Interesting - just done it again to show that you must have done it wrong and it has us 24th and Notts 23rd.
I've tried it multiple times and it always gives something different. The table yesterday had Yeovil down, but today it had Yeovil up in 16th, for instance.

I don’t know what that is, nor do I want to find out. Of course that combo is a possibility but shouldn’t be the favourite IMO

At least we have no-one to blame but ourselves if we cock the next month up. Playing 4 of the 5 teams directly around us in the next 6 games.

I think that’s a good thing, even in shocking form you are playing other poor or out of form sides. As you say in your own hands rather than playing sides fighting it out at the top

Histon still a sore point then! :bg:

IIRC they only beat Cambridge in the FA Trophy when they were still in a lower division (admittedly still a pretty low point). They never beat them in the league or finished above them, I think the latter would have been much more of an embarrassment than a one-off thrashing in a tinpot competition.

Really interesting analysis of the ups and downs of the NL from Vanni and Soup Ladle, although I got the impression Vanni's post was getting increasingly tongue-in-check and clutching at straws in his list of the positives.

There are no positives of being non-league, end of.

Visiting shitty little grounds isn't a plus. Being late for games because there are cows in the road isn't a plus (although the Vegies are now a league side). Nuneaton is a big Council Estate with aggressive tenants, even people from Coventry think they are strange! Muddy car parks and unlit pathways for midweek games become tedious and losing against pub sides just eats away at your belief.

I wouldn't wish it on any true supporter of a proper club.

I was shocked to be mobbed by cows when going to a game at the Abbey Stadium in Cambridge so it's not just FGR who can have issues. :-)

I recall going FGR for a cup game in 2012 when they were National League... heading down a dirt track with a farm one side I was about to chuck my Sat Nav out the window as it couldn't be correct that I was only 100 yards from destination... then it appeared!

As I have mentioned before though, the following year we had their big village rivals Shortwood United in the FA Cup... now that is remote! Had to park two miles away, be bussed up a steep dirt track type hill road in pitch black (was a BT game on a Monday night)... was a good night that... only Vale game competitively I have been where it wasn't segregated.

Funny story from that night was Micky Adams randomly invited a member of the press into the dressing room for a "behind the scenes" experience for the match coverage... only to stand him up in front of the team and tell the lads... this c**t is only here for one thing! to see you lot fall flat on your ******* faces so don't give him what he wants...

Poor bloke.

Think it would really hit in that FA Trophy thing when we slide to an embarrassing defeat to Leek Town or Stafford Rangers. That would have to be hitting rock bottom right?
I thought we’d hit rock bottom with this:

But then we managed to better it with this:

Is it fair to say that the only major positive about being in the Conference is getting promoted from it?

Luton fans hated it down there and they were winning games most weeks.

Luke Rodgers missed two penalties?

Yep, that was in a replay in which we failed to score from open play in 180 minutes against them. Think there was approximately seven divisions between us at the time. Was also the year we got relegated from League One.

Also prompted us to sign two players from Chasetown owing to them games Kyle Perry and Chris Slater who turned out to be utter garbage.

Luke Rodgers missed two penalties?

He did about five minutes apart and the coldest I’ve ever been.

The didn’t threaten us but you knew when they got that long ball into the box at the end what was going to happen.

If I recall their equaliser in the first tie was from near the half way line too!
