The thing about Nottingham is that if you can get to Notts, you can get to Forest, there's no barrier whatsoever. In the short term though their recent success has probably benefitted us a bit, as it's hard to get tickets at Forest so more people are coming to watch us to get to a game.

In other news, Salford have decided to move their home game against Notts to "trial a new start time". At least in the Vanarama they knew how to treat tinpot nonsense like that.

Oddly we’ve benefited from it to a degree as well, there’s a number of forest fans from mansfield who can’t get in now at forest who’ve always had an interest in us who’ve jumped on board, helping push STs towards 5,500

I believe we ask not to be on a the same time as forest but of course now they’re PL more games get moved here there and everywhere.

I always assumed County were the team for the football hipsters and Forest were for the plastics.

I'd definitely want to be a County fan if I was from Nottingham.

It’s a strange one as there isn’t any bite between any of the nottinghamshire clubs, i’ve got good mates who follow both and there’s never been anything between them - forest look at county a bit like we would someone like alfreton.

Forest have derby and leicester and mansfield have chesterfield and lincoln (actually not really sure who county’s genuine rivals are?)

I wouldn't say Forest are plastics, got one of the loudest home supports around. City Ground is quite often absolutely bouncing.

I've always thought Notts' lack of rivals was partly to do with them being too nice. It always surprises me that there isn't more of a thing with Mansfield/Chesterfield. While it's commendable in a way and fixtures against Notts are something I always look forward to I personally wouldn't want that every week.

On a table of average miles fans have to travel to watch away games, Mansfield have the shortest average of 106 miles.

Shows how geographically skewed L2 is.

Lincoln? Where you pulled that out from, might aswell add Donny, Grimsby etc etc I don’t understand.

Notts County are just in a position where Forest don’t care for obvious reasons, and our only proper rivals are Chesterfield so they are in rival limbo, definitely got quite a lot of Mansfield haters in their ranks mind.

Well they aren’t really, but we’ve had more with them in recent years than anyone else.

I prefer the “soft” rivalry we have with county, it means the days more enjoyable you can go the game and enjoy beers beforehand rather than the chaos when we play that lot across the road.

Only thing I’ve ever noticed between Lincoln and Mansfield was a bunch of their weirdo newly found fans on twitter obsessed with us because we kept pricing them out of players.

Some go to both. Forest tend to be condescending until we beat them and personally I see Forest as our direct rivals and can't stand them. Always want them to lose and can't quite give up on the hope that one day we'll be in a division higher than them.
Stags, Chesterfield, Derby and Leicester are all derbies but Forest is the big one.
Well i lived in nottingham for nearly 40 years notts have always been second best in popularity forest were always the big boys in the city and suburbs ,it was great when forest were really the best team in the country all my mates were forest fans and i could still give them stick even though we were crap at the time but nutts fans seem an odd lot to me they really only had the history thing to brag about and they really were a bunch of mardy buggers thats why i revelled in their demise so much

I've certainly come to dislike Chesterfield more in the last couple of years, mostly due to them being a promotion rival in that time but they've also had a recent crop of incredibly unlikeable players. But the answer to why there's not anything more is because they have each other, basically.

Nowt likeable about our non-league neighbours, I believe some dodgey financial stuff in recent years too? Cannot say I’ve kept up well since they got relegated, which we played a nice part thanks to a Mal Benning goal :D

They are a byword on the NL forum. To be fair there are a couple who are decent, but all the real weirdos (apart from one Halifax and one Woking fan) are from Chesterfield.

Once their season tanks the oddbods disappear for a few months though so you know you only have to put up with them for a little bit.

OneDecentLester loves his pre seasons. Gets giddy every time, and then as you say disappears once they inevitably lose a few games.

The Chesterfield lot are sound on there generally I find. BitesYourNoseOff was absolutely unhinged though, was probably the right decision to get rid of him.

Remember the Notts County fan that convinced a lot of people in the non-league section that Radford was going to cut off funding the club and leave us in the shit and he knew him personally?

Quite a few names on here now were guilty of falling for that weirdo.

You’ve just made me look up what’s happened to James Rowe - sex assault trial this December.

Fylde are the only rivalry I’ve indulged in as a Barrow fan. They’ve only got about 10 fans under the age of about 70, but it was the scummy chairman, the Farage worshipping, the appointing sex offenders left, right and centre, Danny Rowe (the knobhead one), the chucking cash at players we could only dream of, everything about them is horrendous.

We only ever beat them once, but we pipped them to promotion in Conference North and when we got promoted to L2, they got relegated. Lovely stuff. Will probably resume this rivalry when they buy their way to promotion next year.

2024!

Might need someone else to clarify this but pretty sure he sent unsolicited dick pics to a female member of staff, or at least that was the rumour. This was when Chesterfield were top of the league and flying too. Rowe got sacked and Tshimanga, who was the stand out player in the division at the time, suffered a season long injury within quite a close period of time. Went from title challengers to scrapping for that last playoff spot. Never a dull moment at Chesterfield. They beat us 2-1 at BP in November/December which was a top of the table clash at the time, really looked like the real deal. We went away there in Marchish time and pulled them apart with ease, shadow of a team from before that Rowe saga.

Who was the Mansfield fan (I think) who had Radford in his username on here years ago? I want to say he had Jim in his name, I think he said he posted on Stagsnet. Or is that the same guy?

The rumour was that he got a massage from the female physio after a match and you can guess the rest.

I think if getting you right luke there was a poster who pretended he was radford rather than have his name.

Can’t remember who though, which isn’t overly useful hah

We’ve got loads of sort of rivals but no absolute banker of one like a Mansfield/Chesterfield. So it just sort of changes depending on which league we’re in. I’m quite happy with it, away games to Grimsby/Ches/Lincoln/Stags are enough of a hassle with the police and not being able to do anything as it is.

There’s a few other clubs in a similar spot really. I’m from Leicester and they’re one, them and Coventry really do need to just accept they’re each others’ rivals and move on.
