Macc were the big losers last night without playing, and they have Yeovil up next which is a 6 pointer. Things could look very bad for them by Saturday night.

The only hope for County or Macc is that Yeovil continue to play as badly as they did last night. It would suit us just fine if one of them stayed up at Yeovils expense.

Plenty of Notts fans with the old Basil Fawlty quote in their minds this morning. Last night's result and performance does indeed offer some hope, the only trouble is we have been far better this season against the better teams (wins against Mansfield, Tranmere, FGR, Carlisle, draws against Lincoln, ColU, Bury), and awful against our relegation rivals, especially at home. Plus, Morecambe are in pretty good form. But three points and we can maybe think about looking up instead of down. I don't know what the other-run ins are like but I think it looks like 2 from 3 now - Yeovil have a few tricky fixtures after Macc on Saturday and by all accounts were dreadful last night. Think we are going to struggle to catch anyone else though, especially with our terrible GD.

Hopefully we will keep the same XI, I think Stead's injury could be a blessing - Hemmings was superb up top on his own last night, something a few fans have wanted to see for a while. A midfield 3 of Jim O'Brien (if fit after Devitt's challenge), Michael Doyle and David Vaughan is old as f*** but really ought to be good enough!

To be honest though it's just nice to be off the f****** bottom!

Difference ten days makes, three outstanding performances and 7 points.

We’ve gone from looking dead and buried in free fall to looking energised and playing the best football in three or four years! Only downside was not punishing Notts County or we would be virtually there now.

Players who’d fell out the team under Aspin now look rejuvenated such as Worrall and Miller and the likes of Joyce and Conlon have randomly turned into form players.

Still a work in progress but Askey seems to have turned us around. One win might be enough with GD, Two certainly should, we’ve gone from 50-50 ten days ago to possibly 90-10 to staying up I would think.

Just need to keep it going and hopefully get safe as quickly as possibly so we can relax!

We've known that for a long time. We have good players but when they are that demotivated it shows you exactly how they've been crushed over the course of the season by a manager who is deluded, out of his depth and in denial.

And just when you think things look pretty settled, a surprise win throws a spanner in the works. Happens every year. Notts County pick up a win at Carlisle and now, if they can beat Morecambe, they are suddenly right back in it. Macc slip to the bottom, but now have a game in hand. If they can beat Yeovil on Saturday, then they too could have a chance.

As for Yeovil, they put themselves right back in the shit by getting hammered at Port Vale. Lose to Macc and they are in big big trouble. Just when things were looking dicey for the Vale, they put in 2 good performances and pick up 6 points. Gives them some breathing room and puts them within touching distance of safety. Some tricky games coming up for them in the next few weeks, we'll see if they have turned a corner.

Morecambe pull form out of their arse once again, this time beating MK Dons in impressive fashion. Beat them and FGR in 4 days, that's some going. Some easier fixtures coming up for them, but fail to win and they'll be right back in the mix. Cambridge couldn't beat Crewe at home, which is criminal. Tough schedule coming up for them, not out of the woods yet. Crawley record a solid 4 points from Grimsby and Mansfield at home, pretty good return. One more win should probably do it for them.

This bad boy isn't over yet by the looks of things. Any proclamation otherwise might look a bit silly if results go a certain way on Saturday. Watching the Notts County v Morecambe and Yeovil v Macc games with interest.

I recall that I agreed with a Pies fan (was it you LongEatonPie ?) when said poster claimed Notts could get 6 wins out of the remaining games. Well, they've won 3 already. At the time people thought this to be far too optimistic.

In short, it's not a good idea when people start predicting so and so are definitely down in February or early March when there's still around 15 matches left to play.

We aren't a poor side, but we aren't a particularly good one either. Our away form is utter turd, as evidenced by the fact we've scored 11 goals and won just 2 games, one of those being against a side with 10 men for 78 minutes. The 5 draws before last night were against the teams in 24th, 22nd, 19th, 17th and 14th.

It's a long Tuesday night trip, which we are usually ass in. It was poor weather, which we usually struggle with. Plus we've lost both our last 2 trips to your ground handily. We came in having lost 3 straight, having scored 2 goals in our last 4 games. We lost our last away game on Friday to Tranmere, so weren't carrying any unbeaten streaks. Poor form, no goals, away from home, Tuesday night, long distance etc. Should have been a comfy home win. Yes our team deserve credit for seemingly putting on a reasonable display, but still, failing to win in the above circumstances is borderline criminal, especially given your next 4. If you aren't beating us in favourable circumstances, who are you beating?
