Hate to say I told you so but I've always stood by my prediction of Pools and Cheltenham to go down. Sorry Chelts and Poolies.
I agree. Those two to drop. Poor for Pools today given they were a man up for half the game.

I'd imagine the most pessimistic man on his forum's head will have exploded after the last five minutes of that game and subsequent three points. Hellogregory, are you feeling ok mate or are you still certain of this 24th place finish?

Bloody hell even my heart was about to pop. 6 minutes added time, Troy sent off alongside one of their's, they should have a penalty, they hit the bar and then off the line, game ends in the 99th minute. Phew! Could've been 3 or 4 nil to us really though so good that we got the win. 6 points clear now with only 4 to go, I can't see anyone making that up given everyone's form.

Beat Mansfield or we're gone. Since Mansfield have lost 5 in a row, it's nailed on they will win so we're gone. Us and Cheltenham, as I honestly can't see us getting a single point more now. We're sort of trying, we're just not very good.

What a nervy finish. We were the better side all game and created several good chances. Typically, we sit 10 men behind the ball for the last 10mins, and it very nearly cost us.

The 'brawl' was quite comical, but Troy will have to miss a couple games now. It was worth it.

A good block/save on the line and the crossbar saved us in the end.

We deserved the 3 points, and things look a lot better for us with everyone else losing. Should stay up now.

9 points, 4 games to go, be nice to seal it Tuesday with a win at home to Morecambe.

Admittedly, we're now in with a chance of staying up. We've had a huge slice of luck with other teams fucking up over the last few games.

I am now writing off bottom place, there's no way we're finishing bottom.

However some people think we're safe.... Well we've lost our best defender for 3 possibly 4 games. I expect we'll lose the next 3 by about -10 goals. It will all be down to the Hartlepool game. Can we handle the pressure? I don't think so.

I'm taking this opportunity to take a bite of the great odds the bookies are offering in our relegation.

It would be ironic if the first relegation was inflicted at Sixfields next Monday!

I can see Hartlepool winning - if Cheltenham were to Cambridge - then a Northampton win and point for Hartlepool would relegate them.

GJ and Northampton have beef.
Just a bit!

Johnson is fondly remembered for nearly relegating us 4 years ago and then claimed he saved us from the drop!! In his first 10 games he managed 0 wins, 6 draws and 4 defeats before bagging 2 wins in a row. His conduct was terrible and some of his signings in the summer were utter gash Ashley Corker, Nick McKoy, Chris Arthur!

Pretty much a 3 way fight now, Cheltenham are down for me and I fancy Tranmere to pull away leaving Hartlepool to join Cheltenham. Another half dozen games though and I think Mansfield would be in desperate trouble, replacing Cox with someone with no experience was a big mistake.

We are beginning to realise that.

Everyone says its a 3 horse race - not so. If we lose to tranmere on Tuesday at home, they are 3 points behind us - we could be only 3 points clear of the drop zone with 3 to play. So that's not the case at all.

Conversely, if we win, we would be pretty much safe.

Would love to see the reaction of the bitter Tranmere fans if we sent them down.

Agreed, on the face of it, it looks like a three horse race but Tuesday will go a long way to determining how many sides are involved in this relegation battle. Massive game at Field Mill!

I wouldn't count us out. Today really couldn't have gone better for us (well in terms of results, Troy could have not got sent off) but we're not far enough from danger to relax, if Mansfield can be worried then we can be worried too.

We now have to face three promotion chasing teams without our best defender. If we can nick any points at all in those three games it will be massive, two would be awesome, three would probably see us safe, but it is also entirely possible we could lose all three. Tranmere and Hartlepool might not look like putting a run together, but anyone can win an single game, and if both manage that we're right back in it.

Then we play Hartlepool on the final day... who even knows what the situtation will be going into that game.

With our next 3 fixtures, we are no where near safe. That's why I said we needed 6 pts from these 3 games over the past week. We got 4, not bad but not enough imo.

I still think we'll go down, but at least we've now given ourselves a fighting chance and if other teams fuck up and don't take advantage of our horror run we're about to enter, we could get out of jail. Unlikely but there's a chance which is a lot more positive than a week ago.

I think we'll get 2 points out of these next 3 games, that'd probably see us over the line. Cheltenham aren't catching us, Tranmere have 2 winnable games but I doubt they'll win them both, and beyond that they have 2 tough games. Hartlepool also seem to have bottled their great escape so I can't see them making up loads of ground. And for what it's worth I think we'll turn Hartlepool over on the last day just as long as Curle doesn't make any stupid subs at the end as he did today. We've got to play Buddle on the last day seeing as it was Hartlepool who released him before Blyth.

I think the thing is though as you say have Tranmere and Cheltenham shown either are actually capable of putting a run together, and that's asuming you pick up next to nothing yourself. Games are running out and the bottom three need a lot to go for them, alongside a lot going against everyone else

I feel much safer posting in this thread now, what a huge relief. We're all but safe, realistically we'd need to lose all four games and Chelts and Tranmere win all four to go down due to our GD (unless we took some massive hammerings).

It would just about see us over the line yeah, but I honestly can't see anything more than 3 defeats, especially without Troy.

Under Curle, we've lost every single game against the top 8. We're just not good enough to take points off those teams.

but Stevenage. I honestly think we have a chance against them, they were so unbelievably awful at Brunton Park, and Westley seems to throw his tactics book out of the window whenever we meet. I don't think he ever got over that Conference play-off final... literally anything could happen in that game.

I can't see Tranmere and Hartlepool both winning two of their last four games, which is what would have to happen for Carlisle or Mansfield to have a chance of going down.

I forgot about Stevenage. Yeah I remember thinking any team that finishes below Stevenage will be relegated. What a turnaround.

I think we will get 3 points from the next 3 games. I reckon we'll beat Stevenage or Plymouth, which would see us safe.

All we need to do is just not lose to tranmere, simple.

That's massive, if we avoid defeat we are pretty much sorted, it's massive.

Even if we did lose, there is still the chance hartlepool could lose and we would still be 5 clear.

Tuesday will either be epic, or a nightmare.

Hartlepool will beat Accrington.

Accrington have absolutely nothing to play for now, there'll be no mistakes from Hartlepool here.
