We have two senior centre halves in him and Canavan and O’Connor isn’t even the better of the two, I’m not sure he’d get into many L1 starting 11’s never mind the Championship.
All signs continue to point to Adam’s, I very much expect an old Morecambe/Plymouth hybrid come August.

Anyone have Graham Carey’s number?

Still just speculation being thrown around on Exeweb but one of the names recently mentioned has been Kyle Vassell. I’d say he’d be just the sort of player that we need, was impressed with him at Blackpool when he was last in L2.

Craig Clay signs a new 2 year deal with us. Lucky to get 2 years IMO, decent squad player and good lad etc, but he will need some pace and better technical players around him.

He has slowly improved with us since we went up in 2019.

Cheltenham apparently in for Bowman again this summer. Not sure what fee we’d accept, maybe around £50k.

£50k - really?
Do you think that’s too low, or too high?!

I’ve heard we valued him at £100k back in January when Burton and Cheltenham were allegedly interested. He’s only got a year left on his contract and is nearly 30 so I’d say £50k is the most he’s worth.

He’s a good forward though. Works hard and averages about 15 goals a season. Whether he’d score as many in L1 remains to be seen.

Bowman is not worth £50k, let alone £100k.

Seems quite low, tbh.

He’s good for 15 goals per season. I’d say he’s worth nearer £100k - if not, more.

He has his moments for sure but is quite inconsistent. For example, he scored 14 this season but that included two hat tricks so the other 8 goals were spread over the whole season, which makes him look less effective. Plus he’s 30 years old and with only a year left I can’t see too many paying towards £100k but happy to be proven wrong.

Either way I get the feeling someone else will be leading our line next season and fingers crossed Taylor can get someone who can bag 20 plus. Not an easy task, admittedly!

Seems to be plenty of talk that Josh Gordon is a done deal. Stoke on Trent lad and obviously played for DC at Walsall.

Was highly rated and did well up until last year it seems when he had a poorish season so maybe potential if we do sign him with a fresh start.

Think he was injured for a couple of months last season which might account for the drop off to a degree,

played for us in 2 spells - the 1st he was our player (2017-19) and was impressive, the 2nd spell was a short 4 game loan (stopped by covid) at the end of our promotion season.
Decent player with a long throw who can play at centre back or left full back.

If he could play left side of a three that would be very useful. As VF16 says he looked decent against us at Harrogate but with the caveat have been down that road before where we sign a player who impressed against us and turns out not to be so good.

Hopefully if he does sign for us then it goes a bit better than how it ended for the previous Dan Jones (though Loft by all accounts had that coming to him).

yeah he played there for us at times, so he can do left side of a 3 no problem.
Same names at a club can be an omen though - we had 3 Danny Rowe's in about 18 months (yes it included THAT Danny Rowe) and none of them were anything special... although THAT Danny Rowe thought he was

Would not surprise me Clarke liked him he was awful last season but player of the season the year before worth a punt probably.

there's enough about this gordon character to say its worth a go. not many clubs can go out and sign a guaranteed 20 goal striker so we all have to gamble on potential.

we're a bit suspect after askey of the constant signing of former players by a manager but it does make sense as long the proper homework has been done. this guy being local is another positive, we've really benefitted from the local players over the last few years.

He got 12 in the covid curtailed season so was on course for 14/15 which if we can get that out of a striker its better than what we have had.

Assuming DC is going to try and push Dave to improve further this coming season with his tally although I do think Dave is better cutting in from out wide.

He played left back initially for us and was decent (called up to England C) but maybe lacked pace and a killer cross. Next season he was mostly a centre back and that's where he excelled, as he's comfortable on the ball and in the air.
Strangely, one of his best games for us he played as a right midfielder away at Wrexham and scored a belter.

The loan spell though, he'd had six months in Salford's reserves doing now and he seemed well off the pace. Personally, can't see him being quite good enough for League 2.

His long diagonal passes will get annoying, and he likes a long range shot - though I don't remember any of them really coming off...

Danny M Rowe is decent enough, he spent the latter part of the season at Burton and would be a good pick up for a L2 side (or even a lower L1 side).

Yep, thought he was great - was only young when he was with us, but had a lot of talent. Not many teams seem to play with flying wingers that hug the touchline anymore.

Nick Anderton joins Bristol Rovers.

Decent enough player at this level, was with us 18 months, had a good 12 months then a terrible 6 months. Since losing his place to Jack Armer, I was surprised we offered him new terms, but not surprised he’s turned it down.

That was the easiest win we will get in a long time. We didn't even need to play particularly well to win that, just relied on some stinkers from Grimsby players. Premier League Pollock had a horror show against Ryan Loft I can't believe it.

I felt sorry for him having to play alongside Pollock

I'm not rattled I just expected better from Premier League Pollock, I was told he was the best defender in the league

Also Mark Hughes, Sam Finley & Paul Coutts. All 4 signed today. Now for the strikers.

Ah, you lost your best player for pittance.

SOC gets me yet again!!
You probably don't understand as your chairman just wrote off £11M (eleven million) in debt and your club doesn't produce any decent youngsters but we can't afford to turn down money. The add ons will be decent though. Still, the 500k+ we'll be getting when Siriki Dembele leaves Posh will soften that blow. And yep, got you again 100%. You laughed at me when I said he'd go to the Premier League and that's where he's going.
Any good ?

Seem to get a lot of young players but they never really get a chance so not sure it’s the best move for him!

Might change after the impact of Brexit.
He lacks pace and has had a very poor season, due to being partnered with another slow mo in Luke Waterfall, but when he broke through he was absolutely class. He's an absolute mountain for his age, strong as an ox, good positionally, gets his head on everything and can ping a pass.
