Coventry well in the driving seat now. Us and Mansfield are busted.

Fucked by Flitcroft both.

He often finds his teams stuck in a poor run and seems incapable of doing anything about it. He got the boot from Bury after losing 11 on the trot. We went 6 without a win before Xmas.
If Coventry go up maybe they'll put up a statue to him.

Or it'll be the worst [whatever you call the part of the world you both share] derby in years as both sides try desperately to lose.

They have to go for the win, a draw for them is no good

The money Mansfield splashed on this team in the Summer if they don't even manage to get in the playoffs it will be the biggest waste of money since Steve Evans signed up for a stint at Weight Watchers.

Pretty much

Not worth a separate thread for U's fans to mutter amongst themselves so....

U's travel to Broadhall Way tomorrow and I've succumbed and got a ticket. That was before I heard that Uche and Jabo (and O'Neil) are likely to be out with injury. Selection headaches include -
  • Not worth starting Amoo if Corr doesn't start, so do we leave both on the bench?
  • Do we start Corr on his zimmer frame and then throw on Leon as emergency striker when he tires or hobbles off?
  • Do we split up the Deegan/Maris partnership in midfield?
  • Is Mingoia back in the reckoning?
  • Is Medy Elito now focussing on his "music" career?
I seem to remember going with no real goal scorer and producing some great performances in the past (at Orient and Morecambe I think). I missed the Luton debacle so, with Waters in the original Williamson role that actually worked, I'd go with:

Forde (or Mitov?)
Halliday, Taylor, Taft, Dunk
Deegan, Lewis
Amoo (or Mingoia?), Brown, Maris
Waters

Subs: Mitov, Legge, Carroll, Davies, Corr, Mingoia, Phillips

Could be one of the lowest away followings that we've taken to Broadhall Way - not much more than 500-600? I'm expecting the usual frustrating performance and defeat, may manage a goal so 1-2.

Surely you should just be building for next season. Play a few youngsters, try something different.
We might even beat you in attendance at BHW this year.

Surprised it's not got a mention, or maybe I just missed it, but congratulations must go to that useless crock of shit Ollie Palmer for winning PFA player of the month for March. Three goals in 108 minutes and all of them from a substitute appearance. Think he is now second leading scorer and is developing a handy knack of scoring vital goals and influencing games from the bench. Well done Ollie, Mansfield could have done with him these last few games eh?

So he plays less than 1 and a quarter matches in the month and gets PotM?

I can't quite believe it myself. But, to be fair to him, he has made a real game changing difference when he's come on in games.
Imagine if he had started every game in the month. Probably a dozen goals and voting closed for player of the season :fl:

As an impact player, I'd rather have him than Rhead. Definitely not the worst striker we've ever had.

He's a weird one, Ollie. Made 50 appearances this season and he's been subbed or come on as a sub in all but 3 of them!

I always rated Palmer whilst he was here, gets slagged off by fans of his other ex clubs but he was quality here, just a shame that it was his air kick that led to Bristol Rovers equaliser in the play off final.

What's up at Morecambe by the way? I know there have been some issues with the ownership of the club but I still thought Bentley, Ellison and co. had the goodwill of the town. But talk of sub-1000 home attendances surprised me as it's not that long ago they were getting 1.5-2k

Rather unusually, they're interviewing Keith Curle pre-match about the line-up and he's detailing his entire match plan as well as what he thinks Morecambe are gonna do.

From what I read on their forum around the time of our game everyone is sick of Bentley's negative tactics. They set up for a draw from the kick off and time waste at every opportunity.

I know the football we play isn't liked by everyone but it's forgiven because we are winning and we do actually try to wine games. If you play negative anti-football and don't even try to win then it's not going to bring the crowds in.

Morecambe will not even attempt to win. They'll time waste from the first kick.

Defensive football, since they moved grounds they've lost the home advantage Christie Park gave them. I think they've never won more than 8 games at home in a season there. Not to mention they play most their games to draw so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they've had the most draws in the top 4 leagues since Bentley took over.

Yeah you only have to look at Wycombe fans' views over the last few seasons to see how much they despise it when things aren't going well.

Full time 1-1. We just don't know how to grind out results, well we just don't have the quality of finishing in the side to take advantage when chances are plentiful, never mind limited but we're certainly not one of those teams who have a bad game and somehow find a way to bundle the ball into the back of the net and hang on to the lead.

Hopefully though that means the board start thinking about next season and stop with this silly notion that it's too early to start looking at contracts.

2-1 defeat at Newport with Chris Hussey allegedly throwing a punch at an away fan.

This shower of players are so clownlike it’s funny. At least our play off chase is all but over.

Chris Lumsdon on BBCRC "We're all disappointed this season to be in 10th place, but if you offered me 10th next season now I'd take it, it's depressing"
