We can’t really go for it in this division anymore with the cap, I mean I suppose we can with transfer fees.

I think It was originally said Lapslie was available to leave with certain clauses, but not necessarily a fee although the club website does mention a ‘undisclosed fee’ So I imagine that either a club put in a money offer that we had to then match, or the fee is a sub for some of the potential clauses in the transfer, or we put in the fee to get first dibs!

Thought fees are included, however Jake Taylor as an example, we offered a good bid last winter but Forest gave him a new deal.

This year they were prepared to sell him but realised they wouldn’t get much money up front due to the situation so we’ve signed him for a fee but the bulk of the deal for Forest is the clauses included such as sell on.

Could be how you’ve got around it? Probably low up front fee but a big sell on.

...and we continue to ship out the absolute dross.

Jackson Longridge is the latest player to go. He joins Kurtis Gurthrie, Ben Richards-Everton, Austin Samuels.
Longbridge signed for Livingston. Scottish premiership must be dire for them to sign a player from us who hasnt been able to break into our team in his 18 months spell with us

It is indeed a dire league as when we were in the Conference loads of players moved to the Scottish Prem from there.

Transfer fees are not included within the cap, the reason I said all that is because it was reported that Lapslie was cleared to leave on a free transfer, so was surprised when the club website said undisclosed fee.

I saw potential in Menayese. Agree not worth writing off yet.

He definitely has the physical attributes but it came across his concentration and composure was miles off for the EFL. I really hope he does well at Grimsby, we’ve got him under contract so it could benefit next season if he shows promise.

Strong rumours that Danny Rowe is on his way here from Oldham. Seems to have divided opinion after a brief look on twitter, although he had a couple of really good games against us earlier in the season.

Excellent technique and a tremendous finisher from range. Scored some belters against us over the past few seasons. Far too slow for the Football League, though. Absolutely glacial.

It's a salary cap, so it's everything to do with the player such as wages, bonuses, signing on fees etc. It does include agent fees, but not transfer fees

Looks like the centre back we’re signing is Sam Stubbs from Fleetwood on a free. Think he’s the son of Alan Stubbs.

The announcement has been delayed as he’s got COVID. Don’t know much about him except he had a loan spell in the Dutch top flight last season. Will hopefully be much better than McArdle who’s been poor.

We’ve also rejected two bids from Charlton, in the region of £300K, for Joel Randall. We’re asking for near £1M according to Bowyer.

Great first season for him, but he needs a season or two with us to really develop as we’ll give him the game time. A move too early could set him back, but any bid around the £750k mark will surely see us accept it.

We had an undisclosed one in the summer, which was £0 but a sell-on clause.

Clayton Donaldson now rumoured to be going the other way as part of the Rowe deal. I'd be surprised myself but delighted because he's way past it and should have retired last summer.

He seemed to be a threat in the opposition box too. He hit the post once and got a goal from what I remember. I just thought his concentration/positioning looked like he hadn't played enough games or done enough learning through experience. Wikipedia has him age 23 and only about 50 appearances before joining. It can't have helped playing next to Coughlan Rawson. I don't think he's as bad as made out on Stagsnet but fully agree his form was horrendous.

Well the one attribute we need the most in our CBs is a bit of pace and it sounds like he checks that box, Pollock and Waterfall are generally fairly sound positionally so hopefully he'll be able to improve on that by playing alongside them and Hendrie and Habergham. What's he like when the ball is on the deck?

Rowe divides opinions wherever he goes - brilliant on his day - but a fat lazy moody ****** the rest of the time. He puts in his best performances when he faces former clubs, of which there are quite a few - unfortunately that list includes us.

Not great but he is surely capable of playing a short, simple pass/booting it down field if there is no simple pass on.

We’ve signed Cedwyn Scott from northern league side Hebburn.

As mentioned in the summer, part of our recruitment strategy was to target talent from the northern league so they can come into the football league while still keeping their career outside of football. This is our first step in to the concept of part time football league.

Good to hear he's able to combine playing for us with his weekly shift in Barry's Fish and Chips, Hexham

Apparently Rhys Bennett is going to be announcing another signing for us on his twitch stream soon. The club's official twitch account joined the stream to tell him to check his texts and he's gone to put a suit on.

Club says it’s a permanent deal till the summer. Piss poor reporting from Rhys Bennett, hope he doesn’t give up the day job!
