They used to have that rule in football for a year or two - not sure if it was just trialled in the UK or was done worldwide. IFAB, in their infinite wisdom, decided that non-rugby playing countries wouldn't understand it and ditched it.

I remember Beckham complaining when a free-kick got moved closer because it made it harder for him to get the ball over the wall from a shorter distance - it wasn’t a great advantage in the end.

Disagree. Beckham was a one-off.
In those cases which he refers to, the free kick could be converted to a penalty and that is something the defending team would be anxious to avoid.

I don't get much chance these days to attend away games. Old age is a curse :(. But I've been to most EFL2 stadiums and there are six that I would happily attend again: -

Bradford City - always best attended crowd in League 2
Grimsby - the most biased set of supporters in league, always offering ref loud vocal assistance in his decision making. Love it.
Mansfield - needed a police escort away from ground on 1st visit, but afterwards found the home fans were okay.
Notts Co - Always a wonderful experience with the backdrop of their better known local Nottingham team.
Tranmere - Historical stadium built for (unobtained) promotion to top league. Now a bit decrepit but the fantastic statue on street corner makes visit worthwhile.
Wrexham - The one-time Stadium of Wales that still sends shivers down back of away fans.

Of the rest Gillingham & Stockport appear to be decent away trips - I don't know, never been there.

Gillingham is the best away day in the league.

If you ever get into European competition then Chernobyl is the away day you need to wish for as well.

Gary Neville said earlier there was no time wasting in the EFL games he saw last season

Salford were obviously not good at it or victims either ..

“I saw no time wasting at any EFL games last season”

‘So how many games in the EFL did you go to Gary?’

“None, I was too busy doing Sky games with Carragher”

To continue the 10 years of perennial banter club that we are, in short, our Owner 'accidentally' sold 20% of the club to the wives of some close associates but is now denying it happened and is saying he's still the sole owner. North Korea levels of BS once again.

Random question, but does anyone know any good stats sights that display xG stats? Struggling to find some.

Did anything get clarified at the fans forum last night do you know? It's all very well people being Hetty Wainthrop investigates online but in reality we really need people that know about these things to confirm it. The club quickly squashed the Axis liquidation 'issue' and so I'd hope they would come out and clarify this. If indeed there is a transfer of ownership, then given the open and honest mantra, I think a statement to that effect should be forthcoming. The 'accident' comment sounds incredibly naieve in the extreme.

I personally don't know enough about these things so wading in seems a bit unnecessary, but there is a growing amount of 'noise' about things behind the scenes. The owner not appearing at a fans forum that was postponed to allow him to attend did and continues to seem a bit off.

Sadly the opposite happened and Rob Angus double downed on the 'it was an accident' 'companies house is lying ' 'clems lawyers are on it' excuse.

From speaking with people who have dealt with Confirmation Statements before, it is simply impossible for this to be an 'accident' and both Kiely and Parladorio will now be in possession of share certificates and Clem would have had to of authorised it for it to appear like this on Companies House as he was the only one with shares to begin with.

Something is really not adding up and it's opening us up for yet another dispute.

How do you "accidentally" sell 20% of your business?

Is it like losing something down the back of the sofa?

You don’t. Looks like a dodgy way of getting fresh funding into the club from someone who would raise a red flag if it was in their own name. We’ve already got a FA charge to answer on this exact same thing. Stinks.

What on Earth is going on down here?

Just checked the L2 table for the first time this season and only 4 teams have managed more than 1 win out of the 3 games (though I imagine it's likely Swindon would also be on two wins had they played Colchester)... how is that even possible?

Well; since we lost Carlisle, who were always in trouble, the standard of the league has improved tenfold.

Match by match ones, or periodic? Experimental 3-6-1 usually does an xG league table periodically amongst other things.

Turning out to be a bit of a storm in a teacup. Clem needed £2.9m to pay off a debenture due immediately he bought the club, didn’t have the readies to hand, raised the money by selling 2 lots of 10% of the club. Now paid that back. Apart from not communicating this to the fans - after trumpeting his tenure would be transparent - it seems a sensible way of dealing with that particular debt.
