Shambles from the Alex today, workrate, cohesion, decision making, everything was bad. Fair play to Coventry, they were the better team, other than the goal they didn't give us much of a sniff and they took their chances.

We've got massive pressure on us now on Tuesday. Really need to win that game, draw wouldn't be a disaster, but it feels like a must win.

Are you still our bogey side because I'm sure this is the second time we've beat you since the wheel was invented.

Good comeback and a stunner to level it. Stevenage scored their only two chances and we blew chance after chance before getting the goals.

Decent point with other results but for the third time this week we’ve had enough chances and been the better side and not won! Drawing our way to safety!

Great for Wilson and Hannant to get their first EFL goals too.

Weather was atrocious! I assumed the antics we’d seen from Stevenage sides of the past was purely a Westley thing but they did them all again today... don’t know how we only got 7 minutes injury time the amount of times their number 5 was down!

Bud, we've played you at Gresty Road 5 times in the last 6 years and you've won 4 of them(2-0 in the JPT, 2-1 with Callum Wilson scoring both, 5-0 with an Armstrong hat-trick and now 2-1 again). Then at the Ricoh, you've won your last 2. A few years ago, we had a good record against you, but in the last few seasons, it's turned on its head and you now beat us regularly. But then, so does everyone else.....

We’ve got a few bogie teams. In recent years it’s Luton - we’ve won one out of the last 18 league games or something ludicrous. We have beaten them in two important cup games but the league record is atrocious.

We’ve also got terrible records against Wrexham and Kidderminster (though we did beat the latter when we came up) which goes back about 50 years.

Another late goal conceded for us but a vital point potentially even if it felt like 2 dropped at full time. Going to be close I think this

I didn't think Chesterfield were too bad today, if anything they were too nice. They had no nastiness to them at all, no bastard in the middle of the park.

They also appeared to lack any threat up top - Dennis took his goal well but his airshot in the first half sums up the luck for a team at the bottom.

If they play like they did against us for the rest of the season, they've got a chance of getting out of the relegation zone.

I know we are dreadful but Stevenage sacking their manager because they couldn't beat us seems a bit harsh :bl:

A win for The Alex against The Vegans will go a long way to ensuring we pull clear of the bottom two on Tuesday and with Vale failing to beat Exeter on the same night things will start to look ominous for their whereabouts next season.

Hardly. We will still be 7 plus goal difference clear. The next two games won’t decide our fate. Very winnable games against Chestfield and Crewe over Easter will be key.

God i didn't think it was that good, so you have not been our bogey side for many years. I just have it in my head we always lose to Crewe, I think that JPT semi-final debacle is still haunting me.
I must look into who our new bogey side is, we have lost twice this season to the Vegans, but obviously no playing history to fall back on.
I will get back to you, its rather sad you lot are not that side anymore

Thats rubbish. Even just a point against an out of sorts Exeter will leave us well placed.

Difficult to see how your side will leave sunny South Cheshire with anything other than a defeat so you better pray Chesterfield don't put a run together.

Yeah mega difficult considering we are above you currently and despite our winless run are not particularly losing games. Playing better away too.

A very surprising win away at Col U for us. All Darren Way kept banging on about afterwards though was the fact he drove Stuart Nelson's car from Yeovil to Colchester so Nelson could visit some friends in Essex. Way said he was knackered. I'm sick of him always making every conversation about him, it's all me me me.

So Jake Jervis has been with us since deadline day.

So far, he's cost us £18,000 per shot on goal; none of which have been in his last 4 appearances. Not one has been on target.

Signing of the year.

He hasnt really had a run in the side and it must be tough coming into a side in January, but he looks lost every time I have seen him. Just doesnt look like he knows what he is doing out there.

I hope he turns it around because he must have some talent in there, but he just doesnt seem to fit at the moment.

He does come across like he's a bit full of himself, doesn't he?

I thought we were okay at times, though i'd had a bit to drink so likely we still weren't great. Missed a sitter first half and a couple good chances but then again so did Cheltenham so could have gone either way.
Enjoyable day out though, definitely one of the better performances on the road. Fans and players a like seemed more up for it then in recent weeks which was good to see.

Chesterfield clearly wanted it - and that's very much a positive sign. There was no-one there though to really grab the game by the horns for them.

Dennis' airshot in the first-half was both hilarious but also soul destroying for him, credit to him for the way he took his goal in the second half with a brilliant touch and finish.

It's hard to properly judge when teams play against us though because we're so hit and miss (such a mid-table team) that we can be brilliant for 10 mins then dog-shit for 10 mins.

That's very much how they looked when we played them the other week too. Both them and Barnet seem to be showing more promise than Grimsby but the season is drawing to a close and they're running out of time to find out how to turn those positives into points.

Well, from our perspective you made a great signing.

Where are you playing him? I just got the sense that he liked the way we played when he was out wide right. If you look at his career joining us he did not score many, and when we had to play him in a traditional number 9 target man role earlier this year he was out of sorts. I liked Jake, I just suspect a manager has to work out how to get the best out of him.

Chesterfield played brilliantly against us at field mill in November, derby yes, but they didn't just lump it and got lucky, they were largely the better side, the problem is when you're down there is much like against Cheltenham they couldn't hold out when maybe their play suggested they could.

They should get something against county at the weekend.

He has played wide and through the middle and looked poor in each

That and the Luton game is probably the best we've played all season. By no means is it the norm. Have a feeling we may get something Sunday though, we'll certainly have the pressure on us playing a day later than everyone else

Rather hoping for three away wins this evening, half-time gives one draw, one home win and one away win. Plenty of time for it all the change, but we at Grimsby are clutching at shaddows of straws now.

If however tonight's results stay the same I would like Crewe to score another five, we would then overtake FGR on goal difference.
