I didn't realise that after our game v Cheltenham, where the referee made one of the worst decisions I've seen this season, whereby he gave a penalty just as the Luton player stuck it in the back of the net, he didn't get dropped. He got promoted to a game in League One!

Proof if there ever was one that referees are untouchable and that it needs an entire overhaul of the whole system.

Imagine the quality of official at this level should VAR come in and the better refs at this level are promoted to higher divisions. Similar to how when Select Group 2 was brought in, the standard dropped then.
Don't Leagues One and Two use the same referee pool anyway?

Anyway, remember the Champions League final between Barcelona and Arsenal. The referee blew his whistle for a penalty to Barcelona just as they stuck it in the back of the net, and then sent off Jens Lehmann for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, something both managers disagreed with after Manuel Almunia came on and saved the penalty (Barcelona would rather have gone 1-0 up, Arsenal would rather have kept eleven men on the pitch). These sorts of things can happen at any level.

Yes they do. But to promote a referee up a level is virtually just that; it’s not exactly sending the right message that bad decisions are punishable.

It's Alex Wooyard's 100th game for us today, which to do in only 75% of the way through his second season is crazy.

Played 57 of our 61 games last season (rested for 3 FA Trophy games along with other first teamers and the midweek match at Maidstone after our title win) and I think he's played every game this season as well. Given his style of play coupled with the amount of work he gets through, it's quite incredible that he seemingly picks up no injuries or gets suspended.

Our season tickets for next season went on sale yesterday.

Cheapest for an adult in the Oak Road end of £295 in League One or £270 in League Two. All other areas up to £365 / £350 depending on division for an adult, if bought before the end of March. If bought up to 1st June this goes up to £415 / £370 and after that £445 / £410. U16s remain at £80 or U10 £50 regardless of division.

Interesting. How do they do that then? Do you pay the L2 figure and then they ask for more if you get to L1, or do you pay L1 prices and get a refund if L2?

Last season it was a commitment to pay the difference if we got to L1. This year, it is the L1 price with a refund if we fail to get to L2.

It makes some sense, but I found it a bit distasteful up against the rest of the division.

Important announcement from Luton's ticket office on twitter -

Luton fans, please disregard all references to League I football regarding season ticket sales. All fans that have purchased a ST this morning will get a refund asap. We would like to apologise for giving our fans false hope of going up this year.

Just read following on Facebook: "Cheltenham Town Football Club is very disappointed to learn of alleged homophobic comments by a small number of individuals during the match away at Swindon Town."
What's that all about?

Allegedly some of our fans chanting homophobic comments towards some of our own fans during the game. Seen people saying it was only one person although the article states individuals plural so not really sure at this point. Very sad to see and certainly overshadows what was probably our best performance of the season. Hopefully the individual(s) will be found out and banned for life.

Definitely sounds like it was only one or two, it also sounds like it was idiots thinking they were funny rather than anything particularly malicious as well.

Either way, there is no place for it, and I agree I hope they are found out and banned for life. It has soured what appears to have been our best performance of the season by some distance.

Thanks for update and yes I would agree with you that the miscreants have overshadowed an excellent result for Cheltenham.
Fortunately for your club the scenes at West Ham will probably sideline any anti reports from newspaper headlines.

Hey Accy fans, our game at yours on the 24th March has been postponed because we have 5 players out on international duty.
Rearranged for Tuesday 17th April which means we have 6 games in 18 days :brill:

As it stands our run in is against teams in the following positions:

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th. (i.e. every team in the top 9 clubs) Plus Colchester (13th, away) and FGR (19th, home).

Shit.

Having been to Yeovil on a Tuesday night I don't envy away fans doing that journey.
When I heard it was off I assumed that they were in a checkatrade final or something rather than international call ups.

Pugh and Tonge in midfield for Vale again. Do we really have to go the whole season to realise this does not work?

Congrats in advance Barnet.

I'm not sure if this subject has been previously mentioned but is this the first season that Coventry, Luton & Carlisle have been in same division since 1975 when all three clubs were in Division 1 [now Premiership]?

Probably because since that one season up there it did not take long for us to drop way back down into this horrible league.

By the way what made you think of that subject? It's got fuck all to do with Forest 'Vegan Gestapo' Green.

Because we have just played Notts County who were also at one time in top division.
