In fairness Hartlepool deserve to stay up after their revival. Neither Cheltenham or Tranmere have shown that kind of resolve or fight to get out of it.

In terms of the conference Grimsby, Ebbsfleet and Gateshead handed us a pasting by 4 goals to 1 in the first half of the season when we went up.

It really is an horrendous league unless you're good and have a chance of going up, but even then it still depresses you to think you're in a league with Braintree in it and not Portsmouth.

This is what I think will happen today.

Carlisle defeat
Cheltenham win
Hartlepool defeat
Tranmere win

Cheltenham and Tranmere's opponents have nothing to play for, where as ours and Hartlepools are attempting to secure places in the playoffs.

Hellogregory, are we expecting any problems for Carlisle with impending points deductions for ineligible players? Surely you won't actually stay up? ;)

All three of us are total turd. I can't believe one of us will stay up.

We're making a game of it 2nd half but we should've been 5 down at half time.

Tranmere are going. Massive chance for 3 points and they've completely blown it.

What an incredible day. Apart from the win, the performance has been right up there with the best we've had this season. An absolute pleasure to have Kyle Dempsey at the club as well, it's getting to the stage where if he isn't at least at a top Championship team soon then something will be up. These are the days football is all about. Any thoughts hellogregory? :)

What an absolute shitheap at the bottom. Doesn't help when your entire squad is injured of course but still, what an absolute turd today compared to Tuesday. Sadly I think Pools will beat Exeter next week, we'll lose to Shrews and Tranmere will lose to Plymouth, and that will be that.

If Shrewsbury could just sort of settle for 2nd place now that'd be very nice.

I think we'll all lose our 2 remaining games & we'll stay up by being slightly less shit than TRanmere & Chelts.
Next season our owners will cut even more funding & we'll,be relegated by Xmas.

Hartlepool were really poor today, not the worst I've seen this year but up there certainly. Their defense was appalling, at times in the first half Lee was literally walking around them with ease. Made a go of it second half but never threatened truth be told.

Fair play to their fans sang pretty much the whole second half when here wasn't much to shout about. "Everything little thing is going to be alright" they sang, and it might be because Cheltenham look even more inept!

We're shite.
That second half performance ranks up there with the Barnes era as one of the worst 45 minutes I've ever seen us play. It was 0-3, could have been 0-5/0-6. We missed a sitter at 0-0 and never looked like scoring after that.
The atmosphere was became very negative. 'Adams Out', 'You don't know what you're doing', 'Sack the board', fans escorted out for storming the dugout (to a standing ovation, may I add) and a few home truths including 'You're not fit to wear the shirt'.. It was that bad our fans were 'ole ole ole' when Oxford were taking the piss out of our side!
What sums it up is when it went 0-2, Adams went and sat right into the dugout hiding. Then at the end, our players just went straight off and the OXFORD PLAYERS clapped our fans out of what seemed sympathy. Apparently there were some nasty scenes at the main entrance at full time.

Spineless bunch of cowards and I never want to see any of them ever play for us again. Deadly serious, I would play the youth side for the last 2 games, we lose every week anyway.

Cheltenham and Hartlepool - you have a 50/50 chance of staying up, because we sure as hell aren't.

Great to be out of trouble, but I never really thought we'd be relegated.

Hard to pick which 2 will go down, as they are all very poor. It looks like there will be something riding on the final game for Hartlepool, so should be a great game.

Just gonna throw this out there (mainly to annoy HG) but we could be mathematically safe come 5pm on Saturday

Mansfield Beat Tranmere
Cheltenham nick a point at Cambridge
Hartlepool beat Accrington
Carlisle nick a scrappy point at Burton, motivated by the fact they've been able to see other results going their way the day before

Mansfield 9
Carlisle 7
Hartlepool 4
------------------
Tranmere 0
Cheltenham -1

Then on Saturday

Tranmere draw with Oxford
Cheltenham lose to Northampton
Carlisle nick another point at home to Plymouth
Then it doesn't matter what Hartlepool and Mansfield do, but just to keep HG happy we'll say they both win, beating Luton and Cambridge respectively.

Mansfield 11
Carlisle 7
Hartlepool 6
---------------------
Tranmere 0
Cheltenham -2

And with only two games left to play, that's Cheltenham relegated and Carlisle safe, and Carlisle didn't even need to win either of their games and Tranmere were even allowed to draw one.

So this happened... I was actually being very pessimistic with my predictions when I said that too.

And on that note, unless someone else says something about us I need to reply to, that will be my last mention of Carlisle United on this thread.

Saturday has to be Hartlepool's day to do it. Exeter have nothing to play for - Cheltenham face a very good Shrewsbury side. However - if there is a draw on Tuesday barring swing in goal difference - Shrews will already be up.
