Salford are signing Paul Coutts from Fleetwood apparently, which should be a very good signing.

5 years ago, maybe. Their side is already overstuffed with old, slow players with higher-division reputations. Can’t see this changing much.

Yeah, their transfer business doesn't scream longevity but Coutts was excellent in L1 last season. As you say, not the quickest but still a very good player.

EDIT - That said, Salford don't seem to get the best out of (m)any players.

Massive Randall and Ampadu expert here. How many times have you seen Randall, or even Ampadu, play?

Regardless of that you said that they won't get 1M for a player that has played 15 times, you made it sound like that's a general rule. I was merely pointing out you're wrong on that.
I think you contradict yourself on your next post as you had to look up Ampadu on wiki.
As i say and Moonmin agrees Ampadu is a special case.
When he controlled that ball on his chest and pinged it across the park on his debut he was 15
Randall played really well against us but we have at least 4 Players at our club younger but with the same potential......I doubt we have a Ampadu.
At least you got a like off the resident Bindipper

Salford are the only team in the top 10 who are not selling but recruiting players. They will go up this season but how many are genuine lge1 players...They will more or less have to rebuild again in the summer
Too many chiefs and not enough indians will eventually see them implode

Have no idea what you're getting at here.

And I haven't contradicted myself at all, I've not offered any opinion on anyone's ability in this exchange. You said that it's not possible to get 1M for a player who has only played 15 times. There was no reference to ability, age or potential from you. I gave you an example of a player who went for more than that price having played about half the amount of games. You were wrong, I was right.

ok we had a player Lucca Connell who is streets ahead of Randall and we got 100k for him.
Lee Boyer says he would like Randall at Charlton but wont go above 300k.
Wayne Rooney could have been sold for 20m after one game at Everton at 16
The same with Michael Owen.........you will always get one offs.......Randall is 21 with 15 games for Exeter he aint going for a £1m

Again, not sure how you're so well informed to declare that a lad who hasn't made a first team appearance for Celtic in over a year and a half is streets ahead of Randall who you must have only seen play once at most? Bowyer won't go above 300k, but how much of that is determined by the budget constraints and recent financial difficulties at Charlton than it is by Randall's ability? I'm not saying whether he should be commanding a certain fee or not, I've never seen him play but Exeter will know how much he's worth better than Charlton do and they consistently get decent fees for their youngsters - which something you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about for some reason.

Edit: I have seen him play actually, he played against us earlier on in the season apparently but I don't remember him particularly.

Easy to say they will go up because they are signing this player and that player. The managers job is to keep all those players happy and pulling in the right direction.

Ian Henderson everyone thought would rip up this league but he only has 6 league goals. They have no player in the top 10 of assists in the league, however what they do have is a top squad on paper.

I think Newport may drift away as they have lost two of their best players in Twine and Cooper but other than them I believe teams like Exeter, Forest Green and Carlisle will be there come the end of the season so it won't be a given they will go up.

Then you can throw us into the mix. A small squad of players all doing it for a manager who is able to get the maximum out of his players. We all thought it wouldn't last, Cambridge will fall away when Mullin stops scoring but it hasn't been the case yet. If Mullin doesn't score we are still winning games. Eve when we are awful and don't deserve it.

This isn't real life football manager and it's not a given Salford will go up.

So, do clubs get independently audited to see if they are adhering to the salary cap?

Playing for Exeter in lge 2 at 21 is not really standout. [ by the way i think Randall is decent]. You are right Connell is not getting games at Celtic because he has been injured.
At 17 connell was playing in the Championship Randall was being loaned around Devon non league teams

What are you trying to say

That your assertion of “Salford are the only club in the top ten who are buying not selling” is factually incorrect. All of the clubs in the division are seeing varying degrees of movement both in and out. Carlisle have signed three players that I can think of - who have they sold? Orient have let go of two fringe players and brought two new players in. FGR have signed Bailey Cargill and Newport nabbed Jack Evans from Swansea. Crawley sold Watters but have replaced him with some of the best hairstyles Brylcreem can create.

In other words, you are parlancing bowleaux, as per.

Yeah agree with this. You could make one of those flowcharts for Salford's transfer policy. Has he played in the North West before? Yes. Has he been decent in the second tier in the last 2-3 years? Yes. Sign him up.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of consideration of squad harmony. Eventually it will work and they'll go up, I'm sure. But it's not the failsafe way of going about things that a lot think it is. Especially when you chuck sacking Graham Alexander and replacing him with Wellens, who favours quite a different style of football, into the mix.

I wont disagree with anything you say, but the facts are unfortunatly money talks. The teams you mentioned will all be weaker as FGR have lost players already this window...Exeter have offers in and i would expect Carlisle would take any offer for players that will be out of contract this summer.
You with a small squad will be hoping injuries dont have a impact as you play Saturday, Tuesday most weeks until the end of the season

Hoping the loss of Cooper won't be too hard felt. David Longe-King, who we signed from St Albans last summer and has been injured up until now, looks like he will be able to plug the Cooper gap. Not so good on the ball but with a few games under his belt that might come. Playing out from the back at Dave is not really possible now due to the pitch. DLK has been very solid so far.
Losing Twine is going to be a problem and a v hard act to follow. Thought Devitt may have stepped up but wasn't to be. Need a midfield link between defence and attack, which Twine provided with goals and assists. Luke Gambin is a good signing but not as a replacement for Twine.

Sam Stubbs arrives on a 2.5 year deal from Fleetwood. Hopefully the CB we’ve been missing all season. Very happy with this signing.

Gambin is not a terrible signing but Twine with 7 goals and 7 assists is going to be very hard to replace.
You are a good footballing side but are you a good long ball side?

Easy to say you’ll go long because of the pitch but unless you are a big physical team and make it work it’s just not as affective. Time will tell.

This looks like a great signing and addresses the area where we are weakest.

Reports emerging that carlisle are getting Ethan Walker back from Preston. I’d be happy with this as he looked really promising, but we aren’t half going to be stacked in attacking areas.

We currently have Kayode, Patrick, Toure, Alessandra, Scott, Dickenson, Zanzala and now possibly Ethan Walker all competing for a starting spot in the front 3.

We've brought Preston loanee Ethan Walker back to the club. I guess with the most important additions to the squad being made without the need for loans we're more free to use the loan market to bring in players we would like to have rather than just players we need.

Ohno, that must be tough. Hope you manage to deal with that.
