Every time I view this thread it's the same - Tranmere and Carlisle fans battling over who's worse and leewilson insisting Hartlepool are going to be relegated, shouldn't have bothered clicking the link.

It's disappointing we didn't get the three points today we felt our performance warranted. Not the worst day to have dropped two points by any stretch... would have been a brilliant day to pick up three.

But guess what... away at Oxford next ;) I don't want to jinx it but I don't think I could have hand-picked a better fixture to come at this stage in the season with us 4 points ahead of the relegation zone.

Does anyone remember the most amount of points Hartlepool were behind everyone? I'm sure it was double figures.

The bottom of the table on the 3rd of January

22 Carlisle 24 -16 24
--------------------------------
23 Tranmere 23 -7 22
24 Hartlepool 24 -27 14

So 10 points from safety, think that's the furthest behind they've been this season. That was after a particularly poor run of results.

Amazingly, they've almost tripled their points total since then. Exactly a month ago today they were 8 points from safety.

Cheltenham are the worst side I've seen this season. I didn't think I'd be saying that after watching us against Carlisle and York in consecutive weeks but it's true.

Or maybe we're just brilliant, I'm not sure.

Sorry to the sides down there.

We weren't great, but the ref didn't help either. Hartlepool have done a magic act if they survive and fair play to them.

Sides need to grow a pair down there if they are to survive

Is anyone going to end this Hartlepool winning run? Please, someone!

Brilliant to see Hartlepool continue with the momentum at the moment, it'll surely be the greatest escape if they manage to survive (Or the biggest total inept collapse by everyone else).

Glad to see us finally completely out of the reckoning for this now - something that after the home game against Stevenage just three months ago I didn't think would be possible at this stage of the season! Still, we stuck with the manager and turned it around, so fair play to all involved.

Edit: Fancy Oxford to be dragged further into it in the next couple of weeks, they've middled just above the bottom 3 or 4 all season, might do them some good to be so exposed to it.

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this thread though ;)

Does that include us?

Not scared of you Ronnie... we're slowly pulling ourselves clear... it's very slow business but we've only conceded one suspect penalty now in three games.

This thread has surely reached it's maximum quota of photos of Ronnie Moore now.

Ronnie will never scare me. I new exactly what he would do before he went in. Maybe not THIS well, but I knew he wouldn't go without a fight. It's not Hartlepool that will seal our fate, it's our own pathetic displays against those around us.

Heartbreakingly, we are done for. Lost 7 of the last 8, thumped at home today, 9 players missing for various reasons today and a manager who seems determined to piss off the very few that stayed to accompany me until the final whistle today. 5400ish today - we'll struggle to break 2000 when we go. We are finishing rock bottom.

You're guaranteed 3 points next week. We have a habit of gifting point to those that need them.

It'd definitely be one of them although I think it was Carlisle who had about 4 points in March some years ago and stayed up. That was pretty epic. Maybe my rampant alcoholism has affected my memory but think it was them.

Actually think we will stay up now. If you'd asked me even 8 days ago I'd have said we knackered.

Hi new member here too.. Pools have the momentum at the mo and im confident now we can do it especially as our rivals had wrote us off and now have us to seriously think about.

4 points in March? Surely that isn't possible.

Ah a Pools fan at last. Welcome. Are you confident you can pull of the great escape?
Yes. We've got very winnable games left and the spirit and desire from the players is unbelievable at the minute. We're not the best team you'll ever see but fook me they don't half put shifts in these days.

Having you lot on the last day of the season has certainly turned from a blessing to a curse over the course of the last four weeks. We really have to be safe by then (mind you, you lot might be safe too! could be a dead rubber)

Hopefully we both need a point like we did against Swindon all those years ago to get to the playoffs:bg:

All happy

Ok slight exaggeration but it was probably barely double figures.
was it maybe Barnet or someone... we've had some very low points totals at late stages in seasons and fought back, but we've then gone down. Specifically the year we went down to the conference, we were on great form the second half of the season, but just wasn't enough.
