Heard it first here, Mansfield going to swop Maynard for Robinson at Vale.

More I think with Maynard I don't see how he fits into our system assuming Askey is still the manager so be no different to Theo and Vale wasting so much time chasing him in the summer was a mistake. That doesn't mean we still wouldn't try signing him based on our recruitment recently.

Mentioned it a week ago (the Maynard bit anyway)

Another old player past it.

Want us to be more dynamic than that.

Looks like we will throw money at it with Taylor as well which will involve a fee but changes nothing if problems are deep rooted.

Of course its a publicity stunt.

Crawley Town and Mark Wright get their name across the newspapers. You never know, it might drum up a little extra support for the man and the club.

Yep.

If we do manage to sign taylor then it might help improve burgess performances as he has been abysmal this season. I cant see the Maynard swap for Robinson happening think we will be signing young players on loan so expect a load of forest youngsters to sign.

Maynard has been doing the rounds for a week or two now and seems to have now been suggested from the Stags side as well, if they want Robinson then probably works for both parties.

If Taylor does sign and Maynard then need a central defender, the podcast made the point that both Legge and Brisley were probably only signed as no one expected Smith to stay hence lack pace at the back. Ideally need some hairy arsed clogger who will clear the lines though based on recent weeks!

We probably should have signed howkins and innis when we had chance instead of them going to Newport.

Inniss was class during his loan spell but got injured against Coventry and struggled after that, Howkins I thought there was issues there when Askey came in hence he was sent back early?

Joel Randall to either Swansea or Celtic for £1.5m is the latest rumour for us. I would hope there is a whopping big sell on clause attached to that if so.

£1.5M would be a decent fee for someone who’s only played half a season, albeit a very impressive half a season. Agree that a 20% would be a must.

Personally I’d hope we can keep him till the summer at least. If he can get around the 15 goal mark then his value would jump even higher.

Declan John and Kieran Lee both Championship Standard players set to be announced and included in the squad this Saturday against Crawley
Have you actually signed Donahue yet or are you still under some sort of transfer embargo?

Sunderland fans reckon he’s nowhere near good enough after his loan spell with them and never even made the bench. Strange loan, that!

yes and a poster on here said he was garbage when he was at Rangers, but i think a player who is only 25 and played 20 odd premier and 30 odd Scottish premier games can at least play for either of us without looking out of place.

Saying its a done deal up here, linking up with us Wed

Rumours on twitter that we’re selling Mellish to Sunderland.

To be honest if it’s a good offer I think we can cope, it’s not like losing Guy for example. Plus it might give us a bit of extra cash to offer Bennett and as you say to sign a right back to cover while Tanner is out.
I've not found anything to lend substance to the rumour besides him missing the last couple of games with a knock like Branthwaite did before we sold him (and Watters is for Crawley) and Sunderland being his boyhood club.

I know it's a bit of a cliche to say a step up for a young player might not be the best thing for their career but I think with this it would actually be true.

He's still in the process really of switching position from centre back to attacking midfield and Chris Beech is giving him a lot of support and patience to do that, he's not quite there yet.

He won't get any of that at Sunderland. It'll be a pressure cooker, their fans demand promotion and are furious that they don't look like achieving it. He'll get stuck in attacking midfield for them against the likes of Lincoln and Ipswich and if he doesn't score goals then the fans will get on his back and he'll be branded a flop.

Yep.

It’s a bit like Sky all over Salford and the Class of 92 - but all publicity is what clubs need - everyone would take it given half a chance.

It's a cliche for a reason though, isn't it? I'd imagine Sunderland is a terrible move for most youngsters learning their trade in L2 at the moment. Much better off selling your young players to someone like Peterborough if possible as they'll get time in the side at some point and if he's good enough, you'll get a decent sell on clause. I'd probably rather sell any decent youngsters we have to a mid/upper League 1 side for around 500k-1m, than to a top level L1/Championship side for 500k more purely because the likelihood of getting a good sell on later down the line is much greater.

Sunderland raiding league 2 it seems, Mellish and Winchester. Bit of a comedown for them, they uised to sign players like Defoe and Bent.

Mansfield are after Lucas Akins, although it seems like we try and sign him every other year.

I think Cook and Maynard would both be available to leave, Cook will be on big pre-cap wages though.

Apparently Forest looking to move him on permanently and we are one of three clubs interested. Hopefully we can bring him back here but I just hope people are not expecting him to be the saviour for us. It's too much to ask of someone who is still very much at the start of his career.

Well usually when I or anyone else says that, we're being a bit ignorant of the fact that the money alone will set a player up for life at a time when a career in professional football is far from guaranteed, and an ambitious young player will always feel that they can make the step up to whichever level they're moving to. I can't remember a time a player ever chose to stay at Carlisle rather than sign for a team in a higher division, so the 'advice' pundits and fans offer them seems a bit futile and more just because you want your club to keep their best players.

Sunderland though are a car crash, and especially for a player still learning a new role, I'll make an exception to that. They still think they're big time and treat every player they bring in like some multimillion galactico who needs to hit the ground running.

Not even sure with their financial troubles and wage caps if they'll be able to make him a better offer.

He is a fantastic player though, we saw that and adds that crucial missing bit, goals from midfield. Would of been a double figures had he been fit after Xmas.

Need to get this done, at least then we won’t have Shitehead trotting around like he won a competition to be a footballer.

If premier League scouts are watching Pollock this afternoon, Town fans have no worries about him leaving us this window.

Pollock being bullied by the best striker in the league.
Neither comment fair, I don't think? Pollock's only mistake was getting outpaced for the second, which any scout looking at him will be aware is a problem. I doubt he'll be snapped up by anyone in the Prem anyway, but perhaps a L1/Championship club.

He put at least 2 simple passes straight out for a throw in before that too.

My comment was tongue in cheek anyway, but I'd be surprised if a premier League side came in for him.
