Very very good, too good for League 2.
He was up until January that season, then we extended his loan for the rest of the season and he quietened down a bit I thought, either that or teams cottoned onto the fact that we offered very little going forward and snuffing out Embleton meant you'd get an easy ride. Hasn't played a great deal of football since we had him, but if he can get back to his Aug/Sep/Oct form of 2018/19 then he'd be a quality signing for anyone in this division.

No idea where that rumour has come from though. Probably some wannabe transfer gossipers have just put 2 and 2 together with the Jolley link.

We've signed Jem Karacan on a free, cost cutting measures very much in place.

He was once good for Reading, shame it was about 10 years ago

Were trying to sign Tom Pope from Vale, apparently tried in the summer too.

It's like we want to be relegated.

I had heard he’d rejected you in the summer but he hasn’t been featuring much until the injuries hit last couple weeks so expect he may be more tempted. I can see him waiting until the new manager is announced to see though.

He’s struggled for form this season.

I've not found anything to lend substance to the rumour besides him missing the last couple of games with a knock like Branthwaite did before we sold him (and Watters is for Crawley) and Sunderland being his boyhood club.

I know it's a bit of a cliche to say a step up for a young player might not be the best thing for their career but I think with this it would actually be true.

He's still in the process really of switching position from centre back to attacking midfield and Chris Beech is giving him a lot of support and patience to do that, he's not quite there yet.

He won't get any of that at Sunderland. It'll be a pressure cooker, their fans demand promotion and are furious that they don't look like achieving it. He'll get stuck in attacking midfield for them against the likes of Lincoln and Ipswich and if he doesn't score goals then the fans will get on his back and he'll be branded a flop.
Yeah just saw a few tweets but upon further look they appear to be from standard twitter 2+2 = 5 transfer guesswork accounts. The same twitter accounts are linking us with Scunthorpe’s Alex Gilliead which I’d be amazed if true, not because he wasn’t a good player for us but because I don’t think he’s a Beech player at all.

I’m more concerned about Barton going at Fleetwood and the fact that Beech is Fleetwood born and bred.

He's a shithouse wanker, he'd be our best striker but I don't want him

Match made in heaven, he'll fit right in at Scunny. Odds on to bang in the winner in the derby if you get him in pronto. Might be too much if Bishop is on the co-comms on iFollow again.

He’s a big banter man, thankfully off Twitter now so you’d be ok. Probably as good a target man as you’ll get at this level, just can’t play the games he did.

Talks of Ricky Holmes joining. He is in tonight’s paper saying he’s ready to sign. Not sure personally if he can get/keep fit then probably be the best player in the division but he’s old and I feel he just wants a contract close to home to finish off his career and we’ve had too many of those types previously

Young lad had good potential but have to say I never saw man United taking him off us like not in a million years Dan Bentley was 10x the keeper Bishop was at the same age

He’ll be a good signing. Alan McCormack needs some company in the treatment room. They can reminisce about the 2000s when they could both play 90 minutes of professional football; keep each other’s spirits up.

According to Alan Nixon, nobody at Carlisle knows about any interest from Sunderland

Very very good, too good for League 2.
I don’t think he’s too good for league 2 at all personally.

i would also say he’s good, not very very good. Went off the boil later in the season. If he can be consistent then defo a player in there but lack Of game time at Sunderland would indicate his level.

Agree. Busy little player, isn't afraid to receive the ball in tight areas and likes to drive at the defence. Looked a top end league 2 player with potential to go higher at the beginning of his loan spell, pretty anonymous to fairly poor at the end. I'd have him back on a two year contract in a heartbeat.

We haven't extended the loan of Birmingham striker Jayden Reid - but he hadn't got many minutes recently so no surprise there. We also released Jack Hindle after his contract expired at the end of December. Looks like Jolley is making room for his own new arrivals - although i don't expect more that 3 or 4 at most.

Gavin Reilly has left by mutual consent. Sounds like he already has an offer from Scotland and we've allowed him to go.

We could do with someone in the mold we hoped we were getting with Reilly. He started the season as the 4th choice forward but got a couple of assists off the bench, making some decent early appearances. He spurned a couple of good scoring chances, only getting the one goal in the phony trophy against Villa's academy and with Patrick back to fitness his chances have become more limited.

With Reilly, Obiero, Dewhurst and Malley departed we're in a position I would hope to hang on to the players we want to keep. Other promotion chasers have been hit by the recall of loanees and that's a ballache we know all too well from a couple of seasons ago when the recalls of Nadesan, Sowerby and Yates essentially derailed our promotion push. We're much better off this season, Kayode being the only loanee that's important for us to keep.

We have two contracted goalkeepers who were expected to push each other for the number one jersey, though it's hard to see Farman giving it up now.

We have three first-team standard centre-backs in Hayden, Bennett and McDonald. Still need to extend Bennetts contract but if we can do that then we need no further strengthening in that area.

Similarly at left back we have Anderton and Armer, both capable of contributing to a promotion push, Armer's been brilliant since Anderton had to isolate.

With Tanner's injury due to last maybe a couple more months and no dedicated understudy, we could do with going into the market for one. Loan market is probably our best bet since we want quality but Tanner is still the first choice in this position.

I think we have all the options we could need in midfield with Guy, Riley, Mellish, Devine, Furman Dixon, Dickenson and Charters but we are chasing another on loan it would seem.

Up front we're just lacking goals. 5 for Alessandra and 4 each for Kayode and Patrick, Toure yet to score. We could do with adding a proven goal-getter to our options. Ethan Walker could return on loan once over his injury and I'd like that but he's more a wide player.

We are trying to get George Dobson CM from Sunderland on loan previously Walsall also trying to get Reeco Hackett-Fairchild from Pompey on loan who has been with Bromley this season on loan.

No offer from us to Ricky Holmes as yet he is just brassing himself out just makes me think we shouldn't go near.

Newport have apparently made a bid to sign Scott Twine from us permanently. I really hope we give him a chance in our first team, but because of finances I'd understand if we were to cash in, given he is out of contract at the end of the season.

Rhys Bennett has signed up until the end of the season.

Huge signing. For me he’s the best centre back in the league.

I also think this means Beech isn’t going to Fleetwood. Beech mentioned the other day that Bennett is only here because he wants to play for Beech. If there was even a possibility of Beech leaving I don’t think Bennett would have committed.

combine that with the best midfielder in the league in Callum Guy, and the best false 9 in the league in Lewis Alessandra and things are looking rosy.

Bennett is good at this level, but that’s probably going OTT - which is in character of course :)

Looks like Newport have lost some big players this window already. Be interesting to see where other teams will end up after the Jan window.

Twine may have been recalled to get a fee but sounds like Cooper is a bigger blow for them.

Stevenage made a good signing in Chris Lines. Never really thought of them as having much need for a midfield the way they play but he's a very solid player.

Not sure how true that Pope to Scunny one is but I'd be more than willing let him go. He's simply not up to it any more. People talk about him needing service but Worrall is the best crosser in the division and he almost never wins a header any more.

Stevenage have signed Chris Lines, Luke Norris and Matty Stevens. Colchester getting rid of their main striker is a weird one!

Luke Norris is overweight and poor. Never seen Matty Stevens have a good game but that saying those signings should be enough to keep them safe.
