Football is a funny one though, look at Vale..

Lost to Morecambe, Cheltenham and Cambridge, drawing at County... then dominate and beat Mansfield for only our second win since November!

We haven’t beaten a team from outside of the current top eight since 6th October!

I hope County are absolutely going for it right now because they need the win with Macclesfield looking certain to pick up three.

Sky reporter said there was signs of urgency or desperation for the win whatsoever!

Reckon one more win for Vale just to be sure but this four game stretch has done the trick from our perspective.

Sadly for Yeovil I think they are doomed, nothing performance against us midweek and by the looks of it almost as bad at home to Macc. One of the great mysteries of recent times how Way is still in a job. That alone is what’s going to cost them.

Just as long as they keep him for another 8 games.

We just need to keep ticking over now, 4 points should be enough, a win maybe enough as Notts would need to win 4 from 8 and Macc 4 from 9 which is a big ask!

A good fortnight!

I'm tempted to say its 2 out of 3 now after today. You've got to fear for Yeovil, as they may be handing a chance to Notts, or more probably Macc to climb out of danger. RealistIcally we need another 4 or 5 points with FGR up next which wont be easy.

I wouldn’t discount any of them because you are guaranteed a run or form by at least one of them, but felt like one of those where County really needed to find a way today.

It’s definitely 2 from 3. Sadly another wasted opportunity for us today!

Yeah, you have to win those ones really.

I think wasted is the wrong word because the team at least tried and put the effort in same as Carlisle game, couldn't see 4/6 points this time last week from those two games.

One shot on target all game worth the name, not enough in such a crucial six pointer.man
Two from three and we have to be favourites to drop.

Yeovil surely have to sack Way now? Yes it might not work this late but it must be worth taking the chance that a new manager or even caretaker manager bounce might help grab a win or two.

Yeovil fans, why isn’t Dickinson getting games? The defence looked young and inexperienced Tuesday surely he would improve that?

Darren Way said after yesterday's "non-existent performance" (his words) that he could see the fear in our players.

It's ok though, he then revealed his masterplan. The players are in today and they're going to run. They're going to run up and down the pitch.

Still won't happen. I'm hearing rumours the new owner wants him gone but won't pay the severance money.

Looking at the remaining fixtures I’d say Yeovil’s are the toughest, but it’s fairly marginal. At least we don’t have any more relegation 6 pointers - a) I don’t think my heart can take them, and b) we have been terrible in them this season.

In terms of run ins, it may be whoever is playing the most midtable, nothing to play for teams that has it easiest.

Cambridge have a pretty horrific run in, although like us probably only need three points. Could get pretty nervy there though if they don’t pick them up quickly.

We have Crewe, Crawley, Grimsby, Swindon, Stevenage, and Northampton, all of which you could probably put in that category. And MK dons and Exeter at home.

If we are safe we will likely do our usual late season on the beach performance and get walloped by Macc Town before a customary 5-0 loss at Bury on the final day to add to the 5-0 at Cambridge last season and Walsall a couple of years before that (along with a 5-0 and 6-0 at Swindon in dead rubbers in the last decade!)

Having had a quick look at the bottom 3's remaining fixtures, it looks like Macclesfield, on paper, have more chances to pick up points.

Obviously doesn't work out like that but I don't look at Yeovil and County's fixtures and see 3 or 4 games where they'll be confident of picking up points.

You could say that about Newport and look what happened at their place.

Still, you're right, that's the way it usually works out, and I hope it does in Notts County's case.

Aye, it works both ways. Teams with no pressure can play better etc. The old ‘on the beach’ thing doesn’t always work.

We play Notts and Yeovil in back to back games in April at home. Both are our bogey sides in this division as well along with Exeter.

Personally want Macc to stay up as a result. Also with 8 to play for Notts and Yeovil and 9 to play for Macclesfield I reckon 48 will definitely be enough to stay up even if the worst case scenario of the bottom two both rallying happens. Realistically though I can't see the bottom 3 troubling anywhere near 45 points given their respective forms.

However, there's always one side that goes into a tailspin towards the end of the season as one or two of the bottom clubs rally (Morecambe last year who only just stayed up and Hartlepool the year before for instance).

From top working our way down, Crawley are very much staying in this thread after getting slaughtered by a previously goal shy Crewe side. Promotion chasers mixed in with relegation battlers for the rest of the way for them. Still unlikely to go down based on their home form and how far away they are, but you never know.

Morecambe have got the wins they need and might well have entered 'operation 0-0' mode if yesterday is anything to go by. The Vale continue to nudge their way to safety, been a very good couple of weeks for them. Some favourable home games to close out the season, those should see them home.

Cambridge didn't play and their run in is brutal. Not out of the woods by a long stretch. Yeovil though, they continue to self destruct. Battered by the Vale and Macc in their last 2, only 3 above the drop zone. Can they keep their heads above water?

Macc though give themselves a real chance by beating Yeovil. Their home form looks key to saving them. Stevenage, Morecambe, Newport, Cambridge. Some favourable fixtures there. Got to follow up yesterday by beating Stevenage.

Notts County had a bad day, although they did start the afternoon 4 points away from Yeovil and ended it 3 points away. So there's that. But they have mostly tricky games left and we are almost in genuine 'must win' territory for them.

Love the way things have swung around over the last month. I don't think you can call it. Yes, it looks like 2 from 3 at this moment, but which 2? And I wouldn't rule out Cambridge either with their run in.

Yeah we're definitely still in this, odds are still in our favour and we don't need to do much but it's not inconceivable we go and lose 3 in a row and then the pressure will really be on, and I'm not sure our bunch of shysters have the balls to stand up and be counted when a battle is needed.

We have managed to get through a tricky couple of month's fixtures and our run in looks a bit easier. Can't play down the importance of yesterday's win getting us into a position where we aren't too far adrift. A win next weekend against Stevenage would be massive.
