have taken that long! Of course it was not entirely down to the club over estimating but during construction loads of mine shafts were discovered I believe which rocketed the cost... was a stat once that Notts County did their whole ground for less than the cost of the Lorne Street!

Not to mention if say next year we get Man City at home those extra seats would come in more than handy.

Just made the mistake of reading the thread about this on OVF. Some of the reasons people are giving for not being keen on it are mind-blowing ranging from hating it when playing Champ Manager the board would increase stadium capacity to the seats would fade. Am lost for words in all honesty.

Some real strange reasoning for not wanting us to do it on there!

Time will never be ideal for it but it needs completing sooner or later and what a way to welcome the new era by eradicating a testament to the dark times.
