Not sure Bidston Moss would qualify for motorway junction. Its between Birkenhead and Wallasey about 5 minutes walk from a railway station. Admittedly the area is sparse for alehouses unless you want to risk The Bidston but Liscard isnt that far. I live there and its about 15 minutes and all downhill getting there.

I’m not sold.

It will happen. Mark Palios doesnt think there is good value in redeveloping Prenton Park and The Santini Group will have a big say in it.
Economically it’s a no brainer and allows us much more growth potential than being at Prenton Park.

It's complicated.

As an away fan the thing I don't like about Crawley's ground is the lack of height - it's really a challenge sometimes to see what's happening at the opposite end of the pitch from the away terrace behind the goal. Great that it is standing, of course (even if most grounds effectively allow our away fans, at least, to stand, in the allocated seating areas)! The location is basically fine, with a decent pub en route between the ground and the town centre if you don't fancy the ones there. And it is head and shoulders better than Stevenage, which has a similar location - well, off a roundabout on a main road a bit of a walk from the railway station.

Obviously Exeter is as first rate an away day (and in part because of the warm welcome given to away fans within the - excellent - bars in the stadium) as FGR is almost certainly not. (And I really don't love the away stand at SJP, still)

But basically I agree with both arguments - style of building and location both come into it. Somewhere like Colchester scores zero points on either count.

The Indonesians are heavily involved in the leisure industry. They have interests in some of the best hotels in Bali so they will not let anything they get involved in be 2nd rate.

It is ok for people like you who are normal and can drive to the game. Think about poor Craig who will get lost if he goes outside Prenton.

After all Rob i mean Craig is your main man

I guess you don't do many away games then?

Location is everything.
Good stadiums should have at least a couple of good boozers nearby or even better be in the middle of a town with loads of food/drink/late night options.
Point taken about the pubs.

And I dont get to as many away games as I used to. I started working shifts and it does get in the way. Not only when I'm working but having family time at weekends versus a football game can sometimes be a straight choice too.

What's wrong with our away stand, out of interest? There's always the option of going in the seats for a few extra quid.

It's not dreadful, just that the stepped terraces are a bit shallow and the whole structure could do with a bit more height. With the size of crowd we typically take it's not a problem, but I imagine sightlines could get blocked pretty easily with it's closer to full. Really it's not that different from our north and south stands. But our ground is obviously no more than a modern National League One .. Basically it's ok...maybe just Big Bank envy speaking.... It is better than Crawley though, which I made a similar observation about.

My view is that standing behind a goal is usually the best place to be, so I'd not fancy the seats at the side.

Our away end is still undeniably pokey. But at least it's got a roof these days which helps with the atmosphere and the rake is marginally better than it used to be.

I remember watching 1000 Leeds fans get absolutely drowned once from the comfort of the big bank. The rain was torrential for the entire 90 minutes, on an absolutely freezing January day, the stand was packed so people were struggling to see and we beat them 2-0.

I nearly felt sorry for them, but it's Leeds so "meh". I imagine some of the blokes who attended that day are still mentally traumatised.

SJP definitely one of the best away trips.

Best was when that game was called off at half-time for waterlogged pitch about three years back. Burger bar in the away end just gave out the food FOC. My lad looked like he had won the lottery - must have had about three hot dogs.

That and Colchester are the only league two grounds I haven’t been to. Hoping I still have that problem next season too..

Have you been to The Hive? If you have you’ve probably been in Exeter’s away end, even if you haven’t been to Exeter.

No we will be in the championship !!
I admire your confidence:
Bolton 10th in table with 39 pts although 4th in current form table with 13 points.
One massive uphill struggle to achieve promotion this season, perhaps next though !
