Well, we seem to be putting our hands up for this award right now, and show no signs of coming out of it.

We simply have to win next week, simple as

With the players we're losing tomorrow and having no time to replace, our relegation will be confirmed by tomorrow night.

Such a shame.

If we lose Dempsey then we're down. Potts is replaceable, and he's been put in all sorts of positions to accommodate him recently when in fact he just hasn't been good enough.

Losing at Carlisle was a bitter blow, like most games of late, we sounded the better side and Carlisle sounded hopelessly poor, so to lose was a real warning for us on how we are going forward.

Its going to be bloody close.

Would be a shame if a normal league club like us went down rather than a conference club on borrowed time, but all go survive on how well they have done
Mansfield are the most conference club in the relegation battle.

I was just thinking that... Accrington are also a glorified Conference team, and Dagenham are verging on that.

Well obviously not

However, we simply don't seem to be able to put theory into practice.

We've got a lot to do to prove people wrong though

We certainly were not the better side

Surprised to see York still down there, or do they plan on doing a repeat of last season?

With all due respect, you are one of the smaller clubs involved at the wrong end. Portsmouth, Us, Carlisle, all within 3 points of you. York and Hartlepool are probably similar sized clubs and Cheltenham aren't much different either. Maybe not the smallest, but I don't see how you can be so confident when there are at least 3 clubs in the fight with, presumably, much better resources. Sorry to say, but York and Mansfield are the two worst sides in terms of ability to come to Prenton Park so far and you are 2nd and 3rd bottom. Hartlepool will over take Mansfield (in my opinion).

If only resources were going to keep you in the league. IMO we will be alright, we will pick our points up at home and continue to be shite away. Also we were pretty shit at your place, but it's one of the few points we have picked up away this season.

I'm not saying they do or they don't - we are hardly flush with money ourselves. However, my point was more to do with the comment regarding it being a 'pity to see a Football League club like Mansfield go down and a glorified Conference club stay up'. It just seemed a bit disrespectful to the other sides down there, most of whom are at least the same sort of club or bigger.

That was me, not Richard. In short what I was saying was that it would be a shame for us to go back down after all the effort and money we put into coming back up - not something like there are smaller clubs, they should go down etc etc

However, ultimately, it's whoever is down there at the end of the season - if we have to be in the relegation zone, i'd much rather be in it now than at the end of the season - Bristol Rovers were in the relegation zone for 20 minutes last season - literally 20 minutes - as it was those 20 minutes were when relegation came calling and their name was up.

I've seen some real dross this season, Tranmere included - am not overly worried about things right now - however, we have to change on how we are regarding taking chances and also folding when we concede an equaliser

Keeping hold of Potts and Dempsey has been a big thing for us. With the new additions I'd expect us to improve, not immediately but in a month or so once the signings settle and stay up.

Last season we weakened our squad in January and we got relegated. This season we've strengthened and kept our best players despite bids from championship clubs.

Mansfield are the most conference club in the relegation battle.

An established league club thats only been out of it for 5 years..... We are not a conference team. The likes of Cambridge, newport, cheltenham, morecambe and Accrington are.

We've started to play some of the nicest football in the league, and ran riot at burton & wycombe. We really shouldn't be in the bottom two with how we've been playing.

Don't know about nicest football in the league. Saturday was just as bad as some of the worst performances under Cox.

Well you cant use that logic and then mention Cheltenham, Accrington and Morecambe. Surely being out of the league for five years doesnt make you an established league club.

As for the football i cant comment as i havent seen you play, although im sure if it was the 'nicest in the league' then you wouldnt be bottom of the form table.

Tad OTT from Wh imo. Yes we're starting to play it on the floor more but we still hoof if need be. There are teams that play much nicer football such Bury and Shrewsbury. All steps in the right direction from us we're just missing the final piece in the puzzle which is the results.

It doesn't matter whether you are established or not, morecambe, accrington and the dog & duck have as much right to be here than anyone else and probably rightfully enjoy seing much, much bigger (not hard) sides go down rather than them.

As long as we finish above 23rd this season I don't care how big we are, what crowds we get or what anyone else thinks of us, that is the sole aim

"Much, much bigger" is probably over doing it since Mansfield are only getting crowds higher than Accy and Dagenham.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
there isn't really any 'league non-league' status to any club, a lot of the reason many clubs became 'established' was because for years they fiddled the voting system amongst themselves wth numerous secret handshakes for 30 plus years to make sure no one hardly ever got into their elite society.

club size of course makes a difference, but not always when some smaller clubs spend big.

although one thing I will never do is just 'assume' become a club is like a non-league cheap outfit they will go down, these clubs like macclesfield in past, Dagenham/Accrington now have a superb knack being able to doggedly put in the hard working unit to dig themselves out of it even with smaller budgets and less ways to improve.

Have you kept your centre back from last year who got an OG? We could do with that luck right now...

Sadly for you Doumbe is no longer with us, although in the run in it must be said he was excellent.

Even Bristol Rovers aren't that big really are they? What they get about 6k a game in a large city and when were they last playing in the 2nd tier?

I think it would be virtually impossible to be as bad at Field Mill as you were last season, that was one of the most inept all round showings I have ever witnessed from a visiting team - and we've been down in the conference for 5 years!

Your run suggests there won't be a repeat though

Agreed, and yet that was not particuarly uncommon away from home in the Aidy Boothroyd reign, fortunately now we have Wilder who understands how to address poor runs.
