Barrow's Quigley is out of his depth in this division.

You're not that ex-copper on Twitter who can't help himself any time Radio Cumbria mentions Barrow? He's a proper c***.

No I'm not, but my point is true though.

Quigley is really a conference player.

How the fuck does Krystian Pearce STILL not have a club at this level? Absolute madness.

Think we all knew the minute the first went in more would come in. Feel sorry for the lads, don't really deserve to be 2-0 now.

Floodgates have opened now

Mansfield, Southend, Bradford, Port Vale fans - talk to me about Will Atkinson? Whats he like?

Did a respectable job for us when he joined us last season. Main position these days is central midfield but can also do a decent enough job filling in at right back which he had to a couple of times. Be a good signing I'd say.

Atkinson is a good utility man, able to play a number of positions and do a solid enough job. Got us a last minute winner at Bradford too. I liked him.

Rumours circulating today that Ron Martin told a Southend supporters group that he doesn't have the money to pay the HMRC debt ahead of the hearing on Wednesday and he's blaming the lack of a Covid bailout.

He's also released another bizarre statement ahead of the hearing.

Does he ever release statements that anything but bizarre?

So after 9 matches the table is starting to take shape a bit more with who will likely be in the top 7 and bottom 2.

Id say the only real shock so far is Newport making a flying start being top and of course Bolton and Salford both being nowhere near as good as many predicted.

Got to say though I'd rather Mansfield go down with Southend than Scunthorpe because Mansfield are a fuck up of a club and I'm sick of their whining fans on here.

Didn't Newport start really strong two or three years ago but fell away badly?

In fairness to Flynn we've made good starts to each of the seasons he's been in charge. League results noticeably tailed off during the FA Cup runs in 17/18 and 18/19 although we did finish the league like a train in 18/19 to reach the play-offs final v Tranmere.
For those that have played us so far this season will note that we are having a go at this tippy-tappy shit from the back, which is working. Pitch at RP is still in decent nick however this will soon change to the usual muddy shit tip in the next month or so. Having said that it looks like for the majority of this season only the Dragons rugby will be using Dave as Newport RFC's season is unlikely to start much before March at the earliest due to Covid. But the Cardiff Blues are using Dave up until Xmas as their plastic pitch is being relaid after being wrecked by the Covid field hospital at the Principality.
Only a matter of time before Flynn gets linked with a job further up the pyramid IMHO.

There has been a few surprises so far, Carlisle and Cambridge the main ones from a top end point of view, Newport always seem to be fast starters but do seem to be playing very well and putting teams to the sword. Morecambe seem to have dropped back to normal expectation now.

Not surprised Bolton have struggled, I said pre season they would start slow as a huge overhaul there and a losing culture and still back that they will improve as the season progresses, if they will have enough for top 7 and turn it around in enough time we will have to see.

8/9 games it is still a form table to a degree and may see some weird results if teams lose players to Covid etc.

We have played 8 teams top half 1 bottom, thought Cheltenham and Cambridge were very good, Salford pretty much the same as last season, not much punch but ok on the ball and fairly solid, Crawley ok in patches but struggled with pace, Exeter solid but lacked a bit going forward, Morecambe poor but solid, Carlisle far improved from last season, Harrogate were very fit and decent but lacked fire power and Oldham absolutely awful. This is based all on one game though!

I thought Mansfield would be better this season and Tranmere would produce more but otherwise most that i expected to struggle are doing so.

I cant make up my mind if this is a great idea, bloody stupid, just shows up the stupidity of our lawmakers or the way forward.

Crawley are showing the ifollow stream of our game with Cambridge on Saturday live in the club bar at the stadium.

While we cannot get into the stadium to watch live we will be behind the south stand (Structured Communication, home terrace) watching on the big screen tvs.

Not allowed to congregate in the stadium for our own safety but allowed to congregate in a bar, at the stadium cos that's safe innit!

Sure i saw at Fleetwood they actually have a bar with a pitch view and had fans watching the game in the bar on TV but had to close the curtains so they couldn't see the pitch.

Crazy!

Didn't Norwich do this last week.

I'm surprised more clubs aren't doing it to show how pathetic the rules are.

We've had a good start, but we often do that and then go off the rails for a bit, before changing things up a lot and eventually getting a bit of form back for the run in. Worked ok a couple of years back when we recovered and made the play offs but last year we fell way off the pace from start of December onwards and it looked a big ask to get back in it even if we did look like we might have turned the corner just before lock down.

On paper we don't look as good as 2 years ago, don't think we have anyone as good as the likes of Shephard, Mills, Brown and Doidge were tbh. But on the other hand we have a bit more experience in the side then last year and the league looks a bit weaker, so who knows.

Think top 7 is doable, but doubt we'll finish above the likes of Vale, Salford or yourselves come the end of the season.

That is very generous of your club burger and a beer thrown in and the game for a fiver.

We did it Tuesday against Bradford.....was £25 for a meal and the match

Pre Ecotricity they used to give our free sausages and chips in our bar that were left over to anyone staying after games to help tidy the ground and watch the late kick offs.

These days you gotta pay good money to have a cardboard cutout of yourself at the game that the club then forgets to put out.

As much as I would love us to win every game and be pulling away, I don't mind the likes of Newport and Cambridge doing that right now because they can be the ones who peak too early.

As long as we consistently get points and keep within touching distance of the front runners then I won't mind us leaving our peak form until just after the halfway point.

I don't want us to be that team who drops off second half of the season.
