Charles Vernam confirmed. Permanent deal, five figure fee, initial 18 month deal. Really happy with that, seems to be exactly what we were missing.

Buzzing with this signing. He really impressed me last season. His willingness to drop to League Two when other clubs higher up the pyramid showed interest, is really pleasing.

When announcing this signing, the club have said it’s the first one of today; so I imagine they’ll be at least another signing incoming.

Is there any point given you can't seem to play any games.
We'd still be in for players if there were positions we needed to strengthen but as things stand there's nowhere we don't have enough players. Just hope nobody leaves.

We do only have two loanees in the squad, so how many can you name in a matchday squad? If there's decent young players whose parent clubs are keen and we don't have to pay much towards their wages then we could fill up our loan quota just because we can and it's best having as much in reserve as possible. Not gonna be making any permanent signings though I don't think.

Newport seem to be helping all their promotion rivals out today!

Abrahams and Willmott aren’t playing much so don’t blame them. Willmott if played wide right can still just about do a job. Abrahams has tailed off and is unlikely to score in open play. Good luck to them both,

Yeah it has been, would have thought at least someone either in this league or the conference would consider Theo on loan. I think in his case he just doesn’t suit our way of playing. Can’t see it doing Leon much good at this point of his career either if he’s not being considered for even the match day squad to stick around either.

Been suggested on Twitter that it’s Will Swan on loan from Forest we are bringing in.
National league doesn’t have a transfer window so loan or even permanent deals can be done after today.

Akins from Burton for us and looks like Brayford aswell. He's been everywhere with Clough and can play across all the defence so gives us abit of cover. Can see O'Keefe and O'Driscall going out along with Maynard.

Front 3 of Bowery, Akins and Charsley I think. Only leaves Reid as proper cover unless there's someone in the youth that he fancies to make the step up if needed.

Yes he’s likely announced soon, but we will definitely want another, and he is still cutting it I think - so is Quinn but we managed to get him aswell.

We have Knowles out on loan to Notts County, and Cook at Bradford, if Maynard goes that leaves us with just Reid and Bowery so definitely need two in.

Surprised you’ve not recalled Knowles, poor lad can’t get a game in the league whatever he does.

He was not getting the game time with one of our strikers being the league leader. He was being used increasingly to close our games, of which he was great. He added something for us, but that something meant only ten to twenty minutes if we were winning. I don’t blame him wanting more starting time and wish him well.

Yes, certainly not an out-and-out goalscorer but a good option to have at this level and offers something different to what we've had so far this season. He was very settled in the area here and had lived in Colchester before in his Ipswich days so I'm sure if we're in a position to offer him something he'd be happy to come back permanently in the summer.

Abrahams seems to have loads of potential but hasn’t really fulfilled it yet....

Hopefully Willmott will do ok for us. Randell Williams is our for another month or so, so he will play as a right winger I expect.

We've signed George Taft on a permanent deal after loaning him in at the start of Jan. He's been excellent so far and formed a great partnership with Manny Onaraise, they haven't conceded yet together. Just got to hope he keeps up the good performances.

Free transfer as well which makes it even better.

Wilmott is a bit of a knob but he’s a good player. We had him come through our youth team and then he broke into the first team at 18 when we had a ton of injuries and he held his spot even after more senior players returned.

I am assuming Lowe brought him to be an occasional target man, to add something we did not have. But for whatever reason it did not really work out.
We heard that he moved his family down as well, so I hope he kept his house in Essex.

Nice bloke, wish him well. Suspect he will get a fraction more space in league 2.

Yems said (on his preview of the Orient game) that there are a couple going out, obviously, today.

A few players we haven't seen for a while so I would presume it's two of them but no hint given at all.

We do have a couple of youngsters who could do with some game time so maybe loaning those out ?????

We've brought Frank Nouble back on loan from Plymouth until the end of the season. Decent move - we've missed his physicality up front to hold the ball up and he'll be a good character to bring back into the dressing room.
He always seems to cause us so many problems. Could've waited until after you played us (whenever that is.).

Christ what ever happened to him, was hugely rated wasn’t he?!

Signed for us in October but now supposedly "injured". Doesn't get on with Bowyer - naturally and looks like he's being offloaded already.

Unfortunately, you can have all the talent in the world but if you don't have the attitude or application to go with it it's pointless.

I wouldn’t be too buzzing yet. He was pretty poor from the moment he signed from derby until he had a good loan spell at Chorley and then a half a dozen game spell when he came back and everything turned to gold then got injured.

If he can be consistent with his form then an excellent player at this level but imo that will be unlikely. There’s a reason burton are letting him go so soon although he seemed to be playing on a regular basis until Jimmy floyd came back.

Hope it works out for him though, seems like a decent lad.

Yeah he seems to be doing okay when given the chance? I know Clough went to watch him in FA Trophy, so obviously got told in advance he was playing.

FGR fans, is there any substance to the rumour that Jamille Matt might be off, possibly to us?

One of the biggest cocks and biggest cheats in football. Spends more time on his arse trying to win free kicks and sulking if he doesn’t.

Thinks he’s better than messy. I would imagine bowyer told him to get up and get on with it one day and he threw his toys out of the pram.

Not one for squad harmony, loves a mirror.

I bloody well hope not. He's our only proper striker, or at least the only one that actually scores goals anyway.

Has recently taken up the option of an extra year on his deal, so would be a surprise if he left. Would give us no time to find a replacement. Where have you heard this?

He’s scored a few goals and generally looks lively, although tbf he’s mostly contributed either in the trophy or as a sub in games that are already won. Most people would like to see him given more of a chance.

I don’t think Ardley trusts his work without the ball, and our main aim for the season seems to be to bore our way back into the league by winning every game 1-0, with the occasional 0-0 thrown in for good measure.

Callum Wright signs on loan from Leicester until the end of the season.

Permanent forward is still a goer apparently.
