We've got Bury at home Good Friday then Northampton away on Easter Monday. Tough holidays for us but aside from Easter and the final day, we've only got sides in the bottom 8.
Even we beat Northampton away, they were pretty average from what i've heard.

Recent signs of us improving defensively, Morecambe's penalty was the only goal we've conceded in the last 3 games. Only lost once in the last 5 games (2 wins and 2 draws).

Curle for Manager of the month?

Oxford have only won 2 in their last 15 games, so they're there for the taking.

I'm cautiously optimistic about that one, three points would put us above them in the table, potentially 7 clear of relegation although knowing our luck everyone else will win too.

I'd be happy for Oxford to go down. Not a slant against their fans, but more as a result of their stadium, how far away it is from anything and generally Michael Appleton who I really can't stand.

But not Cheltenham :(

Another poolie here!

Seen the post on the poolie bunker, always wondered what happened to thefootballforum - tried to get on a few times for the page not to exist.

Hope we can keep this run up against Cambridge next week. It's not pretty at times but its winning us games which is the most important thing.

As for Mansfield players/staff they didn't cover themselves in glory like, particularly the substitute who lost it and went for H'angus the mascot, then for someone in the crowd before being bundled down the tunnel!

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
~Next week is going to be extremely interesting.

Hartlepool Vs Cambridge
Oxford Vs Carlisle
Mansfield Vs York

The entire map of the relegation battle could of course switch on Saturday, its sides who were dead and buried who have caught up with them looking safe and secure who if they all lost can be just a point or two off the drop.

add in accy with a tough home game and Chelts/Tranmere with must win home gamves vs sides out of form.

for a long while it was 2 from 5 clubs maybe by Sunday it can be 2 from 8-9 clubs and suddenly 50 points does not look safe.

Let's strike a deal Hartlepool, let us win on Saturday and then you can have Ryan Bird back for the remaining 7 games of the season.

According to the Final Prediction Table on FootballWebPages Hartlepool Utd are going to finish bottom with only 4 more points and no wins from their last 8 games. Looking at their games they have some very winnable games. They have the momentum (high in the form table) and the much maligned Ronnie Moore looks like he's working the miracle.

I'm still not really worried about us, can't see cheltenham and tranmere picking up enough points to get to 50.

Would be good to get something at home to York though, would be a little concerned if we lost to them

Anyone but Cheltenham. Hopefully York and Carlisle/Tranmere/Harlepool

At moment I can't see us picking up enough points to get to 40, never mind 50.

I take it that FootballWebPages doesn't take that into account. Hartlepool's main challenge at the moment is what they do after they next lose a game, because it will happen I'm sure of it. Lose at home to Cambridge at the weekend and it might take the wind out of their sails. If other results go their way and they're still one win from getting out of the relegation zone then I image they can pick themselves up, however if Tranmere or Cheltenham win while Hartlepool lose it could be a major knock-back for them. If they do pull themselves out of the relegation zone with a win at the weekend then things will be very different, they're still likely to lose at some point, but as long as they stay out of the relegation zone confidence will be riding high for them.

Pools have had Ryan Bird recalled by Cambridge, wouldn't matter this weekend as they're playing Cambridge, but it suggests the U's are feeling the heat a bit ;)

Not in the slightest bit surprised. Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be for Cambridge had Bird stayed at Hartlepool, helped them avoid relegation and Cambridge find themselves going down?

That's the second club that have done that to them this season after we recalled Bingham from them. Correct move as his goals since returning have got us 6 points instead of the 2 we would have had!

Why are you lot going to chant nasty things at him?

Or are your players going to review the DVD of last Saturday's game and man up and kick him?

The third if you include Boro opting to sell Charlie Wyke to us over loaning him back to Hartlepool.

I was thinking more of a personal thing for Birdy, conflicting emotions..

Last time Oxford went down it was with 49 points , and only got 4 points or so from the last 8 games, I'd be surprised if Oxford Cambridge and Mansfield got dragged into it but you never know

And this is what happens when you've been as badly run as we have over the years. We rely on other clubs charity by sending us their players on loan so it's inevitable that we'd get screwed if they did well. Wyke should've been signed permanently; he wanted to come but we didn't make an offer. We've gone from being a comfortable L1 side to this shite because of absolutely zero investment and crap choice in managers. If Moore had been appointed in October after Cooper went, we'd be mid table for sure.

If we get relegated we've got no one else to blame except our bloody owners.

Talk of Mirfin going back to Scunny too. That would really deflate me.

If you can only offer a draw, you have to take Lanzoni as well.

On the flipside, there are some shite players that we've loaned this season too. Him being one of them

Lanzoni wasn't the worst player I've seen!! tell you what though , looking at how other teams seem to start with a big enough squad, do you not think Pools should copy that idea? perhaps the other 91 teams are on to something !

He wasn't the worst we've ever had but he was pretty crap to be fair.

Can't see us ever having a big squad with IOR, it'll only ever be 16 seniors (half of them on loan) and the rest kids.

That's not what I've been told.

At the time it looked like you were certs for non league next season and he had no intention of leaving Middlesbrough to be playing in the conference next season. That's when we stepped in to sign him on a 2yr deal. At the time Middlesbrough had received an offer from 2 other league 2 clubs (one was Hartlepool) but he chose Carlisle.

Obviously in hindsight it's probably the wrong decision and he probably should have signed for you because it looks like you're going to stay up and we're the ones going to be relegated.

It looks like he didnt fancy rolling up his sleeves and getting stuck in....Bingham and Bird have done us and themselves a massive favour by coming here... No way are Carlisle going down though, look at who you have got compared to York and Tranny...

I'd like nothing better than for us to both be safe by the last game, but we won't. We're shite at home, we pick up the odd result away but it won't be enough. Just promise you won't take the piss out of us when you're safe and we're relegated on the final day, it'll be fucking depressing!
